DHL Express Romania Reviews 

I am currently experiencing almost the exact same situation described by other Romanian customers regarding DHL and IOSS.
I purchased an item on eBay from outside the EU. eBay correctly collected the Romanian VAT at checkout under the IOSS scheme.
The eBay Tax Invoice clearly shows:
- Item value: AUD 67.25
- Shipping: AUD 55.00
- Taxable amount: AUD 122.25
- Romanian VAT 21%: AUD 25.68
- Total paid to eBay: AUD 147.93
- IOSS number: IM2760000742
I also provided DHL Romania with my ING bank statement, which clearly shows that I paid AUD 147.93 to eBay, not just the item price.
Despite all this documentation, DHL Romania keeps insisting that VAT was not paid because the seller, T.I. Performance, told them that they did not collect VAT.
That completely misses the point of IOSS.
The seller did not collect the VAT. eBay did, automatically, at checkout. This is clearly stated on the eBay Tax Invoice, which is literally titled “Tax Invoice” and includes the VAT breakdown and IOSS number.
I have sent the documents multiple times, explained the calculation repeatedly, and even pointed DHL to their own website explaining how IOSS works. Yet I am still being told that my options are either to pay VAT again or have the parcel returned.
I have now opened an official complaint and requested escalation to a supervisor/customs specialist familiar with IOSS.
What makes this even more frustrating is that this does not appear to be an isolated case. I found another Romanian DHL customer describing almost the same problem, where DHL later admitted the customs declaration had been processed incorrectly and had to redo it.
This should not be happening. Customers should not be forced to pay the same VAT twice simply because the IOSS information was ignored or not properly processed.

My experience with DHL Romania was extremely frustrating and disappointing.

My international parcel arrived in Romania and was held by DHL for approximately two weeks. During this time, I was repeatedly asked to provide different information and complete various forms. The process was confusing, time-consuming, and the communication was not clear or customer-friendly.

Instead of receiving straightforward information about what was required and how to resolve the issue, I had to go through multiple steps just to get my own package released. After waiting for approximately two weeks, I was also charged around CAD $150 before I could finally receive my parcel.

The entire experience was stressful and extremely expensive. Customers sending international parcels should be given clear explanations, transparent charges, and proper assistance when a shipment is held.

I found the customer service and communication from DHL Romania to be extremely disappointing. I believe this kind of handling of international shipments deserves attention from the appropriate consumer-protection and regulatory authorities.

I hope DHL Romania reviews its procedures for international parcels and improves its communication and customer service. Customers should not have to spend weeks dealing with unclear requirements and unexpected charges simply to receive their own package.

Very disappointing experience with DHL Romania. I would not recommend the service based on my experience.

Experiență foarte proastă cu DHL Express România. Pachetele mele sunt blocate de 12 zile, iar în tot acest timp am sunat la Customer Service aproape zilnic, fără să primesc un răspuns clar. Mi s-a spus chiar că „degeaba pun întrebări”, pentru că nici ei nu știu să-mi spună ce se întâmplă. Lipsă totală de comunicare și transparență. Nu recomand.

Am primit explicații clare și suport prompt pe tot parcursul procesului de vămuire, ceea ce a făcut întregul proces simplu și lipsit de incertitudini.

I sent a GLASS lamp via DHL, from Bucharest to Warsaw, very well packed with bubble wrap, thick protective foam on all sides and on top, the lamp fixed, it could not move in the box. The outer box was thick, like those for moving. The couriers from DHL managed to break the lamp, they probably INTENTIONALLY slammed the package. There was tape with "fragile" on the package plus messages in English and Polish warning that there was a fragile object in the box. Miserable service, staff who make fun of customers. It doesn't even deserve one star.

Experiență foarte neplăcută cu DHL Express România din cauza unei taxe de magazinaj aplicate pe nedrept. Coletul meu a fost reținut în depozit, iar DHL mi-a perceput o taxă de magazinaj de 1800 lei, deși întârzierea livrării nu mi s-a datorat mie, ci [motiv: proceselor interne de vămuire / lipsei unei notificări corecte / etc.]. Nu am fost informat clar și la timp despre necesitatea ridicării coletului sau despre riscul acumulării acestei taxe, iar atunci când am contactat serviciul clienți, mi s-a răspuns evaziv, fără nici un rezultat, motivand ca taxa de magazinaj a fost calculata corect. Consider că este o practică incorectă față de clienți, care sunt penalizați pentru întârzieri sau blocaje pe care nu le pot controla. Recomand oricui lucrează cu DHL să verifice cu atenție politica de magazinaj înainte de a expedia sau primi colete, pentru a evita taxe suplimentare nejustificate.

