Mercari is absolutely horrible
Mercari is absolutely horrible! The customer service is horrible and the “supervisors” are horrible. There is no way to get in contact to speak verbally. Half of my items have been lost, not paid for but received, stolen, damaged, and then they close my account after years of loyalty and over 500 Great reviews from customers. Will never use this website ever again! Will use Vinted & Poshmark!
Not seller friendly either
I read a lot of bad reviews from buyers, but as a seller selling on a 'selling app' I can tell you that it is indeed a selling app, but it mainly caters to buyers. I sold about a dozen items on Mercari, and i had customers who either no longer wanted an item, put in the wrong shipping address on their account, or just the item was never delivered, and each time I had no choice but to cancel the order, even when putting 'buyer no longer wants' or a similar reason, it still put a bad mark on my own account, which I got many messages about from potential customers. SO annoying! I finally gave up when a buyer received their item, said it wasnt to their standards, demanded a refund and refused to ship it back, and after emailing mercari help center about their return policy(bc what would've happened was the buyer would put a bad review on my account, making it look worse when it wasnt my fault) and all I received was an automative email about what they plan to do for Covid-19. Never wasting time on this app ever again

Mercari rules of prohibited items are based on opinion and not expertise
I normally would give Mercari a 5. It has been a happy experience. However, they have an unreasonable definition of prohibited items. I didn't try anything dire, mind you, just tried to sell collectible world currency that I have had since the 1980s. Their rule is that currency is prohibited unless it is collectible. However, collectibility is merely a baseless opinion in their world. I fear that they don't employ experts. They accepted some listings, but they rejected one and warned me without any actual explanation. I listed another and they threatened to remove me. I asked for the reason, and they simply point to their indecipherable rule and say that I cannot sell for its face or metal value. Uh, this isn't a money exchange. I would go to the bank for that. This is COLLECTIBLE world currency that I enjoyed for decades and someone else would now enjoy. Purchased from a COIN DEALER and enjoyed by countless people, purchased on one of those currency-of-the-month programs. The very same stuff that sells regularly on eBay today. eBay seems too complicated and expensive to sellers, so I chose Mercari. I asked them to reexamine their rule and make it understandable so that a person can actually list with confidence instead of listing, crossing fingers, and then getting threatened with banishment. As it stands, I cannot take the chance of ever listing currency with them again. I have great items to offer, but they have their uneducated opinions. I will continue to use Mercari and will give them a 5 in many areas, but today they should have a ZERO for abhorrent, uncaring, uneducated customer service. I was nice, though, and told him to have a great day. It isn't his fault that his overseers are so obtuse.

NEVER BUY OR Sell on Mercari. They support people scamming on their website! If you get a counterfeit card like I did they will not refund you. It was only a $13 card but i buy thousands worth of cards sometimes one card is a thousand plus. Clearly if it was a $1000 card they still would stand by the scammer. This makes them just as guilty if not worse! They give you automated responses. They do not care about their customers experiences. They are the definition of greed.Their excuse is I left feedback. Well I didn't notice it was fake until my buddy pointed it out a few days after. And if you know Mercari they rush you and pressure you to leave feedback fast! Don't support their illegal practices! I hope they go out of business!

