As a 60 year old Engineering graduate i found myself needing to aquire a CSCS card to visit and maybe work on some equipment on site. The whole process to get a card was tedious and my request for clarity were met with bullet points of policy documents which didnt answer my questions or concerns. Instead it turned out that i needed to use a partner site (who were very helpful and sorted my concerns and application on the phone) make sure you need CSCS before you part with your money as Admin feed will be charged for any cancellations. Contact your relevant trade bodies who may be able to clarify which card you need and the most speedy/cheapest way to obtain it.

They are total scam armature at anything.

Pay to take tests pass it with 100% fail but then fail because internet not strong enough??

£60 To resit. They said free but would not fix link that wanted to take me to pay page.

We are a subcontracting lift company. It seems to be impossible to get a subcontractor passed on the cscs system. What kind if inside job is this?

Edit, 19/06/24: CSCS through CITB not bad. Our workers revised with CITB books, available on their site. Office based in Northern Ireland, I think. They were helpful, as the CITB website is quite confusing I did need some help.

I think the problem is there are fraudsters on the market, such as Construction Helpline (appears on bank statement as Construction Help), who (1) book through CITB themselves and charge the applicant a surcharge for this - £68 total; (2) if the applicant passes the CITB test, they extend the testing process with a 4 hour online video that the applicant must watch all of, then the applicant needs to sit an online exam, which requires 80% correct answers to pass - another £238; (3) if the applicant fails this extra test, they must to sit another test - another £52.

Go through CITB website. Construction Helpline is fraudulent.

Six reviews since mine, seems to be getting worse ( if that's possible) the government need to take action now before these thieving clowns close down building trade .

First citb test app is £6.99
First test of 50 questions £22.50
Second test for qualification 30 questions £45
Touch screen test 50 questions £45. For what as they are asking similar questions just to scam people without the government saying anything in this regard. You are not learning anything from citb test for construction. After all the tests then the cscs card is £65
Everything is just theory no practice. A pour scam. During all these tests you fails, you pay again.

sitting a pathetic test with stupid questions. I.E mental health and environmental questions. As if a site manager gives a damn about a mental state, all they are interested in you getting the job done, ERR CSCS get in the real world... And dont get me started on getting the card processed, thats another hoop you have to jump through. Its time ALL the major house builders get rid of these clowns and go back to how it was before, these eejits are not needed all they do is rake money in and give the tradesmen a massive headache. Please builders ditch these eejits

Bunch of unprofessional, incompetent fools. Cant get the basic information right, after countless calls and messages over weeks. As a construction manager I would be down the road if my standard of work was like these clowns. Feel sorry for those guys who need the card for work. Mine is my choice and after years of holding it, luckily I can now continue without it, you now lost me cscs, good job too, or I would be out of work. They should be closed down as an organisation, perhaps we the industry should start a campaign !!!

Total rip off. Complete money spinner which has created an industry off an industry. I’ve been a curtain wall glazer for 25 years and have got a level three gold card. I’m just renewing my card and now have to do a compulsory one day course in curtain walling which costs £300. It honestly makes me want to leave the trade, but they have you by the balls. Where does this money go? It’s disgusting.

Tried paying for my cscs card and my bank contacted me to say to notify me that it is possibly a scam site (I thought cscs.uk.com was government backed) ,just about sums them up the scheisters .

I’m writing this on behalf of my partner .Applied for a new cscs card 24/06/23 still no card and still no work so still no income !!!!several phone calls saying yes it’s will be 7 days …. Then 10 days … still no card ! This company is totally incompetent they are stealing money from genuine workers .Surely there is someone reading this that can help !! Are we all expected to use the already drained benefits system !!!

This company should be illegal. Rip off genuine construction industry professionals and a complete waste of time. Unable to get any response for a sat and passed test. Been back and forth for several weeks. This company should be scrapped. Don't know anyone who has 1 good thing to say about this lot.

Card been cancelled without any help to try help . Been 3 weeks then enquiry made and still no one interested to help really bad service and shouldn't be National provider of scheme.

I am 58 years old . Never worked in any other industry.I have an advanced craft city and guilds an indentured apprenticeship and now they want me to do an nvq... How dare they right off my life's work !!!

So my work offer as now expired, going to put efforts into living on benefits now.
Emailing the scheme/scam is impossible, trust pilot pilot is one of the few of bringing these people to people like me who simply want to go to work.
Cscs scheme are you happy with the misery and money you cost/cause ordinary people that simply want to go to work?
Are you happy with the damage you are causing to the building industry and UK economy ?
Are you happy to run a scam scheme full of lies deliberate deceit?
You are thieving disgusting vile people.

Skilled tradespeople unable to go to work because of this ridiculous scheme is a joke. It's just another way for the government to make money out of people trying to make a living and the whole thing needs banning. I hope the whole industry collapses due to a lack of decent skilled people that will eventually just work on domestic projects!

To give some constructive feedback.

1.The website is full of glitches.
2. Ordering a replacement card has taken 2 months
3. This leads to lost earnings to people
4. Booking a test and completing these is simple enough and the process of booking is good.
5. During the application for a replacement card it took MANY attempts as the website would kick me out at what seems to be any point.
6. Having had a card before and then asking for a renewed one why are we asked to provide all our qualifications again.
7. Why is a card £36? I already have a card and its online so why not just set back to 'live'.

Applied for renewal received email saying it's on it way a month later they tell me there's a technical issue needs to be escalated.

I applied for a new cscs card , after 6 months still not received.
Ask for refund and I got another 6 months since I wait for refund.
I keep send them emails but no answers.

Pointless card. Not a legal requirement to own one.

Money making scheme, thats all.

Employers should not require them!!!

I passed my cscs test over 12 months ago now. I paid for my card over the phone but never received it. Several phone calls and emails later still no card. Most recent call said to email the construction help line for a refund as they don't give refunds over the phone, needles to say I've not herd back yet and don't think I will. Worst service ever. All that studying for what ? I see a lot of these comments are very similar. It's very bad.
