Bingham Birds staff very in helpful a smile would help, not good service cream not like proper cream but the stuff you get out of spray can yuck
Front of shop could do with a good wipe done and steps !

Birds have been synonymous in Derby with quality at a good price. I can remember how people in Derby would queue outside their shops from the early hours of the morning. OK these days they have more competition...but really the quality has diminished. Is it profiteering....or trying to keep up with the prices of competitors???
I went in and bought some custard tarts and vanilla slices. When I got them home I realised they were like half the size of how they were in the past. The vanilla slice was always a treat filled with cream. Not so now. I was left really disappointed. So poor Birds... shame on you...
Well I received a reply from Birds today [29 September] saying they hadn't reduced the size of their Vanilla Slices. Well, maybe they haven't THIS YEAR... but sadly that just not true. They are substantially smaller than they used to be...in line with many manufacturers you now pay more for less. I'd say if you have a quality product - which Birds used to have then you charge for it. But please don't try and con me by saying you haven't reduced you sizes when clearly you have...

As per previous review I contacted head office by email to complain about the service or rather lack of it at their Stapleford shop.
There was not even an acknowledgement so basically a complete waste of time.

I sent this email on the day we experienced Birds Bakery. Unfortunately I received no reply so I thought I’d go public so others don’t waste their money like we did as it appears head offfice don’t seem to accept feedback.

Good morning.

My wife and two children have just purchased your cooked sausage cobs from your Duffield store at approximately 9:00 this morning.
We usually stop off prior to a long car journey.

Unfortunately on this occasion we wish we hadn’t.

The service was slow - forgiven as perhaps your colleague was new. However the dried up sausages had the appearance and texture of reheated canteen food.

Obviously I can’t confirm they were reheated, as they were all stone cold, I suspected heating them a third time would only render them suitable for tent pegs.

Just letting you know as a premium price requires a premium product.

My sister who is 86 who lives in Langley Mill purchased a pork pie from the shop in Heanor yesterday. She has always shopped at Birds and the pork pie was a special treat. However the last two purchases have been peppery and contained a lot of gristle. As you can image they are not cheap being over £4 and she is a pensioner so has to be careful with our chases. As I said she uses this purchase as a treat but the last two have been out in the bin. She is unable to return the product relying on someone taking her shopping being disabled. She telephoned the shop and they requested she return the pie but as she was unable to do this she was told it would be recorded in the complaints book. She is not the only person who has found the same problem in the ingredients. Please will you look into this complaint. Thank you.

I ordered platters for a birthday party and they lived up to the description, and they went down very well with our guests. Marie at the Chaddesden shop was very helpful when I was both ordering and collecting the platters when she helped me get them to the car. All of our guests were thrilled when they saw we had Birds food.

The staff at Bird's bakery are always helpful and friendly. The steak slices are absolutely the best in the business- really would recommend them to anyone popping in.

We love Birds products so when we moved to live in cornwall no one could match them,we consequently have used the online delivery service a few times we had a slight hiccup with the couriers with our latest order but Birds replaced the delayed order and sent us some complimentary products.

Birds offers no milk alternatives or gluten free cakes, very poor for such a large brand

I've just tried Birds delivery service. It was okay. It was time to send my mother a gift, and I wanted to send her something different - I thought she might be bored of getting flowers and clothes, so I had a look at the Birds website and saw they did delivery.

My mother's always loved stuff from Birds Bakery, and we've been going to the one in Allenton for 40 years and they've always been great for food and service. I placed the order online on Saturday. It was very easy and quick to place - the easiest website I've ever used for ordering, so that was good. One down point was the postage was actually more than the price of the food, but I knew that when I ordered and decided I'd pay it anyway, so I can't complain about that - it was my choice.

I was surprised by the time it took for delivery: placed the order on Saturday and it arrived the following Friday, i.e. one week later. I don't know where they were delivered from, but a full week is pretty slow in my opinion, but then I don't know how fast other bakeries are, or if they even do deliveries.

The food itself was as good as ever, and arrived undamaged, so no worries there. The delivery man was very polite and professional.

I'll probably use the delivery service again on special occasions, like at Christmas, but it's too slow and the P&P is too expensive for me to use it regularly.

I am deeply disappointed with the filling or lack of it in the lamb pasties and the large steak pie was a joke

Shockingly bad service. There was a lady at the door controlling how many people could go in store with was fine except she was so rude. No greeting, no smile and even when I tried to crack a joke with her she just stood there completely ignoring me and didn't say a word.

Then when I go in to the store, the woman who served me was just as bad. I had to repeat my order three times (she couldn't hear me for some reason), again no hello, please, thank you or smile, no greeting whatsoever. She couldn't even be bothered to tell me what the total of my purchases were and just stood there. It was only when I looked down at the card machine that I knew how much I was paying because there was no acknowledgement from her. After I paid again no thank you or goodbye she just walked off to the next customer.

Shocking bad through and through. I love Birds but they seriously need some customer service training.

They sacked their 60 year old manager after 44 years of loyal service because she was kind and helpful to her regular elderly customers during covid 19. They don’t have plastic so she allowed them to pay by card. And for THAT she was sacked!! What a vile, reprehensible company. Avoid
