I’m finally free of this horrible company!

Based on my experience, I would urge anyone considering using them to not to do so!

I found the entire experience exhausting, frustrating and unnecessarily stressful. I was fully lied to about the nature of the contract, and when I tried to leave, every step became a battle. Instead of making the process straightforward, they did everything possible to force me to stay with them, including sending a man to my premises even when I told them repeatedly I didn’t want anybody to come. they insisted on coming anyway so they could do the hard sell, which I found intimidating and completely unacceptable.
It took just under two years to get away from them.
Good riddance to bad rubbish… and yes, the pun is absolutely intended. I certainly won’t be making the mistake of dealing with them again.
And I urge anybody considering please don’t! Use literally anybody else!

they auto renew your one year contract for another two years and then charge you an exit fee.. this is very dodgy policy then they would sanction you with an exit fee.

watch out for their contract smallprint. after the first 12 months your contract turns into a rolling 3 years with NO GET OUT clause.
during this time they have increased our waste collection from £4000 a year to nearly £10000
they are not interested, just smug in the fact that it was missed when we first set up. if this company could be given ZERO stars i would

I am writing this review to share my experience as a customer of Ash Waste Services. This review relates to Embromatic Print Ltd (Account 51852).

In June 2024, an Ash Waste Services Area Manager, who identified himself to me as "Kulvinder", visited my business after first contacting me by telephone. He told me the agreement was for a 12-month contract, which matched the wording "Initial Contract 12 Months" prominently displayed on the front page of the agreement. He also told me that the plastic bins were inexpensive to replace, so there was no need to worry about equipment insurance.

At no stage was I told that, unless written notice was served within a limited time window, the agreement would automatically renew for a further 36 months. Had this been clearly explained to me, I would never have signed the agreement.

I was later informed that my contract had automatically renewed. In written correspondence from Liam Witts, a Customer Accounts Advisor, the company appears confused about their own dates, as the stated contract expiration date has kept changing from 2 July 2028 in one email to 28 June 2028 in the next. However, despite being unable to provide consistent contract dates, the office did not hesitate to quote a verbal upfront termination fee of approximately £1,000 as a result of this automatic 36-month rollover.

During the agreement, my collection charges also increased. Although Ash Waste Services states these increases are permitted under the contract, I do not believe it is reasonable to be tied into a long automatic renewal while the collection charges continue to increase.

I have formally disputed the automatic renewal in writing because I believe such an important contractual term should have been clearly highlighted and properly explained before I signed. I have also submitted a formal complaint, together with a copy of my contract, to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) so they are aware of my experience. Until this contract dispute is resolved, I intend to continue pursuing the matter through the appropriate regulatory and legal channels available to me.

If any other small business owners believe they have had a similar experience regarding the way their contract was presented or renewed, I would encourage them to report their own experience to the CMA. The more businesses that report their experiences, the better placed the regulator is to assess whether there are wider concerns.

This review reflects my own personal experience. I encourage every business owner to carefully read all renewal, cancellation and price variation terms before signing any commercial waste agreement.

A follow up to my last review of Ash Waste so another week my waste bin not emptied, no call no text no email the service is diabolical

Terrible company. Will go out of there way to not collect. Charge for cross contamanation yet load bins on same wagon. 3 price increases in a year even if you are under contract. Zero customer service and be warned its a rolling contract if you miss the 3 month deadline they sign you again you cannot get out of it. In order to get out a written letter is the only way yet they will sign you by email. Outdated disgraceful company

Their customer service is awful! i called to dispute the fact that they have tripled their prices and i was spoken to so rudely and the operator shouted at me. I have since called to cancel my service with them and have had no answer. their communication is awful and i would not recommend this company to anyone. i am switching my services ASAP after 3 years of being with this compnay. customer loyalty is not rewarded.

The driver who attends along Hall lane Lathom today 23 /6 26 is an idiot who needs to learn to wait for the traffic to clear before pulling out in front of me. I am on a 40 mph road and had to brake down to 10mph . Camera footage gone to the police

Terrible service. Has not collected my sharps waste in over 3+ months despite 4 emails sent to them requesting a collection.

Do not use, dreadful service, very quick to sign you up to an auto renew contract, I’ve been waiting weeks for bin removals after paying a huge amount to cease my contract. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with in my 20 years of trading

Don't come when they are supposed to, charge for cross contamination but then put the different bins in the same lorry.
Will do their best not to collect, my staff member came out to get the bin, they saw him but still drove off looking at him. Not very professional at all. They also email to say bins aren't put but we have clear evidence that they were. Not a happy customer

Ash will use any excuse to not perform their services. They'll not turn up on designated days, and email saying the bins weren't left out to collect! The bins were left out to collect, and they're now full and overflowing.

Avoid this company, poor service. Only collect the bins once a month even though our contract is collection weekly. I would like to exit and they are saying that the contract is 3 years but cannot show me the contract.

We have a new business on Bridge Street Chester and i want to compliment the guys that collect our waste ..... very helpful and friendly

Been a customer for years the last couple of years the service is very poor. No show no practicality every week got to keep chasing them for a collection promise one day and don’t turn up again!! When they do turn up leave the bin in the middle of the car park so no cars can come or go. And they tie you to a contract that’s almost impossible to get out of. AVOID

Allows them to put you on a rolling contract. And you can only cancel it within a time frame that suits them.
My contract finishes on the 15 June 2026
I’ve asked to cancel and it’s still May
But I’ve missed their window. And they have put me on a new contract, that I most certainly did not ask for.
They miss collections constantly, then don’t turn up for weeks. Then charge you for being over weight.
After two years of having a skip, they turned up when we was not there and replaced our skip with a smaller broken skip( the lid is broken and full of water I’m guessing so they can charge you for being over weight) this was not agreed.
They firstly denied the skip had been changed. Then told me I had requested an urgent collection. I DIDN'T
And they had no available bin wagons to collect and only a skip lorry. ( they make lies up constantly)
I spoke to a man ( who cried that I named him in the first review. So I had to take its name out) who says he was the legal department
He does not come across as a practically nice person, very arrogant
Just keeps referring to the t & c

Just do yourselves a favour and avoid

Ellie on the Live Chat was awesome! Fast to respond and very helpful. My issue was sorted within minutes! Love it when these live chats work well and I don't have to call and end up on hold for hours.
