Avoid at all costs. I booked a round trip between Zanzibar and Arusha and the experience was disastrous. On the outbound flight, there was a delay of over 4 hours with no email updates, no corrections on the airport screens, and no Air Tanzania staff at the boarding area to provide any clarification. They even refused to accept the electronic boarding pass issued through online check-in and almost denied me boarding.

On the return flight, I was forced to check in my carry-on bag, which was returned destroyed — handle completely torn off and wheel structure damaged beyond repair.

Air Tanzania refused to take responsibility for both the delay and the damage. Completely unreliable and utterly indifferent to passengers.

Refund never received in 7 months.

I requested a refund for my ticket. Air Tanzania promised to return the money within 30 working days. After 4 months they tried to send it in USD, but my bank could not accept the transfer. I gave them new details, yet they never tried again. For 7 months I only received excuses about “accounting review.” Still no refund. Very disappointing and unprofessional.

I travelled with my husband and 2 children for our dream holiday, we checked in 4 suitcases and none of them arrived at Zanzibar airport.

I was promised the luggage will arrive on Monday (the next day)however I spent all day ringing and all I got told is to call back in 30 minutes. 

This caused a huge inconvenience to my family without any personal belongings and the airline unable to provide accurate information.

I was promised the luggage will arrive on Monday however I spent all day Monday with the help of staff at the hotel. The luggage didn’t arrive until 10pm Monday night despite 2 earlier flights during the day.

This has caused huge inconvenience to me and my family.

I didn’t trust Zanzibar airport lost/found luggage staff to arrange a delivery therefore I had to make my own arrangements immediately and hired a private taxi, travelled to Zanzibar airport early hours Tuesday and collected my luggage myself. The luggage was with me 41 hours later than what it should have been which has caused a huge inconvenience to my family without any personal belongings and the airline unable to provide accurate information.

Our flight was supposed to depart at 13:40. We received information in the morning that we would delay an hour. When we were supposed to depart at 14:40, they announced we would depart an hour later again. When we were at the gate at 15:40 they didn’t write anything on the board, didn’t announce and didn’t inform anyone. When I looked for a representative they told us there would be another hour delay until 16:40.
This is not the first time! They always delay and don’t inform. I do not recommend this company at all. They are unprofessional and these delays are unacceptable.

This company is scammer. They sold the tickets to a non- flight!! We bought tickets from Darüsselam to Arusha and 5 days later, Arusha to Darüsselam. But both of them there was no flight!!! They send us to Klimanjaro; after waiting 7 hours in AirPort. Then send us to Arusha by bus; extra 2 hours !! 5 days later ; same things happened!!! With bus they brought us to Klimanjaro, and after waiting 6 hours we were on the plane. NO COMPENSATION, NO APOLiGIE!!!

They called 1 day earlier and said flight will be 1 hour earlier than scheduled. The flight ended up hours late from the original schedule. No recpect for peoples time.

Flug im Vorfeld um 2 Stunden nach hinten verschoben und nun am Flughafen Arusha wieder um 2,5 Stunden verspätet.Abflugzeit mit 1400 festgelegt anstatt 1040.Mittlerweile 1500.Keine Infos hier am Flughafen.Alle anderen Airlines fliegen pünktlich im 30min Takt.Danke Air TZ einen Tag auf Sanzibar bereits verloren

I was scared to fly with AirTanzania after I read the negative reviews online. I guess we are compelled to write a review only when the experience is bad? That's why I am sharing my experience. Everything went smooth in my case. No delays, the journey was perfect and the staff welcoming.

Booked a flight with them, which they then canceled and booked us onto a flight arriving into a different airport. I have called 8 times and sent multiple emails, I’ve been told I am entitled to a refund but nobody seems willing to process it and I’ve never had a reply to any of the emails I’ve sent

WORST EXPERIENCE

Booked Cargo through a freight forwarder to Comoros. They took cargo to Tanzania and abandoned it there, no transfer to Comoros. 10 days later no Explanation , nothing done yet,
They dont pick calls and are rude to customers.
I wonder how they have survived so long with such poor services.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR BUY FLIGHTS FROM THEM. My sister bought flight tickets in June 2024 from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar for our family. We flew with Air Tanzania in July 2024. This April (nearly a year later), an unauthorised payment came out of her bank account. After countless emails, there has been no further action or response. Still £500 down, we are all disgusted by the company’s actions and the way that they treat their customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

