I would give Mercari no stars if I could. They have horrible business practices. My nightmare began on 10-24-25 when my grandson gave me $65 to order a tracksuit for him with my credit card. According to the tracking, the package was shipped from New Jersey on 10-27 and delivered to my state of Delaware the next day, the 28th. The tracker said that the package was delivered to a zip code, which was not mine. There was no address, or P.O. box, just a zip code. The day the package was "delivered" on 10-28, Mercari rated the seller and released the funds to him. This goes against their policy that the buyer has 3 days after receiving the package to inspect and rate the seller. When I contacted them on 10-29 to report I had not received the package, they gave me the company line which is; to late, we released the funds, we can't help you. Their written Since they were so rude and unwilling to give me a refund, I filed a complaint with the BBB. In response Mercari "reopened" the inquiry. The saga continues because for the last month, their "escalation manager" has been looking into it. They keep giving me one excuse after the other trying their best to frustrate me. They practically accuse the buyer of stealing or scamming them. Beware prospective buyers or sellers of Mercari. There are other on-line company's who will make things right when there is a problem. Mercari seems to take pleasure in being rude and accusatory. They will do all that they can to frustrate you to make you give up, but I am not giving up. I do not have $75 to through away. I want a refund.

Iv’e was a seller with the company since 2018. A package was lost and they did not reimburse me when I paid for a prepaid label. They do not care about their sellers when an issue happens. I have an open case with a similar situation, but this time I was the buyer and a package was lost and they still haven’t paid me back. Ebay Poshmark.Debop and other companies that I sell through take care of the situation if something happens to the seller or the buyer, I would not recommend selling on this platform.

Never received my item. Mercari refused to give me a refund until I threatened to take legal action. Now they refuse to delete my account. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!

Bought an electronic item marked as Like New. Got it and it did not work at all like new. I started the return process and they want a million photos of the item, one of the serial number, which is not there, and I have no packaging or paperwork. NOW, my account has been frozen with no reason given. I'm not getting any response from mercari. WTF. My $400 is just hanging out there. This is my first time on mercari and it will be my last. Maybe it's good for selling but BUYERS BEWARE.

I have sold well over a thousand items on mercari and took a LONG break after a buyer left me a one star for not removing the shipping tape from an item she purchased from me.
I contacted Mercari who gave me a corporately response about it being the buyers opinion.
I recently started back on Mercari to sell a couple of things one of which is a designer bag. It is clearly authentic, I have the tags, and receipt. Within an hour it was removed for being "prohibited".When I tried to reply to the email, it went to an email that doesn't accept emails. I then tried to contact their support but it didn't offer any options for resolution. There is the same bag selling from another seller almost identical to the listing I posted and she's asking over $200 more per bag. It's really frustrating since I've sold over a thousand items on there. They don't care about loyalty.

Mercari “support” is the worst I have ever seen from any company. A buyer canceled an item after it had been shipped. I don’t know why this is allowed. They gave me the run around for days, did not help me nor give me the required information I needed to intercept the package. Buyer got the item and I got no money. They literally helped a buyer scam me. Seller protection does not exist here. Do NOT sell here. Their fees are the same as ebay with even less seller support.

I bought an item that came in pieces when it arrived. I contacted them the day I received the item. I did not hear back and it was a holiday weekend so I sent them another email a few days later. They told me they had no record of my 1st communication and it was too late to get my money back. I had pictures in my phone timestamped the day I sent the email to them, but because they had a glitch and my 1st email did not go through supposedly, 6 people later including a supervisor they denied giving me my money back. I have bought over 75 items with no complaints, and the 1 item that had issue's with they pretty much said too bad! If you ever have issues make sure you screen shot all of you communications in case they happen to have a "glitch" in their system and your information does not go through. You have to have the proof that you sent it or otherwise they say screw you, would you like a %10 coupon for you next purchase?. Their customer service sucks and their app sucks too!

I recently bought an item from mercari and I waited for it to arrive and it never did. It says it was delivered so I contacted the post office and they checked and said it could’ve possibly be put into the wrong mail box and that I needed to contact the company because they have insurance for when stuff like this happens, so I contacted Mercari. Not only did they pretty much call me stupid, they told me I was screwed. That I should file a police report over a ten dollar belt and when I talked to a sheriff he laughed at me. The police have better things to do then clean up messes that should’ve already been dealt with by the corporation that provides the service, is what he said. I tend t agree with the man. I have had items that never came from Amazon Poshmark and even Wish and they all offer a refund or send another item, being told to get over it has never happened before. Mercari is a manipulative and misleading company and have incompetent customer service agents that belittle you by sending the same email every time I replied to complaint. They literally responded with he same exact email 5 times. And now they are refusing to let me delete my account and I won’t turn off their email notifications. I hope they go under and I hope they realize why.

