I have always had a certain distrust of financial institutions in general, so choosing a bank when leaving the UK to live abroad was not something I took lightly. However, my experience with Britline over the last six years has been consistently positive.
Before moving to France, I transferred my life savings to Britline, and throughout my time there they supported me through both the purchase and eventual sale of my French property. I have since moved to Spain and still intend to maintain my accounts with them for savings purposes.
Over the years, and through some very significant financial transactions, I have always received personal attention from English-speaking consultants via phone and email. Communication has consistently felt natural, friendly, and genuinely human — never robotic or overly officious.
My current dealings are with Sophie Dumbleton, who is naturally pleasant and clearly takes pride in helping customers, even in more complicated situations. That personal approach really makes a difference.
I genuinely struggle to think of any time when I have had cause for complaint, which says a great deal about how well-run the organisation is overall. Even the app being partially in English is a helpful touch.
I did initially question the monthly banking fees, as UK residents are often unused to paying them. However, I now appreciate that the fees reflect the level of support, security, and English-language assistance provided. In my opinion, the modest cost is absolutely worthwhile for the reassurance and service received.

Dave Metcalfe at Britline handled our mortgage here in France with such professionalism, above and beyond what you would expect from any bank. He is a terrific advisor in every way and also a genuinely nice person! He listened, responded with kindness, was totally transparent and kept us up to the minute with the whole process. I could not recommend Britline, and especially Dave, more highly. They also sorted our life insurance, home insurance and we also used their money exchange service BIPS to wire our deposit. All fantastic services, best prices and easy to complete. If you are from the UK, US, Ireland or anywhere that Britline serves and you are coming to live, work, buy property in France, Britline should be your first and only choice for all of your banking needs.

When moving to France from Mallorca, where I had lived for a bit more than twenty years, one of the decisions I had to make was finding a bank. I had been lucky in Mallorca to have a very competent bank to work with and I was concerned that in France, it might be difficult to find one that equals the service and banking experiences I had been having. And then I opened an account with Britline. That was two years ago, and over these past two years, I have had nothing but exceedingly good experiences with Britline. Your people are more than accommodating and helpful. I thank you for being so customer-focused. And just a side note: your ranking system is nice but given the option, I would have clicked on more than five stars. Merci beaucoup.

We have banked with Credit Agricole Britline for almost 20 years and we've always had excellent service. For most of that time, we've had the same account manager - David Metcalfe - and he has also been excellent. He responds quickly and efficiently to any queries we've raised and he always takes the time to make sure we're happy with any proposed changes. Having a known and friendly 'face' really makes a difference to the banking experience.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend CA Britline to anyone needing banking services.