Horrible! This app is just horrible! They close your account like if it’s nothing to them. They don’t email back when it comes to having issues with your account or anything. This is the worst app that still exists. There is no communication with the sellers or buyers everything seems so blank. You have to make sure you don’t post something they don’t like or say something to someone that they won’t like. It’s very terrible. And it’s the fact that I did not do anything wrong! I had manyyy great reviews and I was doing very good selling my clothes & my shoes until they decided to not care and tell me what I was selling was not prohibited? Like what. My shoes weren’t prohibited you say?? I was doing very well and I offered great deals for my products. This app is the WORST!! That’s why I very much enjoy Poshmark and they are great.
Both Sides of The Fence!
I am on both sides on the fence about Mercari. I have had packages stolen and cannot pinpoint when it was delivered (no signature/date/time). The 3 day posting rule is difficult with delayed deliveries. Any way to add the feature on s&h?The post office closes early due to covid. I have had 2 bad experiences with broken $$$ fishtanks and I would like Mercari to contact me please. Otherwise, Mercari has good stuff to find as a buyer. Read the rules!
Awful experience
Awful experience. These people don’t have your back. Just trying to make money on being the “middle man”. I purchased from a seller she sent the wrong item. I contacted her as it requests you to do in the steps to resolve the issue on their website. Seller said she would fix the issue by sending me the correct item but a week passes and I still have nothing. So I reference their policy page again I see it states with “The covid-19 pandemic” transactions could be delayed. So I exercise more patience contact the seller again. She says a family emergency occurred she will mail it the next day. Okay what do you say to that ... I’m not cruel so I offer my positive thoughts to her family and cross my fingers that she’s being honest. I try calling Mercari but no one answers. A week later still nothing now when I contact her she doesn’t respond. So I now I message Mercari their automated response immediately comes back to the covid-19 excuse. I respond again explaining everything and they respond with it’s past their 3-day policy. Well no duh!!! That’s what they hope for. I followed their steps contacted the seller to resolve. And then wait for the seller to fix it but obviously the 3-days for their intervention will have passed before the mail can even get to me so they immediately wash their hands of the issue. Not having my back at all and leaving you to beg for your money back or the item you purchased. 3-days that’s all. I can’t even rate or review on this seller because of the 3-day policy. I mean they allow the selling of a bunch of different things. What if it’s clothes and you want to wash it first or you have a job and as a nurse work over night and come home dog tired, but have to get up and do it all over again for the next 3 nights!!! Not to mention all this correspondence with them and seller that all takes time. Don’t bother they are just trying to get a cut of what ever you’re selling or buying. So many entitled people in the world. I work hard for my money I should at least be able to trust I won’t be getting ripped off and them as the “middle man” that’s what they want you to think. That it’s safer to buy or sell with them. They have your back, NOPE they definitely don’t!

If there was a zero I would give it to them. Every have repeatedly requested information on how to contact a vendor who provided me with defective merchandise. Like an idiot I gave the vendor five stars, before I had a chance to try out the product. Customer service said I can’t communicate with the seller after I've given them feedback. I said that’s stupid because the vendor would want to know and correct the situation instead of getting a black ball and losing a customer and everyone that customer talks to. It appears that some idiot moron or robot is writing the messages for mecari’s customer service. The website is worse than second rate as far as navigating it and it’s user friendliness. I am awaiting the arrival of a couple products, after which time I think I will delete the app and block messages from Mercari to avoid any further hassles.

Made my first purchase on mercari item was shipped back to seller bye the post office because buyer didn't charge proper amount or paid proper amount for shipping I contacted the seller and asked what was next and even offered to pay difference for shipping even though it was his mistake seller relisted item for a much higher cost and wanted me to pay new full asking price this is the most unprofessional site I have ever dealt with no structure highly unethical stay away customer service is a joke it's a gamble when you order not worth the risk this site is badly managed.... should be 0 stars
Zero stars if I could
Zero stars if I could. I purchased a pair of jeans on May 31st. Mercari advised the seller has 3 business days to ship your item. Several days went by, missed the 3 day shipping requirement and never heard back from the seller. Several requests sent to the seller requesting the shipping date but never heard back. Finally, after almost 2 weeks, I gave up and requested a refund. Mercari does not allow a review to be submitted unless you actually receive your item. I guess they don’t want people to post a review as then buyers would realize what a bunch of dishonest, flakey sellers they have and it would reflect poorly on Mercari. I’m done, never again. Don’t think they will be in business much longer with these type of dishonest, unreliable sellers. Good riddance.

