Just a money making scam, do they not realise there is a huge skills shortage in the industry.

This absolutely unprofessional private company and its operation should be banned. Their so called “accreditation” has no validity, but continue to operate and deliberately frustrate people for their own perverse enjoyment. The HSE informed me that there is absolutely no legal requirement or validity for any construction practice to use their "accreditation" to prove anything. Pleased to say that the second largest professional practice in the UK will soon be ditching their association with CSCS.

What a complete rip off this certificate has become. It's literally a license to print money

A total scam, I have been in the industry 38 years employed with numerous companies as a project manager came to renew my black card
(previously held black cards for 10 years), having passed the CITB health and safety test was told unless I haver a level 4 NVQ Qualification I cannot have a card.

This is like saying your degree is invalid after five years. Absolutely criminal!!

I don't understand why there are two identical exams to get a CSCS laborer card, apart from the fact that you pay twice?! HSE and HSA are almost the same exams for which you pay twice. apart from the fact that you have to pay at least £99 for h&sa for a course with one exam, then you have to pass another same exam for £21. maybe a few questions are different, but they are basically the same. the only description is a money making machine.

Totally pointless piece of plastic. Just a scam to fleece you out of more of your money, but unfortunately you’ve got to have this piece of crappy plastic if you want to work on building sites. You have your qualifications, you know the risks of your job, otherwise you won’t be doing you job for very long. Accidents happen, that’s why they are called accidents, a crappy piece of plastic will not make you exempt from them, but it will make the main contractor exempt from any responsibility, if you don’t have one.

The cscs system is crooked as hell i have the nvq and i sat the citb passed all the info to cscs 20 days later and still in document review the job i was offerd has now went to someone else and i am seriously thinking about getting a lawyer over this carry on even when i phoned them they said there is no time limit on getting my card,They have monopalised this system for something that isnt even legal its time they were taken to court as this just reeks of fraud

This scam has got to stop.
The CSCS scheme and the main contractors who support it are fleecing people of money.
The goal posts keep changing, which makes it harder and more expensive to access a site.
If this is so important to have, on top of lengthy site inductions then the main contractors should pay for the scheme. That would put a stop to it.
The qualifications required for the different grades of card are ridiculous. If a person is employed to do a job, then they have more than likely sat an interview, sent a CV and been offered the job from their qualifications. They must be qualified to do their job.
1 card for all is the answer.
Where did the new scam come from. You have completed the health and safety exam and now you have to do the PLUS exam for £99 🤬

Awful. Needlessly confusing. Information on help pages contradicts itself. Help lines - when you get through to them - send you in a circle from number to number because nobody seems to know how to solve a single query. Difficult to understand and website is impossible to follow. Seriously this is appalling. The amount of money they suck out of you to then have you faffing about for six months taking tests that aren’t relevant to your qual. So frustrated with this.

Why can the holders of CSCS cards not do the job. There are some terrible tradesmen out there and the all have a CSCS card...

Honestly the first thing some say "I have a card" and then they do a job, or not, and just prove they are 100% totally useless.

And as for safety...don't ever think a pub safety quiz will keep anyone safe onsite, as that will never happen.

The scheme is a pointless scam...and I am an employer!!

Really could do with making the questions relevant to specific industry the card is for, the management and professional card covers everything in construction, most not relevant to me as a house builder.

Down loaded the revision app to refresh myself, contacted the number on it and they commented the know its too broad.

Basically we have had your money, go away!

Just recently got back from my CSCS basic test and obviously NOT PASSED with the score of 86% for the questions i had no problem to answer. Closed my test within 15 minutes time left over.
This is a second time in row they failed me and i even change the branch to become assured of it, before i wrote it here.

I must admit that i have managing experience responsibilities with 25 people under myself and can not enter my workplace now because of THIS SCAM. I know my duties and i study new book which i ordered to be sure how question going to be expressed. IF ANYONE OFER A PETITION or any other tool to REMOVE THESE SCAMERS out of business i am willing to join and put all my effort into it. I will not let this like that now!

PS: They will not show you what your "made mistakes" ARE, even if you ask them straight after a test. They'll play a roles, develop and drop that guilt on system or computer or anything else apart from those you can access and you're simply going to be CUT OFF of your personal test view!!

Please anyone tell me this is not a criminal?!!! It is obvious financial FRAUD in the public area which is subject for criminal liability under commerce law.

Disgusting company will take your money not inform what you need to get the card then when u ask for a refund they want half it because they have it in the terms and conditions honestly I hope everyone that works at this company never get a job outside of this company again

I booked a day course to do the L1 One Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment so i could apply for my labourers green card, i was told after completion i could apply for it that was a day course at £90 , i started to apply to be told i need to do the citb health, safety and environment test at another cost of £23 , i did this at a pearson test center and assumed that was it i could apply for the green card but hey no , i have to wait for a copy of the certificate for the first course to arrive which takes a minimum of 10 days , wouldnt it be amazing if candidates were told everything from the start and maybe just maybe one body conduct the whole course/application from start to finish , oh then you have to pay £36 to apply for the green card i think this is a money making scam what an absolute joke

It sad that you pay for something and it's not working properly I've lost 2 days at work because there system didn't renew my card properly so I'm out £500 and they don't do compensation but they take money off you for a piece of plastic that's pointless and the price to get labour on a course and test is bull it should be free to do as they all in each other pockets get sites from back handers or favours it corruption at it worst as you need a card to work on big site where they can bully you to do the job in unsafe conditions with there own health and safety orditors it's about time they got spot checks instead of and appointment where they know the time and day they coming so they clean up day before to pass with flying colours fix the system not the people

On their first test when I first did mine it was 50 quid. Now it’s £300 for a new labourer to do a Cscs card as they have to do a days test aswell.
Apparently it’s the equivalent on a new level 1 I could believe what I was hearing.
So the poorest people in the industry have to pay the most absolutely makes me sick to death and shows what is wrong with this country greeeed.

This is a shame, a con and utterly unbelievable bunch of #@!!. They should be closed down along with the main contractors that support them. Surely it is illegal for them to do what they do, just like the American teamsters, join or club and get fleeced or no work on our sites. CSCS cards are not a legal requirement. Everyone should boycott sites enforcing this scam

Impossible to use the website nothing click on works ridiculously slow so ******angry

Yet again trying to recieve a CSCS card on behalf of a subcontractor . Passed his test 18 months ago and paid for an apprentice card but never received it despite money leaving account. Disputed however couldnt get anywhere so passed to myself ( company administrator ) to try and sort . Web chat got me nowhere . Couldn't find his details even though he has a pass certificate and money left account. Told to raise on Portal which i have . States 2 day response time however heard nothing 11 days ( and 18 months ) later .

Surely these charlatans will be closed down in 2024.
Don't let them rob you.
