This is a review of my recent…
This is a review of my recent experience with Bradleys estate agents in Crediton.
I was purchasing a property through this agent who on initial contact came across well. The property was advertised as being freehold with land and a stable. The manager of Bradleys showed us around the property on a second viewing and explained we could do what we wanted with the land.
We made it clear that we wanted to run a holiday let from the property from the start.
It wasn't until we received the contract a number of weeks later to sign that we found out the land had a restrictive covenant which only allowed it to be used for agricultural purposes. The manager was aware of this but didn't inform us. When I called to pull out, the agent's acted like they didn't know and they would call back. The manager called back and started the call by lying, making out he had no idea of what I wanted to talk about, and continued to act unaware.
It is dishonest behaviour like this which has given estate agents a bad name. This manager clearly has no morality and didn't care about his client or us, he just wanted a sale at any cost. His client has lost a buyer and we have lost hundreds of pounds on searches and solicitor fee's, and now have to move into rented accommodation or lose our buyer.
Do not use this agent at any cost!

NEVER again.
We had an awful experience with Bradley’s St Ives branch right from the viewings (were the staff and manager turned up 20/30 mins late several times) to the no response to queries and misinformation (fixtures & fittings/paperwork/movable completion date). On one occasion we were spoken to disgustingly by the negotiator (N) on site about the impending exchange date (during lockdown) in front of the site manager, our extended family and our child who had come to see our new home for the first time - we were left aghast at her rudeness. If we couldn’t exchange then the house would be put back on the market at a higher price! All this topped with constantly being hounded for an 8 week exchange (we signed for a 12 week) - and then unbelievably THEY delayed the survey by 10 days by not meeting the surveyor as arranged, ringing us up on “moving in day” (nope not us), the list goes on and they are still ringing us now about selling our old home (which is long gone)! Poor communication, lack of updating their systems, a lack of basic manners and the manager seemingly never knowing what day/time it is made for a very unpleasant house move experience. In the end we avoided all contact with the branch. Totally unprofessional in our eyes and we are stunned by the many 5 star ‘great reviews’ on their own website......? We’ve since spoken to several other movers who have also had the same shoddy experience as us.

Never Use Newton Abbot Branch
Me and my partner had a viewing booked to view one of your rented properties yesterday (Thursday 27th August at 17:30). I arrived at the property early and waited until 6pm and no one turned up and neither myself or my partner had a phone call from yourselves. We also tried calling multiple times (both Newton Abbot – where we had booked it – and Torquay branch) but never got an answer even though it was before the 6pm advertised closing time.
I had to take time off work and pay to get there, meaning I have financially lost out and haven’t managed to do what I had set out to do (which was to view the property).
My partner got a phone call from the area manager on the night of the booking (about 7pm) confirming that the appointment was on the system and it was defiantly for Thursday 27th August at 17:30. When my partner spoke to the Newton Abbot branch today, 2 people both accused her of being a liar and said that the appointment was at an earlier time and that they were there.
To sat I am very annoyed with you is an understatement.
Newton Abbot branch
I rang up the Newton Abbot branch to arrange a viewing on a rented property, my boyfriend then had to leave work early, get the train over there, so losing money at work and on the train fares, he gets there well in time to find out that no one was there. I called the Newton Abbot branch about 10 times before their closing time at 6pm, no answer and then they kept putting the phone down on me, same with the Torquay branch. My boyfriend waited there at the property well over half an hour so missing another train and having to wait in the cold and terrential rain and still no one turned up. Also, by wasting his time trying to view this one he couldn't attend another viewing at another property, where they could actually turn up. Very unprofessional and ignorant and will never use this estate agent again, stay away!

Bradleys, Saltash Branch
Just like to thank Bradleys in Saltash for their excellent service. Have bought, rented and sold through the Saltash branch over the last 4 years and can honestly say I have had a faultless service.
Originally purchased a house through this estate agents, renovated the property then rented it through Bradleys. In the 3 years it was rented to tenants it has remained as perfect as it was when renovations were first completed, the rental service is of a very high standard.
Most recently I have sold the property, again through Bradleys, and was so impressed by their dedication and determination to achieve a satisfactory sale that I brought them a thank you card and a box of biscuits.
I would 100% recommend the Saltash branch and it's staff to anyone looking to buy, sell or rent within the area and should the need arise would not hesitate to use them again in the future.
Obviously don’t sell many properties
I asked to view a property that was being advertised for sale by Bradley estate agents in Hayle the women I spoke to asked very rudely that I provide evidence of my funds all I want to do was view the property at this stage and has not made an any offer on it. As this money was inherited it meant I would need to provide this women who I don’t know and have never met with my bank statement which I was not prepared to do. I felt that I was being called a liar and I take offence to this. As a qualified careers adviser I would say this women was in the wrong job or could definitely benefit from better customer service training. After reading some of the other reviews I would not use this estate agents at any cost.

