Delivery charge too high.
I ordered a small item that weighed just a few ounces and came in a box about 4 inches square.
The cost for delivery was £8.00. It was sent via DPD, who claimed we were not in when they called, despite house lights being on and a car in the drive. If the driver had rung our doorbell we would certainly have heard it.
I then had to drive to the next village to collect this item.
The item is as ordered, but I feel the this company should review the methods of delivery.

Good old fashioned service and attention to detail
It was lovely to find somewhere to still be able to buy the old fashioned articles I needed. The choice is excellent. The customer service was personal and swift. The items I wanted weren't in stock but they came me up to date with their progress. When the fragile items arrived they were very sensibly packaged so arrived intact. I would recommend this shop to anyone and will buy from them again

I was devastated when I broke my oil…
I was devastated when I broke my oil lamps glass chimney and couldn't find a one anywhere so I emailed this company and prayed they could help. After sending them photos, I was delighted to find that they had a match. I cannot thank the staff for all the help and advise they gave me and the prompt delivery of my brand new chimney. My old lamp is burning brightly thanks to the team.

The only acknowledgment of my order has…
I have considered the response from John Moncrieff lighting below and accept that the order date was too near Christmas, as I have already acknowledged, though I failed to see the notice regarding the reopening date. However the response does not address the lack of communication and acknowledgement of the order. I can only suggest that the company also looks at its processes particularly when during a period of shut down and pauses the requests for reviews. This would then not irritate customers.
The only acknowledgment of my order has been the demand for a review. It’s certainly been paid for. Ordered on 22nd of December and didn’t expect a delivery before Christmas, however still haven’t received any goods or any communication from this company. May have put this one down to a rogue company.

For clarity, our Christmas operating schedule was clearly communicated on our website prior to and during the festive period. Please note that our business was closed from 23rd December to 5th January, and the last order guaranteed for pre-Christmas dispatch was 18th December.
Your order was placed on 22nd December, outside of this guaranteed window, and during our published closure period. As stated on our website, all orders placed during this time were scheduled for dispatch upon our return, which was today.
We categorically refute the suggestion that this is a “rogue company.” Your order is fully paid, logged, and being processed in line with the timelines we communicated in advance. If you require a specific update, our customer service team is available and happy to assist via the appropriate contact channels.
We appreciate patience during peak seasonal shutdowns and encourage all customers to review delivery notices before placing time-sensitive orders.

One of the best experiences I have ever…
One of the best experiences I have ever had with a company in UK. They sent the item off same day as per my request and I got it with a 1-day delivery service on a Saturday all the way to London. Extremely good customer service and the Opal Glass Shade I ordered was packed really well and looked exactly as I expected! Will be using again and can happily recommend to anyone after well made glass shades for very competitive prices :)
