Incredible 5h delay, very poor communication, if at all. Plus, they combined two flights into one and left wrong passengers enter the airplane. So some passengers had to leave again and still they had to ask for volunteers to take a later flight from a different airport....

Si je pouvais je mettrais -10, vraiment ne passer pas par cette compagnie, se sont des voleurs, menteurs, incompétents, ne savent pas ce qu'est le professionnalisme...
Me concernant j'avais réservé un vol avec eux en après-midi Kilimandjaro/Zanzibar, assez élevé notamment celui choisit mais les horaires me convenait pour mon arrivée et gestion à Zanzibar. Au final ils ont modifié la veille ou l'avant veille, ne me laissant pas le choix en me mettant sur le vol du soir indiquant qu'ils annulaient le vol que j'avais pris. Ce que je ne savais pas c'est qu'ils font ça quasi tout le temps. Ils font payé quasi le double pour le vol de l'après-midi indiquant avoir beaucoup de choix d'horaires mais au final pour les regrouper sur le vol du soir moins cher pour eux et surtout se faisant de l'argent sur votre dos car ils ne vous remboursent pas la différence. Des gros voleurs. Bien évidemment aux comptoirs sur place soit il n'y a personne apte à vous renseigner comme au Kilimandjaro, soit ils vous mentent comme à Zanzibar indiquant que vous allez être remboursé de la différence. Personnellement j'ai payé plus cher pour rien, ils ne m'ont jamais remboursé malgré les centaines de relances, j'ai eu des frais supplémentaires notamment à Zanzibar car arrivant la nuit j'ai dû payer un taxi et plus cher de surcroît, j'ai dû faire mon check-in dans la nuit... Cela fait plus de 2 ans (je ne peux pas mettre la vraie date dans le choix) et ils n'ont JAMAIS répondu aux centaines de mails envoyés, ni au téléphone quand j'étais sur place et ne m'ont donc jamais rembourser sachant que c'est une pratique très courante chez eux. UNE HONTE, FUYEZ!!!!!
Misplaced Baggage
They misplaced my baggage, while the suitcase got to Nairobi they said to have dispatched it with a rider at 10 o'clock in the morning.Lets just say it is 1953hrs.. 10hrs later with a load of lies that the rider called Lawrence is at Njiru which they have said so since 2..not gotten my suitcase and I need staff in that suitcase for work tomorrow.

Terrible
Terrible. Avoid at all costs. We watched the flight leave our bags in Harare on the runway as we were taking off! They didn’t even inform us that they would just leave our bags at a random airport. And our flight was delayed several times before they lost our bags. If you value your luggage, time, money, and dignity, do NOT travel with Air Tanzania.

This has to be the WORST airline one could ever travel with. Twice they have had my luggage delayed.
The latest is what actually brought me here.
I flew AT from Nairobi on the 21st February 2026 to Cape Town. Did my long layover in Dar and arrived in Cape Town on Sunday 22nd just after 17:00. To my surprise, my two checked in bags had not arrived with me. Mind you, my stop in Dar was about 10 hours. It is almost a week now and no luggage has arrived.
This Airline operates like a local taxi. They don't care about their customers. I gave them the benefit of a doubt because they did the same on my way to Nairobi. How they are allowed o to operate shows a failure in the aviation industry to implement proper handling on customers. One full week. I was forced to purchase clothes since i was arriving after a long stay in Kenya. Basically, all my clothes have been stranded, even on the day of typing this review, 27th February 2026. This airline is a scam. Fly it if you do not have checked luggage, but if you do, be prepared for the worse. I am considering taking legal action against these scams for the emotional roller-coaster that have put me through.
I will never, ever fly them again.

Worst company I have ever dealt with
Worst company I have ever dealt with. You book the flight, and they change it for the other which is like 3hours later and you can do anything about it (and they are saying that it is the minor change). Every time it happens to me, and I travelled with them dozen times. they have like 2 flights in the evening, and you can be sure than the first will be cancel. It is like they wait how many people they booked and if it is not enough, they regroup everybody in the second plane. Never ever again.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget this experience. It was one of the worst airlines I’ve ever flown with. First, the flight was delayed, and when we arrived in Dar, all 12 of our bags were missing. They were also unable to give us our boarding passes, which was very strange. In addition, their customer service was very poor. The staff spoke to us with attitude, especially one lady with dreadlocks who spoke to us very badly, which was extremely unprofessional. I don’t recommend this airline to anyone.

