We just returned from the Fall Colors, Scenic Trains & Martha's Vineyard trip. October 1-10.
Although the fall foliage was spectacular, the trip was not as good as we expected. We went on the Colorado Rail adventure last August and it was awesome.
This trip did not give us enough time in Boston. Most of our stops were extremely crowded and we did not have enough time to eat and shop in Freeport. The lobster dinner in Orgunquit was awful. Not sure WHY we went to New Hampshire State Capitol. Salem Cross Inn dinner was historic but crowded and becaming boring. The lunch at the Publick House Inn was delicious and it was the only really good meal included in this trip. The Mystic seaport museum was boring and too similar to the Sturbridge Village visit the day before. We didnt get to see the towns enough.
The lack of lanyards caused us to not get to know fellow travelers's names. And the musical chairs assigned seating on the bus was ridiculous. Our guide was NOT flexible at all and followed the itinerary exactly even though places were very crowded.

As usual, no fuss with GRJ. Easy to navigate through phone options, then answered promptly by cheerful, helpful and polite lady who explained everything fully. She then went through it all again, to ensure I understood everything, took my deposit and advised when balance would be taken. Full welcome pack despatched by Email shortly afterwards, so no problems. Why can't other firms answer the phone promptly - GRJ have done this for years.

Booked my holiday with ease online. The booking was quickly followed up with a welcome pack by email with all details and introductions. My email request for pre and post holiday accommodation close to St Pancras was responded to quickly.

I thought everything was presented clearly. My questions about details of the ship, access issues, special offers, location of cabins were clearly answered in a friendly helpful manner. It was an encouraging introduction to the trip on offer.

We have done 4 tours now, including a UK around the Western Isles, and have been pleased with the tour and manager each time. For us travelling by train is comfortable, and helps us with our carbon footprint. And we love the interaction with fellow travellers as we share holiday experiences together. We did not hesitate in booking our 5th tour in June 2027.

The representative that helped me to book my vacation trip was very helpful and knowledgeable. Ms. Renija was very attentive on what I needed to make my vacation a remarkable one.

Booking the holiday was easy. Unfortunately we are unable to print out the holiday information as it appears in very small print. This also happened when we booked our river cruise in August. This does not happen on any other information we are sent by other organisations.

Easy to book. Clear and concise description of the holiday

Website and booking process is quite straightforward and easy to navigate.

Helpful sales staff answered our questions prior to booking and offered to hold two places for us for 48 hours, so no pressurised sales techniques. Two days later we contacted them again to book on the phone. (So much easier than doing it on-line.)

We have just booked our 2nd holiday with GRJ as we enjoyed our previous holiday with them so much as it was organised so well from start to finish.
This booking was easy to make (as last time) with a very helpful lady on the telephone and we have no doubt that we are in safe hands.
