DATA BREACH- they don’t care
Lost all of my medical data, we get 2 years of Identity protection, with codes that don’t work and force you to do a 20 minute call to get an account. Baptist Health was already ehh but with this I wouldn’t ever step foot here again
Baptist has been absolutely the worst…
Baptist has been absolutely the worst healthcare experience I have ever experienced. I have encountered rude doctors that do not care about my condition or past medical history. They are more interested in how quickly they can check the boxes on their forms rather than what symptoms I am experiencing and treatment. I moved from another state and I am utterly shocked by the poor quality of medical staff. The support staff is no better. They are rude, unhelpful, can never answer questions. Phones are unanswered, emails are unanswered. I get no help. It is so stressful to even go to Baptist. The Billing department is horrendous. They bounced me around for over an hour with a lot of hold time in between each representative because there is no coordination, or communication to the large number of billing entities that Baptist has. The times I have got to speak with someone the information was wrong! They do not know what they are doing and you cannot trust anything they tell you. They are rude and do not want to help the patient who is unwell. It has been emotionally exhausting and has not helped my medical condition with the added stress of dealing with them. Patient experience is a joke. You will find no help there. One thing for sure is they are always on top of asking for payment even before the insurance has processed the claim. If you over pay you will never get your money back. I do not recommend.

I want to express my gratitude to the team at Baptist Hospital in Kendall, especially Dr. Americo, Dr. Consuelo, and Dr. Ferrer, as well as all the hospital staff who took care of us. At first, my impression wasn’t the best due to a lack of coordination regarding the doctors’ orders, but everything turned around for the better. This afternoon, my mom had an endoscopy that took less than 25 minutes, and she came out calm, relaxed, and full of hope. Seeing her like that was a huge relief for us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your professionalism, kindness, and human care.
Doctors negligence that took my mother‘s life
My mother was taken by the paramedics to Bethesda Hospital, West for head Trauma from a fall in early December . She had scans done of her head and Dr. Karen Rodriguez said everything was fine. That she had arthritis in her neck. I asked if she was not going to be admitted for observation due to her balance and falling Dr. Rodríguez said no and she was Discharged.
When I took my mother to her primary for a follow up, the primary had the hospital reports from the scan and brought two my attention that my mother had a benign brain tumor. I was taking by surprise and started crying , Dr. Rodriguez failed to mention that my mother had a benign brain tumor to my daughter and myself when in the ER.
My mother continued to have frequent falls and towards the end of December she fell into b her back . I took her to Bethesda East hoping to see a different doctor only to find Dr. Karen Rodriguez in the ER. I told her how she failed to tell us my mother had a benign brain tumor her response was what do you want me to do!!! After hours of being in the ER waiting, she was admitted for observation. She was then discharged and sent to a rehab for physical therapy. Once again failing and neglectfully not having a neurosurgeon evaluate her to get proper treatment. Sending her to a rehab with a benign brain tumor for Physical therapy was a set up for failure. My mother once again fell, hitting her head and passed away a few weeks later. I have tried reaching out to Baptist health. I’ve called the hospital East and West leaving messages for the case manager and the director and never received a return phone call. Being that my mother was a widow and does not have children under the age of 21 there is Nothing I can do but to make the public aware of the negligence that took my mother‘s life.
Worst healthcare experience
Patient Experience Review
I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the treatment I received at Baptist Health Hospital's Emergency Department located at 8900 N Kendall Dr, Miami, FL 33176 (Building 3).
Excessive Wait Times and Inadequate Care
Upon arrival at approximately 5:40 PM with an urgent condition requiring drainage of an abscess, I was subjected to an unacceptable and potentially dangerous delay in care. Despite being in considerable pain and discomfort, I was merely administered antibiotics and left to wait overnight without proper medical intervention.
The simple procedure needed—a minor incision to drain the abscess—was unnecessarily delayed for over 18 hours.
