Visited the new West Bridgford branch with my daughter and mother. First impressions were great. The interior was modern, clean and stylish with spaced out seating areas. The array of cakes and food much the traditional same (except no Viennese tarts which they REALLY should bring back) . HOWEVER, we ordered 3 hot drinks and 2 cheese scones we the plan to sit in the cafe to eat them. First of all, no plates, they will only give you a bag and then no butter for the scones and no cutlery. I can see that Birds are trying to take the same serving style as Gregs, but Birds is not Gregs and customers will want to sit in the cafes and will have higher expectations. Introduce, plates, cutlery and butter (it’s really not a lot to ask) and I’d give 5 stars.

This company has gone down over the years used to be a great company sadly no more. The staff are rude because most of them are unhappy they get told if they don’t like things they know where the door is and are treated just like a number so yes no excuses for rudeness but if they were treated with respect by their employees in the first place they may be happier.

The poor staff,having to make excuses for the bosses who make these impractical decisions!

I have been a customer for 40 years and I am very disappointed with the latest changes. I find it disappointing to have my coffee in a paper takeaway cup when the world is realising that reusable cups are the way forward. My scone was served in a paper bag with no butter available and cakes also in paper bag. What happened to reusable cups and plates? Is it going to continue as a takeaway? Went into Duffield, the usual one we use and spend a small fortune in. Heather behind the counter was very rude to me for no reason, basically telling me to shut up. I will not be using Birds again. The other ladies looked embarrassed by her behaviour. Training in customer service or the sack needed.

Usually shop at Duffield Birds..today went to Allestree Birds. Not a patch on Duffield wasted £10 bacon/sausage bap, egg custard not cooked, anaemic, soggy no taste. Think things have changed bacon hard no taste sausage skin over cooked raw in middle not going again til its back to normal.

I’m a regular at the burton store the staff couldn’t be more helpful if they tried! Super friendly and quick service, never had any issues with the quality of the food everything always has been delicious even built up first name basis with the staff. I look forward to my weekly visit to the burton store sometimes twice weekly, could not fault their service or products store is always clean and tidy.

Went into Birds in Southwell this morning. Asked for one product, handed over my cash & was told quite rudely they don't accept Scottish notes. They are legal tender in England & whilst shops can choose if they accept or not there is definitely a better & more polite way to tell a customer. Unfortunately it is same lady who has served me on several occasions (usually pay with card) & she is rude, abrupt, impolite & doesn't even crack a smile.
I am disgusted at her treatment of a customer or maybe she thought I was just a visitor & she prefers locals (which we are having moved to the village).

***Update - I emailed birds bakery direct about this issue & 2 weeks have now passed without a reply. Obviously don't care about their customers at all***

Sadly have to live above one of these shops, the staff are very rude and loud in the mornings.

Terrible pork pies! I have always bought them from Birds Burton on Trent and I will never buy them again they used to be the best but these tasted standard!Has the recipe changed?? Disappointed

Supported there shop all year then when I needed for Xmas supplies left wanting at there clifton store at 9.15 travelled to west brigford store arriving at 9.30 to find the same at least 6 staff stood around doing nothing no stock what a joke so much for customer care and support would not shop there again asboslute joke on the managments ordering capabilities did they not no it's Xmas lots of people look forward to there products no stock after 9.15 and 9.30 another store hang your heads in shame after disappointing so many

Just been to Birds at 8:30am to get my cobs for Christmas and they have ran out already. Other customers was voicing their disdain at the poor girl behind the counter. It appears the bakery has reduced the delivery of cobs to all shops today of all days. They must be happy to lose money and consequently customers .shocking!!!

My husband & l always go to birds in Victoria centre and have a hot pork cob but when my husband ordered 2 the they said that they only had 1 cob with Turkey only 1 but I think it was pork it was very dry I think this isn’t very good has it was early dinner 12 .20 pm they said wouldn’t be any joint until 1pm no trays now paper cups which is sad and I think it was sud standard service very disappointing I think we will not be coming back all so I went to the toilet and wasn’t very clean sink was very dirty I don’t think is good in a birds bakery and cafe .

What has happened to Birds, used to be a great shop, however not any longer, also their customer service at Derby HQ is appalling, had to make a complaint, staff ignored my emails prompting me to telephone them, went through the many problems I experienced and all they did was send me a loyalty card containing three stamps, how pathetic, no voucher, just a half complete loyalty card, demonstrating to me they have no business acumen whatsoever. Will never be visiting a Birds ever again, once great company are in ruins and it will not be long before they go bankrupt and the sooner the better.

Derby Birds Bakery do not enter unless you want your day ruined buy very rude staff who walk past you while waiting to be served for 10 minutes,then just approach you with eyes down and the words (YES). My reply was are you talking to me ? Even though I was the only one waiting. Order given tea, coffee and two sausages and bacon cobs please. £14 card or cash was staff response no please, no thank you. My friend was sat at the table number 5 and she said it's dirty but there all the same. Young girl who took my order delivered to the table. No spoons no knives. Up I got to sort but it took looking at 7 knives, to discover a clean one they were disgusting. My friend ask if the table could be cleaned please . On her return two others asked for there's to be done .

On Thursday 14th November 2024, my family of 5 - 2 x adults, 1 x 11 year old, 1 x 8 year old and 1 x 3 year old - purchased lamb and mint pasties and sausage rolls. Four of them ended up vomiting and having diarrhea for 3 days. The only one that didn't get it was the 3 year old as she only nibbled on the pastry. The other 4 ate the meat! None of them had had anything else to eat that day so it sure was from Birds Bakery, Mackworth's food!

Always bought birds pork pies because they are a bit spiced. Very disappointed with the pie I bought today. No spice. Not worth the money. Will not be buying another

I walked into Birds bakery in Ashby de la Zouch, to treat myself to a nice cake, I will not be calling at this branch again, being told off at 63 years old along with another older lady was the limit, what a rude assistant. I walked in with the scenario of no member of staff serving at the counter and NO queue. I followed the sign 'queue this way' and stood at the counter ready to be served, the counter assistant it became evident was talking to a customer in the eating area. When she came over eventually (by now there were 4 further people in the queue) she said - who am I serving you're supposed to wait and queue otherwise I don't know who is first to be served - I told her when I came into the shop there was no queue so I took up my position accordingly - everyone including myself and the lady next to me were totally dumbfounded at such a loud and rude approach from the member of staff and all gestured that I was first, I should have got a name, a shorter older lady with glasses, for this review but I was so upset. I don't go into Ashby very often and will definately not go to Birds again. Back to Greggs if I need anything.

Visited the derby store on thursday 17th of October on crown walk in the derbion shopping centre at 5.20pm, my daughter who is autistic wanted to purchase a chocolate lolly out of her own money. When I approached the counter a young girl stated it was card payments only, when I asked why, she said they were cashing up. My daughter had the exact change so there was no change needed, when I asked again why she couldn't pay with cash a rude lady shouted from the back " no I've cashed up ". I could of used my bank card but my daughter wanted to pay herself. The store states online that their closing is at 7pm so find it disgusting that they cash up so early taking away the option of customers not being able to pay by cash. I've emailed birds a couple of times with my complaint but heard nothing back. I find it completely disgusting that they haven't even acknowledged my complaint. I won't spent my money in a birds store again.......
