Avoid this company like the plague.

We booked a holiday to Prague with this company and paid a deposit. We unfortunately had to cancel the holiday and knew we would forfeit the deposit so we emailed the company to cancel the holiday but then the company rang us to say we would have have to pay the full balance before it could be cancelled. We obviously refused as what company asks you to pay a balance on a cancelled holiday? We thought that was the end of the matter but next day it turns out that they have taken the balance out of our bank account (as we had to give them bank details for booking it in the first place) without any authorisation from us. We booked this holiday .in October so the balance wasn’t due till December as we were going this month. We have tried several times get the unauthorised balance money back to no avail. The matter is now in the hands of our bank.I would avoid this holiday company like the plague. I wonder how many customers they have done this to and are sitting pretty on the money that they should never have taken in the first place. If you can just don’t book anything through this company. Appalling doesn’t even cover it. I’ve had to put a date in below but I’m not sure of the 6th!

We booked a 7 night Nile Cruise and 7 nights in a Hotel with HolidayJet. The communication was a bit last minute and the price was very low which did have us a bit concerned, but it all turned out to be a great holiday! Eagle Travel provided an excellent service in regards to our trips and both guides Abdul and Ahmed were exceptional with their knowledge. Our Hotel stay at the Titanic Palace was also great but it would be nice to see more from the UK.

Customer service

Someone at the end of phone actually doing their job well and doing everything I wanted done previous 2 people i tried to speak to just hung up on me didn't even try to call me back if they don't want to help customer why are they even in this job? But thankfully Jason Roy helped me for which I am grateful for

I went on holiday to E Egypt for a hotel and crews with my friend Carole for two weeks paid £3.000 for it they changed our hotel three times and the boat once well the hotel was like Beirut and the boat should have been blown up so old please please don't believe jet holiday they lie to yo to get money out of you they was on TV the other day trading standards are looking in to them we are taken them to court I could not eat there food so I loved on cakes it made me really ill so do not book a holiday with these people

Probably the worst holiday company I have ever dealt with-avoid at all costs!!!

Would leave negative stars if this was an option.

In over 50 years of travelling for work and taking holidays worldwide this is undoubtedly my worst experience ever, from the immediate post booking stage to the moment we landed in Egypt, to a full week after we returned sick to the UK caused by the food on board (not just us but 20+ other passengers as well).

One important fact HJ rely on repeatedly is their need to contact their "suppliers" whilst they "investigate" the problems you have reported, which is basically an excuse to string things along and hope you will give up. 

When I pointed out to HJ that their suppliers were their own choice, and regardless of this fact our contract was between us and them in UK law, they had nothing to say... 
 
The main problems we encountered were as follows (this list is by no means exhaustive). NB: our original letter, with numerous photos and some 20 pages long, seems to have been totally ignored by Holiday jet.

1) not issuing our documents in time prior to departure until the absolute last minute causing a huge amount of unnecessary stress, 

2)Informing us two days before departure that our Hotel and Boat had been changed and giving no opportunity to cancel, when stating we were unhappy with the changes, we were offered another hotel and given 5 mins to decide whether to accept or not!!

3) On arrival in Egypt we were told our dates to board had been changed, (one of the reasons we booked this trip was to have longer in the hotel after the cruise) 

4) the hotel was not at all what we had booked, and the cruise ship was downgraded 3 times, and looked like a cross channel ferry which had been dragged out of retirement. It was filthy and disgusting.

5) being lied to IN WRITING about having a room with a balcony and Nile view, except that we got no balcony and a window overlooking deck gear and crew washing, obstructing what little view we could have had. 

6) grossly substandard food, worse than school meals, which eventually made us and about to 20 other people extremely ill. In our case for a week after our return. 

7)My wife had to visit a Dr at the hotel after the cruise and was put on antibiotics for a severe bacterial infection and was unable to eat and drink anything for the remainder of the holiday!!

8) 9 sun loungers on deck for some 200 people. 

