lousy service
Order placed(£2300) booked delivery slot 900-1030 due to traffic restrictions, delivery time confirmed, Delivery day driver turned up said order too big to deliver as restrictions in place, told them to come to barrier and would get the in, he walked to the Restaurant swore at the women saying delivery too F..ng big as its 2 f..ng big cages, i turned up told him how to get to site then walked off saying i was abusive to him, so he can swear at women but turns tale when a bloke turns up.

Shark practices and unfair trading
Wow! I thought it was maybe just me receiving a comedy service from these clowns. I’m currently collating evidence of unfair trading by Brake’s and will be taking these findings to the CMA. I’d advise anyone else to insist on emails from them and question why prices on their products can go up at as much as 50% week after week in some cases We challenge them regularly, a ridiculous excuse is plucked from the air, a couple of weeks later we start the merry go round again. It’s their MO. Shame, because some of their products are very good.

Awful sent me an email stating that there system had not taken payments of sone deliveries which was fair enough so I asked for a statement and which invoices were not paid. This was never sent. They decided to use my card without permission which was stored on their system and took three payments which amounted to £700.00 Which has a small business had quite an effect on The business for that day I would as a small business avoid them at all cost as meets that are delivered cooked always have a short day on them. You cannot freeze fresh meat obviously.
No fridge temp given as emailed and requested several times.

Driver Damaged my brand new van
Driver Damaged my brand new van, I had 4k video evidence even showing him inspecting the damage then driving off.
Brakes replied eventually with promises of a full Investigation and questioning the driver, then fobbed me off with their insurer who would not reply to me.
After that no reply from Brakes.

Unfortunately cannot recommend brakes London. Consistent errors in prepaid orders then weeks to get credit or repayment. Unfortunately no staff seem to want to take responsibility would recommend anyone else. Shout out to Deeside independent customer service for being particularly useless and the brakes depot for saying they’ll do things they don’t.
No communication
Ordered three fridges on Monday for next day delivery. Two days later I get an email to say they would arrive on Friday. We needed these urgently so after a quick phone call I was told they would arrive Thursday. Long story short I was told they were arriving 7 different times until they finally showed up 1 week after ordering. Not once did anyone from Brakes call me to voluntarily offer this information. Each time I had to phone for an update, despite leaving them my contact details. Very poor and we won't be ordering from them again.

I had worked for brakes and was disciplined due to a bracket that broke off the truck whilst pulling off a bay. Which held a mud guard in place despite stopping ✋ and calling it in following company policies and procedures. And took pictures I believe this is definitely one of those companies with a high staff turnover. And just like another gentleman said they say it’s okay but it’s not they should talk straight from the outset. If you want to work with brakes you need to know the devil your getting into bed with.
Absolutely Awful
Absolutely terrible place; especially to work. Everyone is two-faced and doesn't communicate, some really nice people but in general very snide. There is always things going wrong. You get sacked for absolutely no reason, or terrible reasons and no communication. Overall VERY unhygienic.
Really disappointed in Brakes
Really disappointed in Brakes. I bought a Dualit conveyer toaster which hardly browns the first slice then burns the second. After chasing them I finally got them to pick the item up but beware it is only covered for repair. It was sent to Dualit who, surprise, surprise, announced it was fine. They returned it minus one of the legs! So I will now be having to chase for that. Just beware that if you buy appliances from Brakes and there is something wrong you will have to be determined to get anything done about it.
Do not use!
I tried to order from them twice, second time they gave wrong produce and were VERY rude on the phone telling me i was wrong for an hour before admitting i was correct. The person I spoke to next laughed at our situation of late delivery, wrong produce delivered etc and when i asked them not to laugh as it was quite a stressful situation they hung up the phone. Making a complaint has no acknowledgement or resolution they say they just do internal investigations and you'll never hear about it or receive an apology etc. To be honest, the rep had the lQ of a shoelace, very unprofessional and a waste of time. Used to be good but i'm onto a local butcher, fish monger, veg guy etc and all the produce is much better, they never forget anything and do us great deals. Brakes is a dying brand in the hospitality industry.
Consistent delay and missed deliveries
Not sure if it's a driver issue but we rarely get a delivery inside the 7am-3pm window and the customer service repeatedly tell lies like "You're next" or "I can see the truck is close", when the reality is we're not next nor is the truck close. Exasperating for us trying to run a school restaurant with such a consistently tardy service. I wish they were honest, like just say you can't deliver or have driver issues today, so we aren't waiting in vain.

Brakes have been great
Brakes have been great! I get great pricing, numerous deliveries a week and even have a personal account manager. My account manager Bethany Ford is absolutely amazing, she always helps me find the right products for my store and is very quick to reply!
Excellent product range and quality goods
I can't recommend Brakes enough! Their staff is incredibly friendly, from the delivery drivers to the customer service team. I always feel valued as a customer, with regular check-in calls to ensure everything is going smoothly. Any issues I've encountered, whether on the website or otherwise, have been resolved promptly and professionally. Delivery has always been reliable, and it's fantastic to be able to order up until 5pm the day before. The recent website changes have made the experience even better. The one time in over a year of weekly orders we had a slightly delayed delivery due to traffic, Brakes Team kept us well informed throughout. Thank you, Brake Bros, for your exceptional service!

I have been with brakes now for nearly 2 years and I have to say that Beth Ford is an Absolute gem! Even tho she opened both my accounts she still goes out of her way to make shore we are looked after. We have been unfortunately been with out an account manager on and off but Beth still looks after us when I phone her asking form more and more! Thanks Beth Ford 🙂

Would give 0 starts if I could! Produce is always awful quality, food comes broken (tin of beans arrived damaged and exploded in our food cupboard.) 10 eggs broken. Milk leaking.
The potatoes are AWFUL!! Black inside, bruised, dirty, routes coming out. Takes us twice as long to prepare them as they’re so bad!!

not a sustainable company
This company claims to be environmentally friendly but they deliver food in large polluting lorries with loud generators with no consideration of the environment or any residents living near delivery sites. The drivers refuse to turn off engines claiming the food will spoil. It's about time Brakes put their money where they mouth is and bought some smaller electric vans.
