I would like to extend my appreciation to Stephanie, Store Manager at Bath Depot Windsor branch. We had a defect on a smart toilet we purchased and Stephanie did not hesitate to correct the situation immediately. Her appreciation for making things right for us as a customer is what makes a difference. We have made a multitude of purchases from BATH DEPOT Windsor over the last two years and we would not hesitate to go back due to our personal experience with Stephanie. I rarely leave negative reviews, but after everything my family went through with our Bath Depot purchase, I feel other customers should know what to expect if something goes wrong.

We purchased approximately $3, 000 worth of bathroom products from the Richmond Hill location, including a Lewis alcove bathtub, two toilets, plumbing fixtures, and accessories for our home renovation.

Unfortunately, our experience was one problem after another.

The two toilets were delivered by Bath Depot’s third-party delivery company. One of the boxes arrived visibly crushed, torn open, and with broken Styrofoam inside. I expressed my concerns to the delivery driver immediately but was told everything was “fine” and to contact the store if there were any issues after opening the boxes.

When our plumber opened the boxes on installation day, BOTH toilets were cracked and unusable. Our renovation immediately came to a halt, and we had to schedule another plumbing visit at additional expense.

Our options were to wait another 10–14 business days for another third-party delivery or exchange the toilets ourselves. To avoid delaying our renovation even further, my husband had to take time off work to help transport two heavy porcelain toilets because we had been told the Vaughan store would not assist customers with lifting heavy merchandise.

Ironically, while we were at the Vaughan location, we watched staff help another customer load heavy items into his vehicle while refusing to provide us with any assistance. We were handed a box cutter and told to open the replacement boxes ourselves, then had to ask for packing tape and reseal the boxes ourselves as well. Staff would not help move the heavy toilets or even the dollies they were sitting on. That level of customer service was extremely disappointing.

As frustrating as the toilet situation was, it wasn’t the end of it.

While reviewing our invoice because of the toilet issues, I noticed that we had purchased a matte black bathtub overflow and drain kit. When our bathtub had been installed, the plumber had to use his own chrome overflow and drain because Bath Depot had never supplied the kit that we had purchased.

When I contacted the Richmond Hill store, I was shocked to learn that Bath Depot’s own system still showed the item as pending. No one told us it had not been provided when we picked up the bathtub, it wasn’t included with the toilet delivery, and no one ever contacted us afterwards to advise that part of our paid order was still sitting pending.

By the time this was discovered, our bathtub had already been permanently installed and tiled.

Initially, I was told I was outside the refund period and was eventually offered only a $20 refund for an item we paid in full, despite the fact that Bath Depot had never supplied the item in the first place. The chrome overflow installed in our bathtub wasn’t even Bath Depot’s—it belonged to our plumber and was used only because Bath Depot failed to provide the product we had paid for.

To Bath Depot’s credit, after I escalated the matter to Corporate Customer Service, Allison listened to my concerns, spoke with the store, and arranged for the missing matte black kit to be couriered to my home while also authorizing a full refund for the purchase price of that item. I appreciate that she handled that issue but still offered the bare minimum. She basically sent us an item we paid for and was owed to us. In my opinion, no effort was made to rectify the situation they created or show us they cared about our business.

However, the problems with the damaged toilets, the delays to our renovation, the additional plumbing costs, the lost time from work, and the customer service we received at both the Richmond Hill and Vaughan locations were never addressed.

What disappointed me most throughout this experience was the complete lack of accountability at the store level. Every issue somehow became our responsibility, despite the fact that the problems originated with Bath Depot’s damaged merchandise, incomplete order fulfilment, and inconsistent customer service.

Mistakes happen in every business. What defines a company is how those mistakes are handled. While Corporate Customer Service did resolve one aspect of our complaint, it took considerable effort on our part to get there, and much of the inconvenience, expense, and frustration we experienced was never acknowledged.

If you’re shopping at Bath Depot, my advice is simple: Don’t. Had I not reviewed my invoice months later, I would never have discovered that part of my order had never been supplied.

I sincerely hope Bath Depot improves its quality control, order fulfilment, and customer service so that other customers don’t have to experience what we did.