Servicii de cea mai proasta calitate. Am un colet care sta blocat la DHL in Germania de pe data de 10 iulie. Are trei saptamani de cand sta la ei. Nu poti trimite mail, la telefon raspunde un Ai care nu face nimic. Nu am reusit sa iau legatura cu ei. Voi evita sa mai lucrez cu ei.

Just terrible, didnt come, no support, never again.

Huge prices for nothing !

In Romania, they have huge prices, if you want to send something in..........Romania.Despite the fact they are working with a local career: Cargus. Almost the same with the prices for EU sendings. And the attitude of their employees, is not profesional ! They go beyond their duties and have a superior attitude, which is only justified by a minimal lack of education. They don't understand that the client pay their salary ! They beleive that the client is all the time at their disposal ! They are so full of themselves ! And they are treating you like an homeless, until they have no some advantages !
Shame on you DHL Romania !
Until you will have a professional attitude, I will avoid your services. Too much money to be humiliated by your officials !!! Shame on you !

I was supposed to receive a parcel from England in Romania, but it ended up in China. I don’t recommend it ! And… i have to pay taxes…

They don't deserve any stars, not even 1, but the app requires it. Poor customer service, no support, computer generated messages, no follow up on emails, no knowledge of international time zones and respect for one's time, they do not go the extra mile. How are they in business? Happy to provide all the details if anyone from this lousy organization even cares to follow up on these reviews. A waste of time and money.

Nu pot spune decât că a fost un coșmar pentru a primi un mic colet din Italia! Am plătit online suma cerută, dar când coletul a ajuns în România, s-a depistat adresa incorecta, trecută de către DHL pe colet și a fost refuzată livrarea acestuia la adresă ! Cu toate eforturile de transmietere a adresei destinatarului(eu), s-a amânat la infinit livrarea, fiind necesar deplasarea mea în sediul din Ștefăneștii de Jos, pentru ridicarea coletului! De ce am plătit pentru livrarea la domiciliu?

La peor empresa de conserjería que he visto. Me enviaron una tarjeta bancaria que tenía que llegar el pasado viernes y hoy lunes todavía no ha llegado. Es una vergüenza que pague uno mensajería urgente y te engañen como ellos quieren. No volveré ni a enviar ni recomendar esta empresa por el servicio pésimo que prestan.

Nu degeaba sunt parerile acestea, si eu am platit taxe vamale duble fata de cat trebuia ei s-au incarcat cu inca 50% prin extra taxe si magazinaj in zile de sarbatoare au calculat ca a stat pre amult pachetul la ei as ain loc de 23% taxe vamale am ajuns la 50%

O adunătură de incompetenți. Îți țin coletul în magazie cu zilele până sunt în stare să mute 1 declarație vamală care se generează în 5 min până la biroul vămii. Dacă un colet face 2 zile din HK ei au nevoie de 4 pt declarația vamală.

I wish I checked their reputation online before I decided to use their services. Disappointing. And when I say this it’s not only for DHL romania, it is for DHL Germany too and overall . Ridiculously expensive and they don’t deliver on time. Late in processing, they don’t provide real updates and they are not responsible.

I was thinking that I will be one of the few with bad review for DHL Romania, since they are DHL!!!! But surprise, here are mostly bad reviews.
And this is mine:
- nobody communicates, custom agents don t read customer requests and don t communicate with customers (they block the email address at some point!), delivery agents don t communicate with their warehouse, customer agents don t communicate with delivery dept
- absurd taxes, 14 euro + vat to make a payment with no other option
- they are stealing small amounts from their customers by increasing custom value with transport cost, which is already in the product cost, without telling them how to prepare the right documents to prevent this
- they are asking about transport cost , while they receive that amount and they also know who paid the transport
- a general attitude that customer should be honoured that they had a shipment with dhl.
- yes it should be written with small laters, like a Temu dhl
Hello Germany, can you do some cleaning here? These guys don t respect their customers!

Unfortunately, their staff is mostly unqualified, making every delivery a challenge and a matter of luck. Some ordered parcels were never delivered.

Avoid using DHL whenever possible, in Romania and anywhere else. Not only do they often fail to deliver the packages, but they also falsely claim they contacted you or that you weren’t home when no attempt was actually made. Extremely unprofessional and frustrating service.