Emily Phender. Seller. This is a most dishonest snake of a seller. Ordered a bathing suit. She never shipped it. Then lied. Stated she refunded me. Then no help from mercari. Then i opened a case of internet theft with the ftc. When she found out she shipped a piece of junk bracelet. Currently filed a police report. Usps report and federal trade commission report on this seller. Do not take a chance on this one. She is a living nightmare.

Warning Buying was Complete Nightmare!! I paid $190 for Airpods; which advertised as refurbished. They broke, after the 3rd day review.. Apple said that they were stolen, the Serial Number was, NOT Registered, because someone had filed a lost claim. Mercari,, who's customer service is virtually non-existent, Said I had until 12:00 pm to return them and I reported it at 12:02 pm. I tried to explain that they were NOT only broken, but Stolen Per Apple, and they the "Live Chat" person said that the matter had already been determined.
They would not revisit the matter.
The seller's information was all commercial businesses or made up. I could not write a bad review for the seller because the Mercari program does not allow it after the 3 day. I had NO ability to WARN others about the seller. DONE with them!!!

First , as a seller , mercari has transparent account overviews, anyone can see , what been credit or debit from all members accounts,, as every each time transactions are done , unlike any other website , charges monthly , which 39 to 31 days of transactions., with so many underlined fees , it gets such a stressful situation checking to see what been credited or debited from members account . I can breakdown/ comparison, MERCARI VS another selling websites, will take be full day to write .
Bottom line is , no matter what issues arises, mercari service team is best to solve problems quickly and efficiently and less stressful, than any another websites as long as members who follow rules exactly, those members has 100 % support from MERCARI .

If I could give zero stars, I would! The customer service and sellers on this website will take advantage of the "no return" policy. I purchased what I thought were black Tiffany glasses frames to have new lenses out in. All the photos the frames appeared to be black. Upon arrival I opened the package I saw they were 1.) Brown tortoise shell 2.) Bent so badly the arms stretched out past the frames and 3.) Not in "good" condition. After reaching out to customer service I was told they would honor a return for me and would be sending an email with a return slip enclosed. Ok, great I thought. I've had bad experiences with unresponsive sellers and items mysteriously not showing up. Long story short, there are a lot of scammers out there. THIS SITE IS ONE OF THEM! All other issues have been resolved in the past but for some reason this item was deemed "as described" and I was refused a refund after being told I WOULD greet a refund! Even after talking to the seller, who thought I had buyers remorse after receiving a garbage pair of designer frames and was "reaching" to get her to do a return. I will never EVER buy from this website again. Good thing I used a good credit card to make my purchase. I have already opened a dispute on the charge with screenshots to prove the email saying I would get my refund. The customer service rep "Barbs" admitted she sent the wrong message and there was nothing she could do. In that case, YOU MAKE IT RIGHT AND TAKE THE RETURN! I see you "Barbs" (highly doubt thats her name, I bet they outsource customer service reps to other countries since her english was not that great.) And the seller kmcmac will refuse a refund claiming you regret your purchase. Yeah I regret my purchase, because it was not as described!

Be careful if you buy or sell on Mercari...
If you use Mercari make sure you purchase or sell with PayPal. Mercari does not have a reliable customer service department and they do not have buyers or sellers best interests. I purchased a new set of Apple headphones and the seller shipped them to someone else and I tried to get Mercari to step in and they would not answer calls. Furthermore, you only have the option of returning the item, which in my case would not work! So thankfully I opened a PayPal dispute because they always have your back, Mercari sent me a message (to which you could not reply) saying we will restrict your account for using PayPal to deal with the matter. Ha! What fools! I would have loved to deal directly with them but they will not allow it. Anyway, I will get my money back because of PayPal. Be careful with Mercari, the business is not set up in a safe manner to protect you from fraud or mishaps. This being said I have had good luck with products purchased before with reliable sellers. But you cannot trust the actual Mercari business model when things go south. It’s a gamble every time you do a transaction.
