We were unstructed to carry out emergengy work by Browns Letting Agents 10 months ago. No payment for work completed, multiple promises to pay, contractors beware!

I recently had an encounter with Buckley Brown Estate Agents from Mansfield. Initially, all communication went well, and I was given a lot of hope regarding a property I was interested in renting in Newark. It took me two and a half hours to get to the property since I am located outside the Nottinghamshire area.

When I arrived, I liked the layout of the property, but I noticed that no work had been done on it. Although the layout was similar to the photos on the website, the decoration was quite run-down, despite being labelled as "ready to move in." Desperate to move, I decided to go ahead with the rental, hoping to renovate the space.

I filled out all the necessary paperwork and paid the holding deposit. I was excited until I received some documents that I took my time to read, even the fine print. I sent them a long list of detailed questions regarding the property, including whom to contact in case of an emergency, whether the landlord would repaint, fix the doors, and repair the fence and gate as seen in the pictures, and whether the gas and water meters had been read to document the previous tenant's usage.

Some of my questions were answered, while others were dismissed. Then, I received a call from my agent with bad news: the landlord decided not to proceed with my application, and my holding deposit would not be refunded. To make matters worse, they accused me of being dishonest in an attempt to instil fear so that I wouldn't claim my deposit back. Their statement clearly said that if the landlord pulls out, I should get my money back, but if the tenant withdraws, the deposit would be forfeited. I was not at fault in this situation.

I asked them where my deposit would go if they refused to reimburse me, but they provided no answer. I suspect they pull this tactic on many prospective tenants to collect deposits. They continue to avoid giving me back my deposit.

I strongly advise caution when dealing with Buckley Brown Estate Agents and particularly with the property on Kingway Avenue in New Ollerton, as it seems to be a vehicle for their deceptive practices. I feel victimised in this situation. Those who left more than a 1-star review appear to be individuals involved in buying or selling properties, while renters like me, who are looking for homes, may end up scammed. Please conduct thorough research and read reviews carefully before engaging with this agency.

Didn't show photos inside the house in the advertisement, so emailed them asking if there was any photos but there didnt bother replying. i emailed again but the same email came back as not being found.

I sold a house in 2017 when Buckley Brown was a much smaller company. Jon Brown was very proactive and the sale went seamlessly. I sold a house with a competitor which went really well in 2019. I Instructed Buckley Brown in September to sell my current property. Luke, the valuer was faultless, perfect. It went down hill.from there really. The photographs of the house weren’t great to be honest. When I questioned the photographs I was asked to take more using my iPhone 😩. The negotiator called me weekly but didn’t seem to recall previous conversations re asking price etc. I saw Buckley Browm listing properties we’d have been interested in through my own research rather than them letting me know. I think this company has grown very quickly but I wouldn’t use again sadly.

Viewed a rental property with Browns last month. The woman who showed me around was rude, judgemental and didn't have the answers to any questions I asked. The previous tenant was there at the time of the viewing who stood there with her arms crossed and laughed when I asked questions regarding the property. Seems like she didn't want to be there and should be in another profession.

Disgraceful service from Brown's in the handling of poor communications, shabby service and withholding our deposit, despite the fact they had already stated there was no issues in the return of it. The problem is mainly the attitiude of the Lettings Mananger, who right from the start of the rental had a curt attitude, impolite and quite simply rudely ignored messages towards the end. This woman is intellectually not up to the job, so anyone considering renting from Brown's, please bear this in mind. And do NOT expect your deposit refunded as swiftly as expected.

Andrea and Tony at Brown's of Norton Estate Agents provided a great service from start to finish. We were looking at moving to the Norton area and they both worked very hard on finding our ideal property to match our requirements. Photos and knowledge of property were of a very good quality and we visited on a number of occasions which was no problem to them. Communication was very good and Andrea and Tony were always available to answer any questions. We would highly recommend their services.

This was the 1st time we have rented a property and we must say the process was no problem, if we had any problems Alison was on the ball and the relationship between us, Alison and the Landlord was excellent 👍 we recently bought a bungalow and even when we ended the tenancy we still received the same helpfulness from them all ….I can strongly recommend this Letting Agency as being fair to the tenant and the Landlord…Thank You

Great service from start to finish. Within a day of signing up to Brown's the house had been photographed and was online with photos - much faster than some other companies. Photos were of a good quality and showed the house well. Communication was great, Andrea and Tony were always on hand to answer any questions. Highly recommended.
