Unprofessional private company that should be banned.
This absolutely unprofessional private company and its operation should be banned. Their so called “accreditation” has no validity, but continue to operate and deliberately frustrate people for their own perverse enjoyment. The HSE informed me that there is absolutely no legal requirement or validity for any construction practice to use their "accreditation" to prove anything. Pleased to say that the second largest professional practice in the UK will soon be ditching their association with CITB/CSCS.

ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME, LINING THEIR OWN POCKETS
The Construction Industry Training Board is a complete money generating fund for themselves with little if no help to the construction industry, they charge a levy on all payments to sub contractors regardless of profit. They removed offsetting of safety talks against the levy which help reduce it dramatically. They offer no help, their staff are unhelpful, there are no grants and it actually costs more to do the courses than you get back. My advice would be to open several companies and pay sub contractors though each of these to keep you under the threshold otherwise when they get your claws into you you have no way of escaping these dreadful money making people. Where does all the money go ????????? The government should really be stepping in to stop this robbery from small construction companies that are being bled dry by the CITB.

The h&s test for operatives is a joke
The h&s test for operatives is a joke, I’m a labourer so why is the test 50 questions with a pass mark of 90% when most of the questions have nothing to with labouring?, I don’t use power tools nor am I a specialist all I do is sweep and tidy up rubbish and occasionally move materials and yet I need to answer 45 questions correctly for that pathetic

MAP - Too difficult
Too difficult. 2013 116 pages, 2018 111 pages, 2024 244 pages.
I'm inclined to agree with many of the comments on here, I believe that it is purposely made too hard to generate resit revenue, so, yes, this is just a money making scam and contributes little to actual site safety.
I have read your responses to other reviewers too but my opinion remains unchanged, this is just a money making scam which is significantly affecting peoples lives and jobs.
The subject matter is too broad, nobody needs to know that much other than maybe a few in very senior positions.
It is about time that you accepted what you're being told by these reviewers, many of whom will have many years site experience, and stop trying to justify this scam.

It’s disappointing to read that you’re not happy with the test. The updated questions and revision content have been designed to meet the minimum criteria required by CSCS, who are responsible for the cards this test supports, and to reflect changes in legislation, technology and working practices. The changes have not been made, as you say for a 'money making scam'.
Managers and Professionals have a high level of responsibility within their roles, with a duty to protect those they manage and even those they don’t. They must understand the risks of working in a construction environment, lead by example, and have the tools to embed and implement health and safety protocols and procedures. Everyone working within construction is important to us and our primary focus is improving health and safety knowledge within the sector - to keep people safe.
The 90% pass mark is the same for all HS&E tests (Managers and Professionals, Operatives and Specialist tests), to ensure consistency.
We do understand that some of the content may be new, but the revision material provides an opportunity to check your knowledge. Due to the amount of new and enhanced content for the MAP test, we have been strongly recommending that candidates allow sufficient time for revision.

I passed this cscs test i received my new card with 3 months missing, my friend received his card with 2 years missing so work that out!, also on my new card my photo is exactly the same as my old photo taken 5 years ago, what a joke of a company

bunch of crooks ,money making scams .even though i knew the answers to 95% 0f the exam i was told i failed on 2 occassions. theyre simply making money out of us who are struggling to make a living

joke, scam, passed, 3 weeks later still no pdf cert, 3 weeks?
i passed mine on the 19th march and its now the 8th april, still no pdf cert sent to me after 3 weeks,
over the phone they keep saying it will come, you have to allow for this and also this and its keeps going on and on, 7 - 10 working days, maybe mondays and tuesdays is the only working days to them lol,
this is the email they sent to me below -

Horrible experience.
I sat the CITBe online.Sounded great as so convenient to sit online.I set up my test for 8pm...That's when it all went wrong....Firstly the over the top instructions on how to log on just before the test us allowed to be taken were over complicated.However after getting through all security stuff I didn't get the test to start despite relogging/loading it just ran past the 10 min overtime allowed
.Now if I read correctly it said they would not take money if not sat....WRONG..took £99 pounds around 5 days later...Horrendously frustrating experience...Avoid.. Avoid. Avoid.