3 MONTHS THAT THEY HAVE TO REFUND MY TICKET AND STILL NOTHING! THEY DO IT WITH EVERYBODY , IT IS HORRIBLE , THEY STEAL MONEY FROM CUSTOMERS

After sent lots email to receive back my refund from September 2024,they never answer me back, they took my money from the bank whitout sent me a confirmation booking

This company is a scam , Run for your life if you don’t want to be scammed, they collected money from me to change a ticket date and till now they didn’t change the ticket and never refund me ,a very bad experience and inconvenience they caused me ,

Be careful guys ,don’t come close to this company they’re evil .

We bought tickets for a flight from Kilimandjaro to Zanzibar that was supposed to get us to Zanzibar at 9h20 pm.

24 hours before our flight, they modify the hour 9h20pm to 00h30 am the next day... We finally arrived at 1h30 am, one hour late and more than 4 hours late compares to the original ticket.

I would definitely NOT recommend this Airlines company

Avoid flying Air Tanzania at all costs! The most unprofessional, inefficient, unhelpful airline! I flew with a friend to India 2 weeks ago on Air Tanzania. They lost our luggage and it took them 5 days to locate it. We still had to drive to the airport to collect the luggage as it was not delivered to us. I was dealing with a man by the name of Hiklas who told me after after 5 days that he thinks they located the luggage and that it would take a few days to reach us if they were going to deliver otherwise we need to collect from the airport. I explained the urgency and his response was, "well you have waited 5 days for your luggage you can wait a few more days". They were unhelpful, unfriendly and rude during this entire process. We needed to arrange to fetch our own luggage from the airport which cost more time and money. We arrived back in South Africa yesterday and Air Tanzania lost our luggage again. They still have not located it and cannot give any indication as to where it is or when it will arrive.
In addition, when I insisted that we receive compensation I was told we need to prove what we spent due to the loss but I explained that we purchased most of what we needed at Indian markets so we don't have all the proof and we were told that we would have a problem with compensation. This service is unacceptable and I will post on every single social media platform about our awful experience so that people can avoid using this airline at all costs.

Great experience with Tanzania customer services. I would like to thank Shiny in Dubai side and Ishmael South Africa (Johannesburg) side for their help.They are both good listeners and solved my queries in an ammicable way. After a long frustration about check in for my nephews they did come to my rescue.They are both very professional and helpful. For their professionalism definitely will use Tanzania Airlines again.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Air Tanzania, particularly regarding their customer service and refund process.

I have been trying to resolve an issue related to a duplicate charge for a flight booking (May 31, 2024, from Arusha to Zanzibar) for several months. Despite reaching out multiple times, I have received no response from the airline, and my refund of €274.99 has yet to be processed.

The lack of communication and follow-through is unacceptable for a company that operates in the travel industry, where reliability and trust are essential. As a customer, I should not have to chase after basic resolutions like refunds for charges that should not have occurred in the first place.

I sincerely hope Air Tanzania takes steps to improve its customer service and refund processes, as my experience has been far below acceptable standards. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this airline to others.

Scam or joke, you chose!?

First the price showed as 203 USD per person, then after choosing it was bumped up to 233 USD, then just before checking out it was further bumped up to 259 USD per person.

And no, the price increase was not because the cheap seats were taken by somebody else while I was checking out or anything like that. Because while staying at the checkout page showing 259 USD per person, I went back again in a new tab to check the original price of 203 USD and the first bump to 233 USD. And the scam was perpetrated in the exact same manner the second time.

Cheap filthy tactic to lure people in and rip them off. Why can't Air Tanzania just be honest with their pricing, instead of using these disgusting low-life practices.

Furthermore, the exact same ticket could be booked at 3rd party sites like Kiwi, Kayak, SkyScanner, etc, for about 225 USD per person without any increases during their checkout processes.

It's year 2024, and Air Tanzania is still treating their customers as if we are all stupid idiots. This unfortunately speaks volumes of them as a company and their management.