9) the hot tub had 3" of water in it, was filthy, with broken tiles and not working 

The staff at Holiday jet who incidentally also fly the Galaxy Holidays flag amongst others, could not care less once they have taken your money, but they make sure they ask you for a review immediately after booking! hence the 5 star reviews, read the one star reviews for an accurate representation of what you will get

When we (and any other passengers who were on the same boat as us) complained we were told that: 

- "we were given complimentary SIM cards". 
This was because the on board WiFi did not work

- "an offer to transfer to another ship" 
Two days before the end of our 7 day cruise, and on condition we all went and also signed a waiver, the wording of which we never saw. we did not book in a group!

-"complimentary excursions" 
This was a bribe intended to stop us complaining on condition we signed an unseen waiver. 
We had already paid for these trips as an extra anyway.

- "we were offered the best cabins on board"
Is that why we changed cabins five times, and still ended up in one with dripping aircon condensate, diesel exhaust fumes, broken fittings, shoddy decorating, a blocked shower etc.
... and a view of the crews washing every morning!

-"bottled water delivered to our cabin"
Which didn't materialise half the time, and had to be asked for repeatedly at reception. 

And many more! I have retained several hundred photos and many videos of our trip with Holiday Jet. I will spare you the video of the toilets on board... 

HJ seem to think that they will continue to get away with this shameful, deceitful and fraudulent behaviour. 

If you look at other reviews for HJ, you will see that many of them raise similar points. 

I will post a link to the videos here when I have finished editing them, and they are available. 

My recommendation? Avoid at all costs.

1)You have repeated you are "sincerely sorry" many times, but done nothing about it, so your apologies are worthless.
2) You are already "investigating" our case apparently, although you seem to be blaming your "suppliers" a bit too much.
3)Free wifi is available in virtually every hotel and cruise ship worldwide.
4) There were other opportunities to transfer us earlier, you chose not to do so.
5)No we were NOT happy with the majority of components
6) You have failed to resolve any of the complaints satisfactorily for us and the other 2 dozen passengers so far, please don't lie to us, it's rather offensive to treat us like simpletons.

Unfortunately, your review does not mention your booking reference number or the lead passenger name, which makes it impossible for us to identify your file. Could you please provide these details so we can investigate your specific booking and respond accurately?

We would also like to clarify several points mentioned in your review:

• SIM cards and onboard Wi-Fi – These services are not included as standard on Nile cruise ships with any operator. Complimentary SIM cards were provided because the onboard Wi-Fi was not functioning correctly, which was arranged locally in Egypt as a gesture of goodwill.

• Cruise board basis – All Nile cruises operate on a full board basis. All-inclusive drinks packages are optional extras and this is clearly explained before booking. This is standard practice across all cruise operators.

• Vessel changes – Cruise ships operate on fixed itineraries along the Nile. It is not possible to change vessels while sailing mid-river. Transfers to alternative ships can only be arranged when the vessel reaches the next port, which is why any offer of change can only be made later in the itinerary.

• Excursions – Abu Simbel and several other excursions are optional extras in Aswan and are chargeable with all operators. In some cases these were offered complimentary as a goodwill gesture to affected passengers, even though they were not part of the original package.

• Hotels – We use well-established beachfront and resort hotels and normally receive very positive feedback. We are sorry that on this occasion the accommodation did not meet your expectations.

We fully understand that you were disappointed with parts of your trip, and we never dismiss customer concerns. However, it is also important to note that the holiday you booked included international flights, transfers, hotel accommodation and a full Nile cruise, all of which were provided and used and happy with majority of components. In previous cases where genuine issues have occurred, we have offered reasonable compensation after full investigation with our suppliers. Requests for full refunds after completion of travel are unfortunately not appropriate.

Holiday Jet arranges travel for thousands of customers every year, and the vast majority return home satisfied and happy with their experience and rebooking holidays with us. Like any travel company, occasional problems can occur, particularly when dealing with overseas suppliers, but we always aim to resolve matters fairly and professionally.

We certainly do not engage in fraudulent or deceitful practices, and we strongly reject that suggestion. We value every customer and always try to reach amicable solutions whenever difficulties arise.