Staff Responsiveness and Communication Issues
Each time I inquired about expediting my case, staff members responded dismissively, stating that their standard response time was 24 hours—a timeframe entirely inappropriate for an emergency department.
The lack of urgency displayed by the staff was alarming, particularly given the straightforward nature of the required procedure.
Questionable Medical Decisions and Billing Practices
Instead of providing the timely intervention needed, I was subjected to what appeared to be unnecessary diagnostic procedures, including a CT scan. This seemed more oriented toward inflating my medical bill than addressing my immediate medical needs. Throughout the night, I received only antibiotics while waiting for a surgeon who never materialized.
Unprofessional Conduct
After enduring this treatment until the following day, I reached my breaking point. I clearly and audibly announced to the entire nursing staff at their station that I was giving them precisely 30 minutes to resolve my case and locate the "so-needed" surgeon. I explicitly stated that I would go to my car to smoke a cigarette and would return expecting a solution.
When I returned to my room, I repeated my ultimatum directly to the nurse who had consistently refused to remove my IV line, emphatically declaring: "ALL OF YOU HAVE 30 MINUTES TO FIND THE DOCTOR... 30 MINUTES." Rather than addressing my legitimate medical concerns, the nurse appeared to search for hidden meanings in my statement, repeatedly questioning with a suspicious tone, "ALL OF US? ALL OF US? Hmm!"
Adding insult to injury, on top of my considerable physical distress, I was subjected to a humiliating and intimidating situation upon my return to the hospital. I was confronted by two security officers in a public area. The first approached from a distance with his hand positioned on his weapon belt in what appeared to be a threatening posture. Both officers immediately questioned me: "Are you Diana Palacios?"
The second officer, who identified himself as Rick and who became more reasonable after hearing my explanation, clarified that they had been informed by staff on the third floor that I had "THREATENED" personnel.
I explained that the nurse had clearly mischaracterized my statements with malicious intent. I had simply gone to my car to calm myself after experiencing such prolonged incompetence and negligence from the entire floor staff responsible for my care.
This unnecessarily escalated confrontation in a public setting, while I was already suffering from a serious medical condition requiring treatment, represents yet another example of the hospital's profound disregard for patient dignity and welfare.
Broader Systemic Issues
The emergency department appeared severely mismanaged, with numerous staff members visibly idle while patients waited hours for basic care. As someone with diabetes, the urgent nature of my condition warranted immediate attention, yet the hospital's bureaucratic procedures took precedence over patient welfare.
Conclusion
This experience demonstrates a concerning pattern of neglect, inefficiency, and disregard for patient dignity at Baptist Health Hospital. The treatment I received falls far below acceptable standards of medical care and basic customer service. No patient, particularly one in an emergency situation, should be subjected to such prolonged waiting periods, dismissive staff attitudes, and apparent prioritization of billing over treatment.
I expect a thorough investigation into these issues and appropriate measures to address these serious deficiencies in patient care.
