Predatory and frustrating experience. Canceling requires mailing a physical letter—no online or phone option—which feels intentionally designed to trap customers into automatic renewals. Their contracts are especially concerning when dealing with senior citizens. Equipment is unreliable, and customer service and technical support are extremely difficult to reach or get help from. My alarm service was down for 6 to 7 weeks. I contacted AMP Smart, they told me I'd have to wait until January 6. I contacted them several times to say that this was unacceptable; at least three times talked to various customer service people.
Come on my frustration, I sent the CEO, (Allen Bolen)of the company a letter and I felt like I was bounced around. Told my case had been closed, due to the fact that they claimed they had tried to contact me even though I have a message service and because I didn't contact them again mo messages were left. They refused to compensate me for the loss alarm time. However had no problem charging me for their service.
On January 13th, I was contacted by Ashley Stevens, who apologized for the delay in servicing my alarm.
By the time I was contacted my son who has IT skiills work had figured out what was wrong with the alarm. Some system at AMP had thrown off my alarm.
I I know this sounds like a huge novel, but over all not happy with AMP Smart's response or their customer service. Unfortunately, I am going to be stuck with them for a while.
This company is horrible
This company is horrible. continuously raising prices, poor customer service etc. They double charged my bank account and took 3 months to refund my money. Don't sign a contract with them Beware!!!
Unfair cancellation policy
If you try to cancel your service they make you a pay lump sum that equals the total amount of your remaining service contract.

I would give a NEGATIVE rating if its possible. Absolutely, deceptive and unethical business practice. Threats that no one can do anything to them. Without informing they auto renew for multiple years. Without getting any consent from customers they sell your information and they move the business to a different name called Safe Home Security. Being a security company, they are more dishonest, fraud and unworthy. Attorney General is not taking action against Amp Smart or Safe Home Security because these guys provide wrong email addresses and contact information making it difficult for anyone to reach them.

Disagreement with extensions
We started this service in 2017 when someone at the door misrepresented themselves and I thought our service was doing an upgrade. In 2020 someone came out to replace a faulty doorbell. When I called to close my account in 2022 I was told that since I signed a document for the replacement our service was for a new 5 years to 2025. I called when the extension was up and found out they automatically renewed the service until April of 2026. I did not care for the customer service or the faulty equipment and have purchased my own cameras and monitoring through my phone. Thanks but No Thanks.
Poor service
The equipment is sub-standard compared to other companies. I burned something in the kitchen more than once and the alarm system would never go off. My fire alarm did go off one time and the company never call me. My door was left open by accident and I never once received a call from the company to see if anything was wrong. The sensors on the doors kept falling off and I had to pay a technician to come and put them back even do they did a bad job installing them to begin with. By far this is the worse company I ever did business with. They to cancel my account I have to send a cancellation via certified mail. Overall terrible experience from one to 5 stars I give then a negative 5.
AMP- avoid like covid
Ah, you guys don’t even know! I called a year and a half ago to see how much longer was on my contract because I don’t like AMP. I’ve had multiple fire alarms go off during my contract. Received one phone call one time. So following some advice that the neighborhood posted on the next-door app, I emailed them stating that I did not want my contract renewed. I was giving them my written notice. I received an email response stating that they were accepting my notice and that my contract would not be renewed. Fast forward to this summer when my contract was up. I wasn’t sure whether it was June or July. I contacted them to find out. Customer service told me that they had renewed my contract. I told her “the hell you are.” I read her the email and email confirmation and she said I had given “too much notice.” I asked to speak to someone and cancellation and was told that they did not have a phone bank. Went to the bank stopped payment for June and July and future payments. That got their attention. Now they’re sending me an NSF charges. I finally called on a weekend and unloaded all of this on Andy who I thought was an employe, but ended up just being someone from a call center who actually was the most helpful person that I’ve spoken with. Because of him I actually got a return call on the Tuesday after Labor Day From a person named Jaden. I went through everything with Jayden and she agreed that my contract should have been canceled after July payment. I also had a discussion with her at that time because I was getting billed from their same address under a different company name. She was to look into things and follow up with me on September 9 and did not. I have called her three times and left messages and have not heard anything. I continue to get billed. I believe I will be reporting them to my states Attorneys General office tomorrow. I’m not gonna take a hit to my credit because they’re fraudulent behavior.
Never go with Amp!
I follow their instructions of when to cancel. I want the letter in within the time frame. Even sent it with a sign on delivery to make sure they got it. Called to make sure they got it and they said it was posted in there system that services would be stopped by 9/30. I called on 9/29 to ask what they wanted us to do with the equipment. They said to keep it, that it was our, due to sanitization issues. I asked to make sure that I wouldn't be charged since this was the last month. She said no charges would happen. I'm looking right now at a pending charge from amp for $72.74 right now on 10/4. I'm pissed 😡. When we first started it was a great company but then I found out that they automatically renew if you don't send in a letter enough days in advance which we didn't know. Then they can go up during various times during the year. I was even more pissed. Then they changed their billing department location and I get a letter saying I'm not paying. It's automatic withdrawal, How Am I Not Paying!?!? Then found out the idiots didn't put a zero in the front like it told them to twice. It took 3 phone calls!!!
I wish I could put zero stars but there's no option. I hate this company. Never, never go with them!!!
Very shady company
Very shady company. The monitoring service is great. No ability to contact anyone besides the Alarm.com team that knows what they are talking about. The fact that you will be lied to about what you need to do to cancel service even after your contract end date. Beware. I now know why the BBB rating is in the toilet. A call months ago, I was advised to send email request not to extend contract 30 days before end of contract date. I sent and followed up with a call to confirm receipt, I was then told 60 days to end contract, or it will automatically extend. Never use this company. If you are in a contract, good luck ending.