Number one: Everytime you print a shipping label for a customer, mercari wastes the other side of the page with packing instructions. So it cost you an extra label for every item you ship. Number two. If you print the shipping label and spill something on it or need to reprint for another reason, you CANT. You don't get the option to print it more than once. you can avoid this by choosing the ship on your own box and raise the item price to cover the free ship so you can buy the label outside. But many times I print it in house so i don't have to cut and paste and go through the extra effort. but if you do need to print the label in house again, They ask you to cancel the order. Is that stupid? There is a hack around it though. but it happens to be the third best marketplace. People go to this website to find deals so your profit margin will always be on the low side. Besides the two stupid bugs I just mentioned, I do like and use Mercari. They don't bully people like Amazon and they are more lenient then Ebay. |Number 3 stupid thing. You dont get your money from the sale until you rate your customer. Why? Why do you need to rate them? All they did was buy something. If they lowballed you, please go ahead and give them a 3. stop rating your lowballing custoemrs with a five star. Rating your buyer should not be a prerequisite for receiving your funds that Mercari likes to refer as your paycheck. You are not my boss Mercari, you do not pay me nor do I like you using the term "Paid" You are not paying me. you are simply handling my incoming payment transaction. so please stop telling me I am getting "paid" You can tell me I will be receving my customers payment if you wish. But congratulations Mercari, you have taken in many poshmark users. You are better than PM. Good job.

Mistreating disabled people. Arrogant support.

This company sends you emails about selling stuff but if the items don't meet the buyers perfect criteria they return the items. the sellers have a saso about the items in question but the company dont give a damn. There's no use to try to sell used stuff because in mercaris eyes the item has to be perfect even though the selleris giving the buyer a great price.

Mercari is good to sale stuff but if they think u not selling Is authentic items they cancel ur account Is there really strict ..... I as a retailer sale men this company really suxs if u think because u made them so much money they gonna think Twice to delete your account they don't care ... so fine some where else to sale I wouldn't recommend mercari to now one ...

Made an offer on a jean jacket for $30, seller accepted it. 3 days later, seller canceled the order and I guess because it was before the holidays they wanted more. Relisted the jacket for $80 and Mercari customer service had no problem with it. I have been burned as a seller and buyer on this app. Lost more as a seller so I am done! Trying to see what consumer watchdog I can report them to. The customer service is a joke. As a seller I have even paid for the forced authentication service when I already had the documents. Delete the app and save yourself a headache.

When people say that Mercari is awful for sellers, please believe them. At some point, you will have to deal with an unruly buyer. Trust me, it will happen. It just happened to me. The buyer bought an item from me and didn’t pay attention to my description at all. I sold jewelry. The buyer was expecting an item made of all silver. That is not what I advertised. I made it clear that I was not selling silver. After the item arrived this buyer then requests a return. Imagine my shock. After telling Mercari what happened and how this person carelessly bought my item, Mercari didn’t care and sided with the buyer! The person was not astute enough to pay attention to what they were buying, and Mercari rewarded their behavior, so they’re free to waste the time and energy of the next seller. Mercari doesn’t look out for sellers at all. I told them this person bought something from me expecting something else. If they had questions, they should have asked. Did that person ask the right questions? No. The only thing they asked me about was sizing. The return was a ruse because the item that was purchased from me didn’t fit and the buyer claimed damage in transit and inaccurate description. Riiiiiight. I told this buyer that the item they wanted would probably not fit and what did the person do? They bought my item anyway. I shouldn’t have sold anything to that person. After you’ve been on the app for long enough, you can just tell when someone is going to be trouble. This person gets to send my stuff back to me in any ole condition and I just have to deal with it. That’s why I am pissed. I have no idea what this person did to my stuff. Nice. I’m so irritated I will probably close my account after this. They've raised their shipping costs, they’ve raised how much they make off your sales, people haggle to death on this app and they do not side with sellers when buyers are negligent. Seriously. The buyer will always be right when they start complaining. Garbage app. Throw the whole company away. If people do not pay attention to what they’re buying, how is that the seller’s problem?

Word to the wise——RE/ Mercari
Any serious problems like money issues should be immediately reported to your state attorney general. File a formal complaint. I always used this method when I was in business and believe it…Mercari will take heed. Better Business does nothing except post complaints.
If you are not in the same state as they are, go on line and file the report anyway. Money issues are a very serious problem and the Attorney general can pull their licensing in a heart beat.

Dealing with Mercari is more like dealing with a jealous ex than a selling platform. Given a bad rating because FedEx took forever and nothing will be done. I sold on this platform for several years, 5 star rating, and was banned for mentioning Facebook twice.

I recently started selling on Mercari but after my latest experience I’m starting to have second thoughts. I received a 1 star review from a buyer because they claimed I’m selling an item for double the price. Obviously there are selling fees when selling on an online marketplace.

The buyer did not communicate with me so I wasn’t aware they had an issue with the price otherwise I could’ve just canceled the transaction and it would’ve been settled. I shipped out the item the next day and they received the item in 2 days.

I did everything to make this a smooth transaction but I still received a 1 star review. Reached out to Mercari to have them look into it and remove since I feel it’s an unfair review but Mercari does not have the option to and states it’s based on buyer’s experience. Mercari really needs to change the review system.

This is so blindsiding and I would’ve appreciated if buyers had the courtesy to just reach out if there’s a problem.

Sold a perfectly working graphics card to this moron who tests the card on some junk pc and fries it. Then claims refund for not working. I had this unit for personal use and worked great. Mercari simply ignored to hear my case and proceeded a return of item. Completely disappointed for the loss.