Baptist Health South Florida: Healthcare That Doesn't Give a Damn
Baptist Health South Florida is the worst managed and most bureaucratic healthcare system I have ever interfaced with and I am a clinician with 30-years of healthcare experience. Their tag line should change from "Healthcare that cares" to "Healthcare if your insurance pays us what we deserve". I was referred to Dr. Van der ven (who I never was able to see and is not well served by the system he works for) by a colleague for a knee replacement consultation. I have been fully assessed by a surgeon who did my other knee in another state and was ready to go with chart in hand. Baptist, however, doesn't listen to their patients, but rather is governed by rigid, non-responsive bureaucrats who follow check lists, and non-patient-centric policies and procedures, where staff do not communicate well internally and contradict each other making it a horrible system to navigate, and simply do not care about the suffering of the patient trying to seek care which was my experience. I have tried for 2-months to see Dr. Van der ven at the recommendation of a fellow clinician. After being refused access to him by his "team" and referred to a sports medicine doctor in their system to "assess alternative treatment options" which have already been tried (my knee is bone to bone, I am in constant pain, cannot walk up a flight of stairs without excruciating pain and have a full chart documenting my orthopedic plight) the "team" insisted I be seen by a non-surgeon to see if physical therapy and Advil might work first! After waiting 2-months to see one of their sports medicine doctors, on the day of my appointment, I received a call from their office cancelling my appointment. After multiple calls to their office (2 hours to be exact) and speaking to several people all of whom could not answer my questions, I finally located someone who said they would look into it for me. After waiting another several days after my cancelled appointment they told me they "take my insurance but some doctor groups won't take it due to price coding variations" and I should seek help elsewhere. It is now going on 3-months where I have sought help from Baptist Health South Florida and I remain in excruciating pain, am confused about why very good insurance will not be worked with and I am furious that they have wasted my time resulting in further damage to an already damaged limb because I could not find anyone competent enough within their management structure to answer a simple insurance question I should have been apprised about 3-months ago. I could not be more disappointed with a healthcare system who clearly doesn't "care" at all for the patient experience, but rather only cares about the nature of the insurance they can get reimbursement for. Their loss: At this point I am going to find the best surgeon I can in Miami and write a check for the surgery because I can. Consumer BEWARE and take your healthcare dollars to a system that actually gives a damn because Baptist Health South Florida most certainly does not give a damn.
Slowest and most inefficient…
Slowest and most inefficient organization known to man. 10 “workers” with no patients. It took 45 mins to enter their prison. What a waste of healthcare insurance costs. Employees just sitting on their arse
The worst for the out patient diagnosis…
The worst for the out patient diagnosis center at Baptist Kendall, 2nd floor ( Stephanie ) the worst in customer service and lack of respect.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience applying for jobs at this hospital. After applying for over 10 positions—jobs I am more than qualified for—I was automatically denied every single time within an unreasonably short timeframe. The consistent pattern makes it clear that discrimination and racism are at play, likely due to my last name or other biases. There is no other explanation for being rejected so quickly for roles I exceed the qualifications for.
This is unacceptable, and no one should have to go through such an unfair and disheartening experience. I never expected a hospital of this size and reputation to engage in such blatant racism. I strongly advise others not to waste their time applying here, as this organization clearly does not uphold fair hiring practices.
Gastro. Dr Gupta
The nurses were professional and compassionate. As for the Gastro who was supposed to be my reason for being hospitalized she had much to be desired. She discharged me without being stable and didn't speak with me. Dr Gupta left orders eventhough my stool samples were not ready to be read. She also placed me on augmenting which always gives me diarrhea. She added more diarrhea to my bacterial colitis. I explained it to the nurse but was told the discharged papers were already done and I was out of there within half an hour. This is not an acceptable way to treat a very sick person. I will be having a long discussion with Dr barruw about this n will find out what agency I can contact to make a formal complaint. If you wish to write a letter of apology it's the least that should be done. My colitis is worse not better n everyone that came to see me left with an upper respiratory infection. This is wrong in so many levels

Been in a room for 3 hours waiting to see a doctor which I feel is an unexceptable wait times especially when someone comes in with cheif complaints that shouldn't take no 3 hours to see a doctor
I had two horrible experiences with…
I had two horrible experiences with them including a stay at their hospital in Boca Raton. My now former primary Doctor is actually an employee of theirs. You would never know it because now they have their own private offices. Guess how many expensive tests she ordered and hounded me for to be completed at Baptist while totaling ignoring that I didn’t go to Quest for blood tests. That’s why she’s my former doctor. Baptist hospitals and medical care are just profit driven are inferior and they have bought up most hospitals in the area!
