Carmel Car & Limousine Reviews 

My daughter ordered and pre-paid for a car to take myself and husband from Roosevelt Island to JFK to catch an international flight on the 1 June. Five minutes after the time the car was due to turn up, they phoned my daughter to say that they didn't have a car in the area and wouldn't commit to a time to pick us up. We cancelled the Carmel car and found a local car service to take us to the airport, though at considerably higher cost. If Carmel knew in advance that they couldn't supply the service, why did they not make contact in good time so that we could make alternative arrangements without panic. We have used this service for a number of years but will not do so again.

I booked a trip to the airport and the driver could not find my address to pick me up. He called and was unable to communicate with me effectively in English. After about 30 minutes of discussion with Carmel’s office and indirectly with the driver we discovered he was 10 minutes away. Because I was concerned about missing my flight I had to grab a taxi to get to the airport. To add insult to injury Carmel charged me for the service that they were unable to provide because of their incompetent driver. I would avoid using this substandard car service.

Short story: use Uber! Long story: I have never been treated as such a fool before.. when booking the app was saying $55~ but as soon as we reach destination the driver wanted to charge us $75! Driver simply washes his hands saying it’s not his call and that we should talk to the manager. Called the manager on spot just to receive a response of a non-stop-talking parrot yelling and never letting you discuss the situation at all! The police had to come and that’s when the driver spits out that it was an $12~ fees (which is neither detailed in their receipt) and 15% of self imposed tips that he was hiding from the very start. The only reason we chose Carmel was because it was way cheaper than Uber but they simply hide the actual price in the app until the very end of the trip when you (without doubts) end up with a surprised face. Uber was $65 but telling you from the very beginning and without trying to scam you. Conclusion: why bother downloading a new app which simply steals your data and won’t ever be honest with the price until the trip is finished?

Over half an hour late for hotel pick up!. We were due to be picked up from our hotel to travel to the airport and asked to be in the lobby 15mins before pick up time, which was 4.15am. We waited and waited and waited. It was now 4.40am, after calling Carmel (and talking to VERY rude staff - he cut me off and i had to call back) they said the driver had been waiting for over 25 minutes. It turns out he was at the wrong hotel! Despite confirming the day before and our email stating the correct hotel the company tried to blame us. Eventually the driver pulled up at 4.50am (over half an hour after the agreed time!). We were then on a race against time to get to the airport and ensure we dod not miss the flight home!. AVIOD this unprofessional company at all costs! I pre booked this service so expected it to be more professional and on time!.

We prebooked our taxi service from JFK Airport to Times Square. Landed at JFK collected our luggage after 14 hours of travelling all we wanted to do was get to our destination. We rang and rang serveral different numbers not one of them was answered. Therefore no taxi turned up they had already taken the money from our account, I emailed and complained via the website but no communication was received and no refund!!! I wouldn’t use this company at all just grab a taxi at the airport it’s so much easier and hassle free!

My other half booked this service to take us to a new years eve party. Bear in mind the total journey distance was 0.8 miles but since it was going to be raining heavily and my other half was in heals we decided a car would be the best choice of transportation.
The car arrived 40 mins late. (I could have walked to the venue and back in this time)
When the driver arrived he proceeded to argue with my other half about that somehow his delay was not his fault and was somehow ours, Even though we were stood at the front of our hotel the whole time.
Now I knew new years traffic in midtown could be quite a challenge with the times square road closers ect. Our driver Did Not! He was clueless as to what was going on and was completely reliant on the Waze Driving app! Not what I would call a "Professional premium service. After all that I had to guide him most of the way as I had checked the road closures earlier that day. His driving was dangerous & erratic as he was getting stressed. To top it all off he didn't even get us anywhere near to venue, so we ended up walking from (0.4 miles away) Half the Journey! Luckily I had an umbrella but we still got to the venue absolutely soaked! Thank God the staff at the venue were friendly and made our night memorable.
On reflection we should have got a Yellow cab or an Uber.
This service was probably the worst I have ever experienced, don't make the same mistake we did!

Called them as requested as we exited Chicago airport, was cut off, called straight back to be told my driver was outside with a card with our name on, there were supposed to be 2 cars, neither were there and was told by the guy on the phone he was in New York, spoken to dispatch in Chicago who said the car ( not cars) has already left and they would not dispatch again. Quite simply a dreadful service. Will never use again. Then had to pay for a taxi to get us into town after already having paid this shower.

Absolutely the worst car service in the city. They used to be good, but in the past year they have called at the last minute twice to say they didn't have any cars, and they have been half an hour late twice. People call for cars when they need to be somewhere on time! Will never use them again. They are cheap for a reason.

Very reliable and dependable. They are always early and waiting for the customer. Drivers are courteous and the trip is always comfortable. Reasonable prices as well. Please know that there is a $10 incentive for submitting this review so I encourage customers to submit reviews

Booked and paid for a luxury SUV. A minivan turned up to collect us. No apology. No refund. And now having sent numerous emails over the last couple of weeks I'm yet to receive a reply. Shocking service. Avoid.

Did not even reply to a few questions that have led to multiple bookings with their competitor.

The driver we had from Manhattan to JFK airport was either fighting falling asleep while driving or was dealing with a medical issue that looked like small seizures. I reported this to the company and in return received a general letter containing a digital discount for a future ride. They did not in any way address the concern I raised. Unbelievable that the company would not acknowledge this serious issue nor how they would proceed from here. Definitely will NEVER use this company again. Horrible customer care department.

On time for pick up at both destinations getting us to where we needed to be in time - which was great.

I was a bit disappointed as the car was just a regular car - there was NOTHING "luxury" about it - despite picking a VIP luxury sedan... It was a regular car - not like the website.

I needed a car with ailing elderly man for a trip to hospital emergency room . Carmel arrived within 15min of call got me promptly there Driver helped both getting into & exiting car

Carmel Car service New York. Vi havde booket shuttle i New York fra Newark lufthavn til Manhattan tur/retur. Betalt på forhånd. Ringede til firmaet i ankomst hallen, som de selv havde skrevet vi skulle. Efter 45 minutter var der ikke sket noget. Ringede til dem igen. Fik så at vide, vi skulle gå ud på gaden og over vejen. Da de påstod de havde været der tidligere, skulle vi betale parkering osv. Kunne ikke selv vælge tips beløb mm. Alt Ialt havde vi på forhånd betalt 850 kr for tur/retur, men oveni kom 65 dollars. Som ikke stod nogen steder. Vil ikke anbefale dette firma.

This is the best way into and around the city. Drivers are professional, not like other car services where they don't vet the drivers.

Made a complaint, never got a reply. Enough to show that they are not to be trusted.

I got a quote from the Caramel App for a discounted price to the airport. (I even have a picture of the quote), I thought it was part of thier Car Cash offer, (which is very confusing and not clear how it works). But I did get a quote for $17.00 to JFK and was amazed. I also prepaid it. When I got in the car, the driver told me that was wrong, and I showed the him the quote I received. We then called the office and they were rude and said iit would never be $17.00! They added $35.00 when I got to the airport! I still have a picture of the quote if anyone wants to see it.

I asked to take a toll free route from JFK into Manhattan. I was told NO then driver called central office. They said the route is up to the driver and if he wants to take the toll road then I'm required to pay it. He said it's all listed on the website. All the web says that tolls and gratuity are additional. Not that I may not choose a route that saves me $8 and only adds 5 minutes to the trip. I then said I would pay the EZ pass fee since they use that not the full toll but again the answer was NO. I never had a car service mandate that I take a toll route when a toll free option is available and the travel time is comparable. This is a ripoff and BAD service.
