Unbelievably bad claims process. Never again. No extended warranty is worth having to get pre-authorized when the vehicle is at the repair facility and then being on hold and dropped 3x.

Car Tow Request A+++

My call to Carshield was answered by a very polite & cheerful customer service rep. He asked for details and quickly got to work finding a tow truck. I did decide to have him call back instead of stay on hold. He called me back soon after and had a tow scheduled for my car, which actually showed up 2 hours faster! FYI ~ This was a non emergency. This gentleman did his job efficiently and with a smile .. I could hear it!

Very satisfied

Driver called when he was on the way. He told me he would have been here earlier; but he got a police dispatch call. He was quick and efficient, and placed car safely in the lot next to it's destination. I highly recommend the driver and Bypass Auto body.

HE WENT WAY BEYOND TO HELP ME!

HE WENT WAY BEYOND THE NORMAL SERVICE IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET MY ENGINE'S HOOD OPEN, BUT IT WAS SIMPLY FROZEN CLOSED, SO HE ENDED UP HAVING TO TOW IT TO MY CAR REPAAIR SHOP FOR ME. HE WAS VERY KIND AND THOUGHTFUL! I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH KIND THINGS AOUT HIM!!

Refusal of Coverage for "Negligence" Without Proving Negligence

I have had my CarShield contract for about a year, making my monthly payments. My car's check engine light came on but it was still running fine, so I waited until Christmas Break - I'm a teacher - so that I could manage without my car. The car is operating normally, so I drove it to the repair shop to ask them to take a look. They determine it's an issue with the timing chain and it turns out there is metal debris in the engine - I'm going to need to replace the whole engine. It takes two full weeks to get any kind of answer from CarShield about whether or not they will cover anything. Today I first receive a text message that my claim has been approved. Then, an email saying that I was negligent for driving the car while there was an issue with the timing chain, so they'll only cover its replacement. That will leave me on the hook for $5700 dollars to replace the engine. I speak to four different people at CarShield & American Auto before someone tells me the process to dispute a claim is done online. I hear back less than an hour after submitting my dispute and I'm told they're still refusing coverage for anything other than the timing chain. When I ask for an explanation, they repeat the exact same thing the initial email said with no actual response to my dispute. When I asked to be escalated to a supervisor I was informed that my only recourse, per my contract, is to sue them. They are of the opinion that I was negligent for not knowing there was something seriously wrong with my car for the 16,525 miles between when the timing chain slipped and I had the car serviced. In fact, the car was operating normally and it had been serviced more than once in that time with no red flags or concerns from the professionals who examined it at those times. They repeatedly told me the 'frame data report' indicated that it became a problem 16,000+ miles ago and that even though I couldn't tell, it was still my fault and I was still negligent. While I do intend, if I can find the money to do it, to sue them for coverage, I'm out either a lot of money or an operational vehicle, which I need to be able to continue to work my job. They will do absolutely everything they can to avoid paying and will treat you like an idiot while they do it.

Don't stop with one check them all & ask question

I am pissed I DO NOT RECOMMEND CAR SHIELD AMERICAN AUTO SHIELD They have a grace period before they fix your car but towing starts immediately. So if your car breakdown & needs fix they will ONLY tow it & not get it fixed, if it's within your grace period I was 4 days shy in my 26 days grace period on December 12th they towed my on January 8th they denied my claim for inflammation they had in the beginning so they procrastinate only to deny it because of the 4 day difference they had to find a reason not to fix it they had the shop do a lot of stuff for no reason whose to say when your car gon breakdown so if it breakdown within that grace period it will not get fixed No one is taking CAR SHIELD because they don't want to pay & make the shop work harder for nothing SO DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY IF U ARE HAVING PROBLEMS I have cancel my policy because if I'm paying you my money to fix my car I shouldn't have to wait on a grace period yawl didn't wait on a grace period to take my money they don't give refunds if it's not within your 1st thirty days the representative tried to talk me into staying with them with a cheaper rate quote I do not recommend them at all they ask you a lot of paperwork on it to see if you been taking care of it Ms. Fox & Ice T shouldn't promote CAR SHIELD as a good company check around read reviews but I recommend the old fashion way save your money for that rainy day because depending on someone else to fix will cost you more in the end

Great Company Good Customer Service

My experience with this company was great. My customer service representative was very friendly and helpful in working with me to get my vehicle towed to the dealership that I requested. The transaction went smoothly just like clock work.