Worst Urgent Care in Miami
Worst Urgent Care in Miami! After 5 months, they sent me a bill for over $700. They charged for "services" such as reading an X-ray, which the doctor said was inconclusive or poorly taken, interpreting a blood test that showed nothing, and reviewing COVID and H1N1 testsboth of which were NEGATIVE. This was the explanation I received from the hospital staff. To summarize, the doctor diagnosed me with bronchitis🤔, even though I’ve never had a respiratory illness before. The next day, I went to another emergency room and found out I had H1N1😯. As for the bill: the hospital told me that if I didn’t pay, it would go straight to collections, but if I did pay, I could settle it for $75 per month. 🤑🤑🤑
I have just had an appointment with dr…
I have just had an appointment with dr schwartzing at orthopedic department in broward county in Davie Florid. It was my second time seeing him for a painful knee. I’ve worked for a dr. 35 years so I can professionally say it was a GREAT experience from start to finish both times. Check in was fast and easy, the employees are great and make you feel like you’re their primary concern and the doctor gave me a cortisone injection in my knee and I felt nothing. I have recommended him to everyone as at my age (82) everyone I know has some pain in their joints. Keep up the good work- your employees are exemplary and the doctor is amazing. Thank you Baptist health!
BILLING SCAM
I had the same billing issues with some of the reviews. DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC UNLESS you want some billing headaches. They got all our insurance information and we even had a virtual meeting with their billing department after seeing their urgent care physician. After getting back to California we received 2 billing statement: one from the physician and another from the South Miami Hospital. Both did not have our insurance information and they want us to do a 3-way call with our insurance (I have a PPO and they are listed as a provider). I do not have time to deal with them as I worked full time and if I am home they are already closed (I lived in California and their billing department is in Florida). Baptist Health South Florida is soooo INEFFICIENT and they do “fraudulent” billing claiming they have “insurance payment/adjustment” when they never billed my insurance. DO NOT FALL INTO THIS BILLING SCAM. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE !
Do notttttt use this hospital if you are in need of urgent relief or care. They do not care.
I am writing this letter with immense frustration and disappointment regarding the recent events surrounding my scheduled spinal surgery. Originally scheduled for February 5th, it was rescheduled to February 8th, only to face further delays due to the actions of a doctor who was meant to clear me for the procedure.
I cannot express the emotional and physical toll this has taken on me. Having invested significant resources to come to Miami for this surgery, and being in constant pain 24/7 for months, the rescheduling has been nothing short of devastating. I trusted the medical professionals at Baptist Health Hospital to prioritize my well-being, yet I find myself caught in a situation where a doctor's actions are hindering my path to recovery.
What adds to my dismay is the lack of transparency and honesty exhibited by the doctor in question. It is disheartening to feel misled and not receive the straightforward communication that I deserve as a patient. I have spent thousands of dollars, and the mental anguish coupled with the prolonged physical suffering is unacceptable.
Massive overcharge
Care is fine but billing has gone insane. They used to charge $150-$170 to see your child. Surprise and without notice now charge as an "outpatient hospital" and bills are $1,050-$1,200 to see your kid for an ear infection. Urgent care is for speed and cost efficiency. They aren't either one anymore.
Saw a Nuero
Saw a Nuero, had a BRAIN MRI and a lab draw request.
NO RESPONSE from the MA or the Neurologist as to my results. SInce I have a patient portal I knew when the result came in but I couldn't read it. Called the patient advocate line to report. The result is just ot make things going forward. ABSOLUTELY UNACEPTABLE. This is not a routine exame and I was told office does not call if there is nothing wrong. This is not an annual routine exam where the rules are posted that they will not call if no changes. STAY AWAY!
Baptist made an error on the transfer…
Baptist made an error on the transfer referral that is costing the life of a patient. We wanted a 2nd opinion and instead sending the transfer file to Jackson Memorial Hospital they sent it over to Christine Lynn which rejected the patient since they do not accept individuals on ventilators or trach. Instead of owning up to their mistake they asked us to get an attorney. They only care about money and NOT quality healthcare. They misled the proxy & the patient is now suffering at a sub-par acute care facility due to Baptist's referral mistake.