Not fit for purpose - there are so many affiliate companies now claiming to be associated with and taking money for fees/courses which are not directly linked to this company and the test/card issue process is vastly flawed in terms of validating knowledge, how can a short 10 min test ensure continuity of H&S on site

The CITB Health, Safety and Environment Tests (HS&E) are currently priced at £22.50. We are aware that some third-party companies charge an additional amount for ‘administration’, which can make taking the HS&E Tests more expensive. Any additional charges should always be outlined clearly on their website.
If you’ve paid more than £22.50 for your test, you should first speak to your provider to understand why. If you’re still unhappy with the outcome your next option is to complain to your local Trading Standards Office (TSO).
We strongly advise that HS&E Tests are booked directly with CITB. You can do this here - https://www.citb.co.uk/courses-and-qualifications/health-safety-and-environment-hse-test-and-cards/book-a-test/ .
You refer to ‘a short 10 min test’, there are online CITB sample questions and short preparation tests that can be used as part of the revision process, to check knowledge. But, there are currently no final tests that can be taken in 10 minutes – as you suggest your breadth of knowledge could simply not be shown in such a short amount of time.

Just disgusting what the CITB is doing to this industry.
This is NOT about improving safety.
This is purely a money making merry-go-round for them.
For a start, what other app developers charge same-cost payment for EVERY update?
These tests are ridiculous now. I'm a site manager with 25 years experience and a degree in Civil Engineering from one of the best universities in the country. I'm now looking at having to take a week off to study for this test. This is not an exercise in updating or improving my concept of health and safety. This is an exercise in MEMORISING the hundreds of word-twist, semantic-based, trick questions. JUST PATHETIC.

CITB CSCS Testing Process NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!
I have taken the CITB - CSCS MAP test twice and failed both. But when I say 'FAILED', I 'FAILED' both times with a final test mark of just below 90%! And I should point out that I have held Management Level CSCS Cards since 2008!
There are numerous reviews here that have highlighted the same situation. As such I would like to reiterate what others have indicated that it has nothing to do with wanting to ensure that construction managers on site have a proven level of competence. It unfortunately appears to be nothing more than an opportunistic process for financial gain with the CITB having a monopoly on Construction Training and Certification in the UK.
This situation significantly impacts the Construction industry and actively denies people the opportunity to secure employment. How can this possibly be considered a positive effect on the Construction sector? The changes to the CSCS MAP Testing process have been poorly implemented with very little foresight and need to be urgently reconsidered.

What a joke, paid the £45 to do the test, passed the test so applied for my card to be updated, only to be told you have to pay another £130+ and do another test before they can issue my green card, tell me why you are hitting and hurting the honest working bloke..

If you feel that you have been misled into thinking you were dealing with CITB directly or have paid over the odds for your test, you should first complain to the third-party company used. If that is unsuccessful your next option is to complain to your local Trading Standards Office (TSO).
We strongly advise people to book a HS&E Test directly with CITB and we continue to review third-party activities in an attempt to prevent customers being misled in this way. It should be clear though that CITB has no influence over third-party companies’ complaint procedures.

Citb CSCS test
I think I was experiencing computer error most of the time I write my test the result produce by citb cannot be trusted. I have covered every aspect and topics yet I can't pass my test, I have failed several times when expecting a good result to be honest I prefer a paper test and not computer test, you can't collect your marking script after finishing your test nor the question you even answer. I have revised everything in citb CSCS test but not productive I don't know who to speak to about CSCS test matter while have been working in construction for more than 8 years, I passed the test on two previous occasion and collected my CSCS card and now it look like is not possible anymore.
Can somebody please do something?.

Not really fit for purpose
I have to admit after reading other reviews I’m of the same opinion regards the MAP test. For the majority most of the questions are worded in a terminology that is not really used in real life situations. I downloaded the app to revise and I find once you get to a level of almost reaching the pass mark. The questions are changed to something completely irrelevant . I work with heavy plant on construction sites but being asked the temperates of food leaves me some what baffled. Then there how they word the CDM regulations. It’s totally out of touch for general life on site. There’s even questions on there that require you to answer a question to get it right however in a real life site terms it would not be the correct answer.
