I began working with Marquee Equity earlier this year involving a Medical Device Company. We are now in the Global Outreach phase to raise USD 3M. The cooperation and flexibility to accommodate our needs are amazing especially always performing on time. We've had a fantastic and easy going experience with Marquee Equity in the creation of the pitch-deck, one-pager and a detailed financial model. Ankita Kalelkar has been quite responsive and a major help in answering questions on the financial model.

About two years ago, Marquee reached out to me via LinkedIn. At the time, I turned them down because their fundraising model didn’t make sense. However, earlier this year, they re-engaged, and despite reading numerous negative reviews ( am sure the positive ones are self-generated), decided to give them a chance after seeking clarification multiple times on our expectations.

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The team assigned to help develop our pitch deck didn’t take the time to understand our business. As a result, I ended up writing it myself, as the seniors tend to leave the project in the hands of newcomers. While they promised a dedicated team, the senior members were unresponsive to emails.

Their "spray-and-pray" approach to fundraising was ineffective. They claim to have connections with investors, but in reality, all they did was send cold emails to VCs and private equity offices, most of which were ignored, bounced, rejected or blocked. This continued for several months, without any progress. As a bootstrapped start-up, we not only lost money but also experienced self-doubt, stress, and frustration. Having committed to Marquee, we didn’t explore other, more legitimate fundraising avenues during this time. Another regret.

In hindsight, my frustration is primarily directed at myself for ignoring my better judgment. This decision led to financial losses, wasted time, and unnecessary stress.
