So I did have a problem with BMCS due to some late payment fees but they have since given a good will gesture and I now only have to pay the actual balance owed. BMCS hasn't improved my credit score... Toon meer

Worst app i ever used


I had a very disappointing experience with BuildMyCreditScore. Despite requesting to close my account before the subscription renewal date, the company insisted that I pay the full annual fee before they would process my cancellation. This policy feels unfair and exploitative, especially when I no longer have any use for the app.

To make matters worse, the app did not deliver on its primary promise: improving my credit score. Despite following their guidance, I saw no meaningful improvement. I feel misled and regret subscribing in the first place. I cannot recommend this service to anyone looking to improve their credit score. Its a scam

We've had a look into the experience you've described in your review and can see that this doesn't match what actually happened when you contacted our Customer Support team.

We can see that you contacted the team on January 14th, and your renewal date was on January 11th. This meant that when the Customer Support team responded to you on the 14th and 15th, they informed you that the collection process was already in progress and that you would need to wait for the payment to finalise before your account could be cancelled and the fee refunded.

We can see that you ended up cancelling your Direct Debit before the payment was collected from your bank account so no refund was required and your account was fully closed on the 15th.

We're sorry that you didn't get the benefits of the product that you were hoping for. BuildMyCreditScore should be seen as part of a journey to help you improve your Credit Score. It's not a quick fix and there are factors outside of BuildMyCreditScore that can cause your score to go up or down on a month to month basis. This includes any other bills, credit cards, debts, or loans etc you may have through other services.

Our evidence shows that the majority of our customers that used the product, as recommended, see an increase in their score of between 11 and 55 points within the first 3 months. As mentioned, individual results may vary and your credit score is made up of a number of factors that could impact your results.

Thanks for taking the time to leave this review.

We've had a look with our Customer Support team and can see that you contacted at just after 8am on December 18th to ask why your credit score hadn't changed that month.

The team responded just after 9:30am explaining that BuildMyCreditScore should be seen as a 12 month journey to help you improve your Credit Score. It's not a quick fix and there are factors outside of BuildMyCreditScore that can cause your score to go up or down on a month to month basis. This includes any other bills, credit cards, debts, or loans etc you may have through other services.

You raised 2 further support requests later that same morning asking the same question and received a response within 15 minutes.

You then asked for a phone conversation and our Customer Support team responded to ask when would be a good time for a call. You did not respond to this message which is why you were not called.

Overall, we can see that your score has increased by 47 points since you signed up in October, which is great to see. Keep up the good work!

MY Credit Score hasn't improved!

MY Credit Score hasn't improved, despite me keeping up with payments and not affecting my score in any other way. I feel that my money is wasted.

Building credit as i save

I would like to recommend build credit to anyone struggling with getting a good credit score
Using build credit card is a lovely way of saving as you get yourself in good books with agencies

To be honest

To be honest, it's all a bit confusing & when you ask any questions. You never get an answer. My score dropped over 100 points one month & I wanted to know why & either they just don't know or they won't tell you. All I got from the conversation was they want you to pay more money for nothing. As all they keep saying instead of answering is please think of this as a 12 month journey. I'm coming up to the 6 months that I paid for & will not be renewing it. If your thinking of using this company don't. Find another way to improve your score.

First of all, despite the previous 100 point drop you mentioned, your score has still increased by 114 since you signed up in July which is great to see!

To clarify, as we are not a Credit Referencing Agency, we cannot say for sure why your score dropped because we don't have access to all the data required. Your score is calculated by these agencies based on reports they receive from all products that report to them.

This is why our Customer Support team was unable to give you the exact reasons for your score dropping in October.

Bad card, terrible customer service

It had taken far too many emails to get the customer service to understand the most simple of tasks of unfreezing my card. I’m extremely unhappy with the card and the service it’s so much more hard work than other cards I’ve used to build credit in the past. You should most definitely be able to load more than £20 on your card, it’s your own money so £20 makes no sense. I have £4000 in my Chase account that I use as my main card and you also don’t accept Chase so I have to open a bank account up to put a measley £20 in

The card I can see from other reviews is making people upset over the small £20 limit which again is outrageous and silly as it’s not borrowed money it’s OUR money so why have £20 ? You just can’t cope with this limit it’s such hard work to keep changing from bank account to bank account with a measley €20 especially makes it harder as Chase ain’t an option but I use Chase due to the cashback they provide just like anyone else
You’re losing customers over this all

The card most definitely needs an evaluation and some changes to it
I would like this sent to the Top manager in charge to look at making changes

This is the same reply we all get as customers, it’s not good enough. We ain’t looking for Credit, this card isn’t Credit it’s our own money so why they can’t make it £50 plus I have no idea. To mess about on tiny purchases and remember to top it up is hard work

It really does need a £50 plus limit it’s our own money afterall not credit

Your card was frozen because you cancelled we were unable to collect your subscription for the month, which is in line with our Terms and Conditions. It was unfrozen once the money was collected.

The limits for BuildMyCreditScore are deliberately low, as the product is designed for small purchases like coffee, snacks and other incidentals, as well as regular payments like Netflix and Spotify. We will then collect the payment from your linked account via Direct Debit a couple of days later.

Making these small purchases using BuildMyCreditScore allows us to report your spend to Credit Reference Agencies and help improve your credit score, without the risk of needing to use a high interest credit card.

We make sure to advertise the card accordingly on our website and FAQs, as we are not trying to offer large credit limits to customers.

If in doubt

If in doubt, give it a go what have you got to lose?
You can't lose points off your score signing up for the card before they have even taken the first payment you will of gained 15 points on your credit rating. I didn't believe the claims either now I just wish I would of done it weeks ago...