Please, please avoid at all costs, no property is worth your sanity
Please, Do Not rent from this Agent!
We moved into our rented property at the beginning of August, on viewing the property twice, we gave the viewing agent a list of things we wanted put right, prior to us signing the contract, these things being, mould on the Bathroom and Bedroom ceiling, Nicotine Stains throughout (supposedly a non smoking property), skirting boards replaced (where they had been snapped off of the wall, and the carpets and house cleaned, and fumigated (due to a dog at a no pet property), and wallpaper stuck back up, where it was starting to peel from the wall! So nothimg out of the ordinary!
We were assured that Bradleys would ensure these things were put right! So weeks go by, we heard nothing, I called, and had an aggressive lady tell me that it was our fault it was taking too long, as they hadn't heard back from our Guarantor, I asked why they hadn't informed me of this, and was told it was my responsibility to chase, not theirs! So I got the Guarantor sorted within the hour! On calling back, I asked if the issues we had raised had been sorted, and was assured "if you've raised them, of course they are being sorted" we were then asked if we would be moving in the next week, I explained that we hadn't given our notice on the property we were in, as wasn't going to risk being homeless with 3 children! We were then told that the Landlord wasn't happy that we would be another month, and that if we didn't move in sooner, we would lose our holding deposit, and it would be let to someone else, so not knowing the law, nor wanting to be in hot water, we borrowed money, to move in sooner, as had to pay the rent on our then home!
On going to give in the contract, and collect our keys, the Manager refused to give my husband the Inventry, until he'd signed the Contract, as is "company policy" apparently! So, on receiving the inventry, my husband saw that not one of the jobs had been put right, and on top of that, the property was listed as dirty in every room, and that curtains and blinds were mouldy! On questioning this, the managers response was "well, I can't comment, as haven't seen the property, and the landlord is 78, so pretty past it, but look at it this way, at least you won't have to clean when you move out, and if it's not up to standards, then just decorate" ! We had a removal company booked for that day, and cancelling would have lost us money, we couldn't afford to lose, so I had to take my family to a filthy home, to clean what I could, before the removal guys arrived! On enterring the property, the smell of damp dog hit immediately, the place was disgusting, there was more mould than before, the garden covered in weeds, and no electricity, and debt on the meters, we would of had to top over £50, before we had any power, £50 that we didn't have, so we had to call out an engineer from the energy company to manually put money on and clear the debt, he couldn't come until midnight! so I couldn't even hoover!
Anyway, 2 days later, water started pouring down our kitchen wall, turned out that tiles were falling off the wall in the shower, causing the water! The toilet also was tempremental, only flushing around one time in 5 flushes We were told someone would be out to fix it 2 days later, and not to use it in the mean time, no problem, it's only a couple of days hey! So 2 men came out, and said it would need to be retiled, and someone else would be in touch! Long story short, the toilet packed up flushing altogether, and we ended up having to wait over 3.5 weeks for it to be fixed! When the plumber eventually came to fix it, he told me that he'd been called into the property a few months prior, but had been told no to sorting the problem, so Bradleys were well aware if the issues, before letting to us!
I'd had enough by now, so emailed their head office with all of the issues, I stated that renting to us with visible mould was illegal, and that we would be happy to put all the issues right, treat the mould, repaint nicotine ceilings, and redecorate where wallpaper was literally peeling from walls, if the landlord financed it ,I waited, and waited, for a lady to email back, and say that I had stated I was happy to wait for the bathroom to be sorted (I was, as called on a Sunday, and told noone was about til the mon, so I was happy, to wait a couple of days, not almost a month), the next thing she said was, that yes, they were aware of the issues, and had raised them to the landlord, who hadn't responded (yet they could contact him in regards to our moving in date) and that as I couldn't prove that we had been told the issues raised would be put right, or that the manager said what we claimed, they had to treat it as if we weren't assured they'd be put right, and that the manager hadn't said what he did! As for the smell of dog, they argued that there had been no dog at the property! They then went on to say that by asking for the landlord to pay to put things right, that we were wanting financial gain, and that was an issue we would have to put to the Landlord, not them! So I responded, asking why they saw fit to rent a property, when they knew it had so many problems, instead of refusing to let it, until it was bought up to standard,I said that our intention was not to gain anything financially, but to have a home that reflected the £700 we pay to live here, and that there certainly was a dog, as we had viewed twice, and a dog was under the stairs in a crate both times! They declimed to respond! So now 2 months later, we are paying a lot of money to live in a mouldy, smelly hovel! We've had to pay to have the property fumigated, and have the carpets cleaned, more and more paper is peeling from the walls, and the stink of Dog, despite cleaning, and having carpets done, is still prominent! We are Gutted, and will never, ever rent from Bradleys again!
I will say however, the Maintenance team are fantastic, understanding and as helpful as they can be, with Bradleys tying their hands! And the Workmen that came out were efficient and friendly!
AVOID
As with other reviewers here, my experience of this estate agent was left wanting.
The manager of Penzance branch, a Mr. Mick Nutter, is the type of estate agent that gives them such a bad name....
Unscrupulous, deceiptfull, and lacking in any moral code whatsoever.
Avoid at cost.
If you are thinking of using this agent, think again.
If you are looking to purchase a house through this agent, do not take anything on trust.
Make sure you get every stage of the agreement in writing, do not believe assurances or pleasantries.
They will be trying every trick in the book to get more money, and telling themselves it's all acceptable behaviour to maximise profit.
Cannot go into minuses
Cannot go into minuses, rude unhelpful staff, constantly harras, are happy to preach rules but break all of there's all the time. Avoid like the plague.
Terrible agent
Bradley’s are hands down THE WORST estate agent I have ever had to deal with as a tenant. I would never use them ever again after my experience. I would actually give them 0 stars if I could!
Alarm bells were ringing the moment we did the inventory check and they had ‘light bulbs not working’ on the inventory rather than actually replacing them for when we moved in.
They hardly ever came to check the property, maybe once a year, which I’m sure isn’t what they agree with landlords. The property was riddled with damp and mould which took them 3 years to do anything about.
If you have a pet do not use them as they charge you £170 for ‘fumigation’ when you out. When I questioned what this was before signing the contract they told me it meant spraying the carpets with an over the counter flea spray. WRONG!!!!!!! Disgusted they tell you lies to sign a contract knowing full well you will get charged.
Terrible agent, avoid at all costs.
Their website offers a "free"…
Their website offers a "free" valuation, but when they rang me, the charge was £50.00???
Edit 15/10/2018 in response to their response:
I have had 2 estate agents round who have supplied a valuation for free for exactly the same reason given to Bradleys.