Stay the hell away from this company!!!!!! The equipment partially works. It takes weeks of not months to get a tech out here to fix issues. I changed alarm companies in May 2025. I called AMP to inform them that I switched and that the company I know use is willing to buy me out of my contract. Was told by the manager Lynn I wasn't under contract and all I had to do was write a letter to corporate wanting to cancel my contract. This was the 1st week of June. I called Lynn again two weeks later and she assured me everything was fine and I wouldn't be billed or nothing. Still never confirmation of my contract being discontinued. So I call Lynn again (August) and she then proceeds to tell me well you may be in contract still. Well by now I've out of the window of the other company paying off my contract.Lynn tells me that they automatically renewed my contract without my permission. No email, no phone call, no nothing. So now I'm showing behind on my payments due to the ignorance of this company and the forever lies Lynn told me.

Ever since the staff got hired, it is bad. The Amp Smart staff is very unprofessional and RUDE. I been always customer for 7+ years and just waiting for my contract to end. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. There is no option for "No Stars"
Horrible company
Horrible company. Called several times, no one answered. I stopped the automatic payments and then I finally heard from someone. A technician came to my home to fix the problems I was experiencing, said that they would come back and never returned.
Lack of Customer Support
Lack of Customer Support: they asked my disabled husband to climb on a ladder after a shoulder replacement 🙄 we cant even get a real person here. Hes a 100 percent disabled veteran (Army).
Non-functional Cameras: From the very beginning, the cameras installed as part of my system have never worked correctly. I have tried multiple times, but they consistently fail to function. A security system with non-working cameras is useless.When the salesperson pitched the system, they did not adequately explain the long-term contract or the potential for these hidden fees. I feel that the sales process was designed to mislead me into a contract for a product that doesn't even work as promised.
I would strongly advise anyone considering AMP Smart to be extremely cautious. Review every detail of the contract, ask specific questions about all potential fees, and consider the numerous reports of faulty equipment and poor customer service. My experience has been a costly and frustrating ordeal. My husband was home alone when they came here. He felt pressured into this contract after the man stayed in our home for nearly 8 hours. I do not think this was fair. 😐 He is not qualified by law to make decisions on his own like this. I have paperwork to prove these facts. I just started going through our contract and things aren't right. I expect a full refund for everything. THIS IS ILLEGAL. I will post this everywhere for everyone

This is a scam. Do not sign a contract with them. They make it nearly impossible to cancel and then it auto renews.
AMP customer for 6+ years
AMP customer for 6+ years. My monthly service has nearly doubled in the that time. Tried to cancel but I had 3 months left on the contract. To cancel the auto-renewal, I was instructed to reply to an email that they never sent. Now my contract has automatically renewed and they are not honoring my previous request even though it was documented in their system.
Reading other reviews, this does not seem uncommon. Coincidentally, they are not part of the BBB.
I suspect this is common enough to warrant a class action lawsuit.

I would give them a zero if possible. My alarm went off on 8/3/2025. Thank goodness it wasn’t an intruder because Amp Smart never called to check. It was a sensor. I changed the battery and that didn’t work. I called tech support and they just wanted to send a tech out for 99. I asked to speak to a supervisor but they will have a supervisor call me. As soon as I can get out of my contract, I am gone. This is not the first issue that I have had with this company and I am sure it is not the last.