Booked a ticket from Zanzibar to Cape Town for the 14th of December 2025. The flight was for 9:30. They called around past 00:00 to let me know my flight has been cancelled and was rerouted to Johannesburg instead but was gonna start ar DAR. Their flight delayed,Mind you the DAR flight time was 10:45. Got to DAR and I was already being called on last call,enquired about my luggage and they lied and said I will get in Johannesburg. Got to JHB and it wasn’t there. I followed up but it took days,they aren’t reachable anywhere. Eventually only 1 luggage has been returned to me,still waiting on the 2nd one. They don’t respond on their emails,their calls don’t go through. Its a mess…Im utterly disgusted with them.

If I could give zero stars I would. Air Tanzania is a dreadful airline. We went to the airport and were told our flight is now 3 hours later and not when we expected. We had no contact prior to our arrival at the airport advising of this. First we were told the flight was cancelled then we were told that the seats assigned to us were broken! We will be lucky to catch our onward flights to Australia now after this disaster. We attempted to complain at the airport and asked to board an earlier flight to no avail. I will never book this airline ever again and I will warn others coming to Tanzania not to use this airline either. There are many better local airlines here.

If I could review and give it less than one I would.
Flight delayed twice in one day. Then changed to a different airport in Arusha that will take two hours to reach the city.
So a flight that was supposed to leave at 1600hrs was now delayed to 2100hrs and to a different airport which would take 2 hours to drive.
And worst of all their own staff don't know about these changes. And no compensation/refund offered by them.

Ich habe einen Flug von Kilimanjaro nach Entebbe gebucht, der von Air Tansania storniert wurde und warte bis heute auf die Erstattung des Flugpreises. Diverse E-Mails blieben unbeantwortet. Ein völlig inakzeptabeler Umgang mit Kunden! Wenn ich die anderen Reviews lese, scheint das aber gängige Praxis zu sein!
Generally pleasant experience
Our flight had a slight delay which was communicated in a timely manner. The flight itself was great, the staff member responsible for drinks and snacks was very friendly and attentive. Lots of on board communication about departure, arrival, weather at destination etc. my only complaint is that we were boarded during refueling when air con cannot be in use. It was boiling inside the plane but once we prepared to take off the AC kicked in and the rest of the journey was excellent. It’s pretty cool watching the manual take off and landing on bombardier dash 8. Some awesome piloting.

Delayed multiple times. Cancelled. No refund. Many excuses. Stopped answering
PRECISION AIR TANZANIA This is the worst experience I have ever had with a flight company. Instead of leaving at 7pm, the flight got delayed multiple times and then was scheduled for 3am the next day. NO ACCOMODATION OFFERED. We went to the airport and no one could find the flight. Apparently Precision air reschedule dit again to 6:30 am without telling most of the passengers. We all got different information. in the end the flight never showed up and we were told we would get to go on a Kenya Airways flight at 10:10 for free. They "booked us" all in the flight and then Kenya Airways said it was too late and we needed to buy our own tickets if we wanted to board. As Kenya Airways and Precision Airways use the same system, they told us we should make a claim and get a refund after paying nearly one thousand dollars.
Long story short, we have still not been refunded for the original cancelled flight. On top of this, they have not accepted our claim for a refund for the flight we needed to buy with their sister airway and said that they will not refund it at all. We have contacted them multiple times and they are holding on to the money from the original cancelled flight as well. They just keep sending us apology PDFs saying "sorry that we can't help you" it's the craziest thing I have ever experienced. They did not pay accommodation, refreshments, another flight OR EVEN REFUND THE ORIGINAL. This is wild. It has been 3 months already and they have stopped answering emails completely.
Their response in the apology letter said that we should have had an insurance..... below is a verbatim quote for their apology letter:
"It is our utmost regret that we are unable to meet the compensation stated in your email because of the conditions of carriage we have in place and the limited liabilities that airlines have. I am afraid this may be less than what you hoped for. Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. I booked a round trip between Zanzibar and Arusha and the experience was disastrous. On the outbound flight, there was a delay of over 4 hours with no email updates, no corrections on the airport screens, and no Air Tanzania staff at the boarding area to provide any clarification. They even refused to accept the electronic boarding pass issued through online check-in and almost denied me boarding.
On the return flight, I was forced to check in my carry-on bag, which was returned destroyed — handle completely torn off and wheel structure damaged beyond repair.
Air Tanzania refused to take responsibility for both the delay and the damage. Completely unreliable and utterly indifferent to passengers.
