I had my flight booked for 12:45, with good connections with my previous flight. I was visiting friends at Mwanza for just 2 days, but the flight was "rescheduled" to 7:40 pm. So suddenly my whole planned day was gone. At the airport, I asked if there was a comfortabele lounge to wait for over 10 hours, but they could not provide. So I needed to book a nearby hotel and got back in time around 6pm. They did save my luggage in the meanwhile, which was nice.
Online the flight was scheduled ON TIME when I left the hotel. But when I arrived, the plane was again delayed with another 3 hours. They offered no service to spend 10 hours extra on the airport; not even a drink. I had read the airport has 3 lounges, but they said I could not use them. So my 2-days trip to Mwanza now becomes 1 day at best. Such a waste of time and money. I have written an ask for compensation. Hopefully they will respond positive to that.

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Air Tanzania. My flight was originally scheduled for 20:20, but I received an email notifying me that it was delayed to 20:50. Shortly after, I received a second email pushing the departure time to 01:20 the next day. I ended up waiting at the airport for over 7 hours with absolutely no hotel room or proper accommodations provided.

The airline staff were extremely rude, showing no empathy or concern for the passengers who were stuck waiting. We were placed in a lounge with very limited seating, forcing many passengers to stand for hours.

Overall, the lack of communication, poor customer service, and complete disregard for passenger comfort made this an awful experience. I would strongly recommend avoiding Air Tanzania.

Die schlechteste Fluglinie!! Worst airline ever, try to avoid if you want to have nice holidays!!! Our flight was cancelled and we are waiting since 11 hours at the Kilimandscharo Airport in Tansania to board our flight to Sansibar. Totally incompetente airline!!!!! The service is inacceptable!

A complete train wreck of an airline. Very unprofessional, they know how to take your money quickly enough but can't return an email or a phone call. Plane had to be changed out so it was late. Check in staff were rude and it looked like the manager or supervisor arrived late. Plane was an old Dash 8 prop which is okay for a one hour flight from JR0 to ZNZ. The landing was more than a little on the hard side judging from the passengers reaction. If it's your absolute last option I would use them again but do everything in your power to avoid if you can.

Haaa...I was very disappointed when I came back from Dubai on the 31st of August 2024. The airport staff in Dubai was the worst. We waited for close to an hour just to get attended to. The queues were not well managed and a group of people kept skipping the line with trolleys full of boxes and noone was there to help coordinate or control the queues. The lack of order was really annoying to say the least. The person who checked us in seemed not to know what exactly she was doing and her supervisor was just hovering around her doing absolutely nothing to expedite the check in process. We had a connecting flight from Dar es Salaam to Harare and the attendant in Dubai failed to give us our connecting boarding passes. More still,our luggage was bundled up under one person,something that caused further delays in Dar es Salaam. I would however like to commend the staff member who assisted us in Dar es Salaam,Joseph Muwowo as he rectified the mistake done and was really quite patient and friendly. The service on the plane was good. The attendants from Dar es Salaam to Harare were especially friendly and helpful and that at least made the experience better.

Our experience was the complete opposite to many of those previously recorded on Trust Pilot. On 14 August 2024 we flew Zanzibar-Dar es Salaam, then Dar es Salaam-Lusaka the same day.
The first flight (on a smallish Bombardier commuter plane) actually took off slightly ahead of schedule because all passengers were on board. The second, on a brand new 737 Max, was on schedule. Our hold baggage appeared safe and sound on the carousels at Dar and Lusaka.
Both check in staff and cabin crew were courteous and efficient.
Air Tanzania appears to have benefitted from considerable investment recently with a number of new aircraft. While time will tell, it may be that some of the older adverse reviews on this site do not reflect the current performance of the airline. We would certainly be less hesitant about flying Air Tanzania in future.

I used Air Tanzania company 3 times during my trips in Tanzania, 2 times is happened that they cancelled me a flight and moved it at another time.
The last time it's happened today 14/08/2024. They moved my flight from Dodoma to Zanzibar from 18:20 pm to 7:30 am, adding a wait of 6 hours in Dar Es Salaam airport.
The result was that I lost the whole day and I had to cancel my meeting planned in Dodoma.
It is the government company, so it may happen that they change flights to give priority to the travel of members of the government.
Better to fly with another tanzanian air company, like Precision Air, that in my experience never changed my flights.

