Thanks to our CITB rep Sarah, we managed to get our grants sorted when our apprentice moved from one course to another.
We didn’t realise this could be done.
Sarah has been helpful with other issues over the last few years too

Mark is a fantastic trainer with friendly teaching method, I will recommend him over and over again

Following my part 1 course i have returned for part 2. A basic recap of part 1, no new information. Recieved a 5page handout on beamwork, a minor snipet from the TG21 guidance book. Being trained to be TG21 compliant but have no access to the guidance book or even provide a complaince sheet. A pathetic PowerPoint presentation is all I have seen covering transom spacing and bracing. Everything erected is to the wrong drawing dated 2018. Feel like I have sat a 2 week course costing thousands too change my card colour I have not walked away with any new information or bettered myself from being here. Seems cutbacks have hit Erith college hard but yet they give away free lunches now to make up for it. If I hadn't wasted so much time and money I would re sit it at a different place and hopefully feel I have my moneys worth. 10 people in the class provides an income of over £15k in 10 days but yet CITB can't afford to be an NASC member and provide upto date guidance documentation but the course is all about NASC and TG21? My heads hurting...

I found Amanda most helpful and informative when addressing queries I had regarding our apprentices. At the conclusion of our telephone conversation I felt completely satisfied that I had gained increased knowledge about the training, processing of funding and how their qualifications were gained.

As other have stated, this isn't about health and safety on construction sites.

Some questions ask about finances. But my main gripe is that all we are doing is learning the answer to 300+ questions. The worst is the ambiguity to so many questions that are worded "SHOULD", "COULD" or "WHY WOULD". Example, something has happened on your site, what is ONE reason the company SHOULD record what happened. It gives you 3 answers that are good reasons and 1 that's clearly wrong. The answer apparently is that "it shows that the company has good policies".
There's no legal requirement in the situation so this is purely the opinion of citb that you keep something "to look good".... Where reality is you keep it for future claims or because it may be useful later on if the situation becomes worse/gets escalated, you know, for legal reasons.

That's just one example of the ridiculous question, or more the point, ridiculous answers to their questions.

Nickie from NEST has been brilliant from day one. She answers all queries quickly and chases everything up for you.

The NEST Team at CITB have been extremely helpful regarding our companies new bricklaying apprentices. A catch up call from Kevin, I had a few notifications on our grant claim unable to see the issue; the call solved the problem in a few minutes and also got some advice on NVQS. Great service

Allison Morris is amazing and was so helpful
in the initial set up of the apprenticeship. She absolutely knows her stuff and supports you in every avenue of the process. With regular check ins throughout the past 2 years and the best level of service, I’d highly recommend for any area of the service !!