Worse nightmare of every tenant
I and my friend have had the worse experience with Bradley’s Estate Agents Plymouth. We rented a property of theirs which we met in a bad condition ( looked like someone was living there the week we moved in without cleaning) took about 2-3 days to clean both rooms, kitchen and especially the fridge and oven before use; all from out own expense because they kept making excuses.) It was explained to us by one of their agents who showed us the place that we couldn’t rent for 12 months as the place was initially for selling but because no one was buying it had been put up for renting so we could rent for 6 months which was gonna end on December 30th then start a new contract after that.) Before December or middle of December we were told we couldn’t start Of a new tenancy because they want to put it to the place up for selling and also because we had been behind a few rents ( which we paid or and also fair reason) we accepted these reasons and decided to look for place. Bear in mind this was just before Christmas. We were then sent a notice that we could stay till the 19th January but no information was given to us about rent or fees or being charged a daily rate. This letter was sent before the tenancy ended. Then after the 30th December (date for tenancy ending) we were in London for Christmas holidays, came back to see a letter stating a rent for £419 for to stay till the 19th without any sort of explanation how this had been worked out. We phoned them up for an explanation and none of their staff seemed to have an idea about why we were being charged. Told us they were gonna get back to us but never did. The place I was suppose to rent phoned them up and they told them I was owing rent and basically I lost that property and I’m no having to sleep in a friends cold lounge. After God knows how many calls been made no one could explain to us why but they insist on charging us. Someone who use to work for them told me most of the time these fees ( they call rent) goes straight to the senior managers pocket hence why the person stopped working for them. I spoke to one of their team members today and he was so disrespectful and rude that I just can’t believe it’s the same company I rented from. Aside all this the amount of fees we had to pay before everything was processed prior to moving in was the most ridiculous thing ever. PLEASE I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO MY WORSE ENEMY BETTER STILL A FRIEND. They are the worse letting agency ever.