Passenger name TAPIWA KANENGONI. I booked a flight from Zimbabwe to Dubai with Tanzanian Airways for my brother as a tourist, at the Dar Salaam airport the lady charged $100 us dollars telling him that the dates are not matching with the visa, really the visa is for 2 months but the return ticket was for 32 days, does this really matter. On top of that one bag is missing.. until now no one is taking accountability despite all the follow up we are doing. I'm really asking for the baggage/refund. The flight was for 03/05/2023 arriving in Dubai the following day,

Wir haben einen Flug mit dieser Gesellschaft von Sansibar nach Arusha (ARK) um 14:30 gebucht. Nun.. 2 Tage vor der Abreise wurde eine Flugplanänderung bekannt gegeben. Andere Zeiten (Ablug um 20:25) und anderer Ankunfsflughafen (JRO). Wir haben mehrfach versucht über den mitgelieferten Link oder per Mail die Fluggesellschaft zu erreichen. Absolut keine Chance auf eine Antwort. Der Link funktionert nicht und per Mail bekommt man nur eine automatische Antwort, welche nie weiter bearbeitet wird. Also .... Finger weg von dieser Fluggesellschaft.

Honestly if there was an option of giving zero (0) stars I would give that rather than wasting the 1 that I gave. Air Tanzania doesn’t deserve that 1 star also.

I’ve flown with Air Tanzania more than twice and I’ve never seen any worst customer service and hospitality than that of Air Tanzania flight.

Their seats are uncomfortable, their reclining doesn’t work, the space per seat is not enough for a normal human to sit properly let alone a heavy weight person.

Let me not get started on the baggage issues that Air Tanzania has started lately. The bags don’t come with us on the flight apparently there is not enough space.

One would think that if the plane has the capicity of holding over 100+ passengers that they would make sure to have enough space on the luggage compartment but no. Air Tanzania is making me laugh now😂

Despite claiming that the bags would arrive the next day it doesn’t and calls aren’t picked and replies aren’t given.

Hoping someone would read the reviews and it would save them the money that they’re about to spend on this flight.

Communication not possible, no one cares or is interested. Not on time, no information. Try to avoid Air Tanzania

I checked my bag in with this airline and this tore up my suitcase. Once I received my suitcase from baggage claim I instantly go to their office to file a claim nobody was there. The door was closed and locked with a paper on the door with a contact number and email. I send a email and text message via WhatsApp. I never hear anything back so I followed up some days later. They finally texted me back and ask me did I file a report with lost and found the day arrival. How would somebody know their protocol to file a claim with lost and found the day of. And they tell me yea we know you don’t know our protocol but we can’t do anything if you didn’t file a report with lost and found the day of. Like what kind of mess is that on top of you all not even texting the same day back which if you all responded the day of I could have done that while I was still there during my lay over. They fact that you all never responded till I texted them again saying how unprofessional they were for never writing me back. I would never suggest this unprofessional flight company. They tear your stuff and take no accountability! Would not recommend!

The most beautiful airline with great hospitality and great team . I can say they are better than Qatar airways ! We live in Tanzania yes but we are better in airline hospitality than Qatar.

Realy bad airline. We had a delay of 6 hours without any explanation. I missed my appointment because of them.

Our flight was rescheduled from Arusha airport to Kilimanjaro airport and postponed by 6h just 6h before the flight due to "technical" reasons! At the airport itself the new flight was also delayed by 1h. No compensation provided. Terrible communication, not recommended

Das ist die schlechteste Airline, mit der ich je geflogen bin. Und ich war in 50 verschiedenen Ländern. So etwas von unterirdischem Service habe ich noch nie erlebt. Stunden Verspätung und keine einzige Information dazu. Zu keiner Zeit gab es irgendeine Erklärung oder Information, ob es eine Verspätung gibt, wie es weitergeht oder wann. Ganz im Gegenteil. Bei Nachfragen wurde man noch ignoriert! Ein absolut unentschuldbarer Umgang mit zahlenden Kunden. Eine dreiste Unverschämtheit!

We had two regional flights with air tanzania from Kilimanjaro to Dar es Salaam and back. This was in April 2023. Two days before departure they inform us that we are on a later flight. We call and ask why. They say issues with the plane. So we wonder how they would know one day before.

For our return we are informed 3 hours before the flight that we are again on a later flight. These are all late night flights when we plan to fly in the afternoon.

We ask, the reason. They say operational issues. If we don't ask we are not told any information, no excuses, no apologies. On both flights, they provide you with no information at all.

What we noticed is that, if they cannot fill the earlier flight, they just decide to put everyone on the later flight without explanation.

Instead of a 1hr30min flight it took us over 5 hrs to get home late at night, we eventually arrive at 1 am.

If you can DO NOT FLY with Air tanzania. You will ruin your trip !
