$1,300 is losses with clutter
We relied on Clutter for storage services and expected basic care and accountability. Instead, when our items were returned, one large box was missing entirely and another item was damaged. The combined value of what was lost/damaged is around $1,300.
When we filed a claim, Clutter offered just $80 in compensation. Their response was that anything more isn’t possible because the items were “not insured.”
This explanation is unacceptable. Insurance is meant for unpredictable events—not for failures in inventory control and handling. Losing a customer’s belongings is not an “unforeseen circumstance”; it reflects a breakdown in operations and responsibility.
If Clutter’s policy is that customers must absorb major losses when the company itself loses or damages property, that’s a serious red flag. It signals a lack of accountability, inadequate safeguards, and a claims process that protects the company rather than the customer.
We trusted Clutter to store and return our possessions. Instead, we were left with a significant financial loss and no meaningful recourse. A $1,300 loss with an $80 payout is indefensible, and customers deserve better transparency and protection.
We’re sharing this experience so others understand what may happen if something goes wrong using Clutter.
Clutter Has Worked Well For Me!
Clutter has been a positive experience for the past several years that I've used their services. At first I was skeptical because its a different kind of storage model than I was familiar with. But they have been responsive, staff is professional and can securely wrap anything you might want to store no matter the size or shape of the item. I also feel that the price is fair for what you get. Im a longtime customer and I'm still adding to my storage and still pleased with the service. I'd recommend Clutter to anyone.

The drivers were friendly
The drivers were friendly and good natured. No glasses or ceramics arrived broken so that is great. However, the way some small things like jewelry were packed did not make sense as they were lumped in with other items, causing a little havoc when emptying the tall box. Overall good though.

Words cannot express the level of incompetence and disregard displayed by this company. They handled our belongings with such carelessness that it resulted in numerous broken and missing items. The movers seemed to have no regard for the property we entrusted them with, as evidenced by the MANY broken items, crushed boxes, dirty furniture, and scratched surfaces that greeted us upon delivery. It is clear that this company lacks the basic professionalism and respect for such a crucial service. Save yourself the headache and avoid Clutter at all costs.

This company pretends to be something it's not.
The easy user-interface makes it easy to believe that they are organized. I called them multiple times to be sure, and spoke to different reps who answered my questions. But now; they have my belongings and will not return them the way they said they will.

Terrible Experience
Please listen to me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.
I rented out my home and moved my items to clutter while i looked for a new place, first they took a riduclous amount of time to pack the items so that it would exceed the free 5 hours and charged me over $150. Next i tried getting a file out of my storage, I had to drive 3 hours away to the middle of nowhere to pick up the item and was charged a $150 restocking fee, to pick up my own item. Then most recently, I scheduled to have my items delivered because I have a new place. While scheduling it over the phone the lady made a mistake and canceled it and rebooked it correctly, and they charge me a $100 cancelation fee, for a mistake that they made! They outsource their customer service to India, and the specialists are not helpful at all, they cant solve any actual problem, they just say they are filing a claim and the claims never get resolved.
The last straw, it came time for my apointment this past saturday 11/22 they messaged me the DAY OF during the appointment time stating the apointment was being canceled due to a "major operational issue" and rescheduled the the appointment to the next day - November 23rd. I called in and spoke with their India customer service team, all they said was theres no possible way to help and that i have to wait until the next day. Mind you I had paid for help already, and had other people who had taken time out of their day to help and they were telling me this last minute.
Then the next day, Sunday, i had re-hired more help and the same thing happened AGAIN. They texted and emailed me stating "Due to operational issues, we will not be able to service your appointment today," and this time they rescheduled me all the way out to December 1st. I now have to change travel plans and miss work, to accomodate this new date that doesnt work for me which is a week day.
I called and complained they provided no solution, i told them that date doesnt work they would not budge. They said if i chose a weekend, it's likely the movers will call out of work, so this is why they moved it to a Monday (weekday) because movers dont call out as much on weekdays. So come to find out the "major operational issues" relate to their movers calling out of work day of.
This company advertises itself as picking up your stuff and storing it and then allowing you to schedule delivery, but I have had a issue at every step of the way, but the final step has been eggregious. If customers are not allowed to schedule weekend deliveries of their items without significant risk of cancelation because of their movers canceling, and this is a known problem, this should be made clear upfront. instead they say what they need to say to get your money, and them they screw you over on the back end with absolutely no remorse. Meanwhile they charge you for every little thing along the way, even for their own mistakes, but yet they will completely screw over your and make their unreliable movers your problem with no recourse. They dont have state side customer service, they outsource to India and dont equip them with the adequate tools to actually solve your problems. This has been a traumatic experience. I have no clue when I will actually get my items, this has cause me and my family alot of pain. PLEASE, SPARE YOURSELF., DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I appreciate the help, the movers were both very nice and kind. However they moved very slow and took a lot of time. I chose clutter specifically because the deal on paying for the storage with 6 hours of free movers. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, had everything boxed up, and somehow it took them 7.5 hrs to move my things. I moved in to this apartment in less than 3 hrs.

I had a terrible experience with this moving company. They were scheduled to arrive between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM for my move. During that entire window, we had the freight elevator booked, and my girlfriend waited at the apartment for them.
They didn’t show up until after 3:00 PM, over three hours late. By then, the freight elevator was no longer available and my girlfriend had to leave to catch her flight. I contacted the concierge, who kindly offered to stay in the apartment and supervise the move — but the movers still refused to do the job, even after being given full access.
Instead, they cancelled my booking on the spot.
This happened on the final day of my lease, leaving me completely stranded with no movers at 3 PM on a Sunday. On top of that, they now have the audacity to charge me a cancellation fee for a cancellation they caused by turning up late and refusing to work.
