House thats full of mould, plasterboard beetles and booklice and when you tell the site manager he tells you his never heard of these before to just keep using bleach daily to clean it.
They dig up your front garden to put a post in and they damage all your grass and chuck the mud all in your grass then refuse to fix and lie for months that they fixed. when you ask for what they are claiming the done in writing they stop responding.
They make you use their solicitor and tell you, that you cant use your own solicitor, so you get rid of your solicitor then she lies what are your boundaries even after you moved in, is impossible to contact.
They unblock the drains and just chuck all the rubbish in the road. You have builders spitting outside your house.
Not to mentions poop pipes not even connected in the loft, half the loft insulation missing, cavity missing then the contractors turning up and being rude.
Flooring needing ripped up soon as we moved in then putting all their dirty tools on your bed where you sleep with your 1 year old.
The site manager becomes very annoyed and now wont even speak will send others.
All the people who brought fully got no door numbers, outdoor lights, grass or concrete garden post, but all the sheard ownership and social housing did.
You expect new houses to have issues but not this many it shows a lack of supervision and care. The way they get annoyed when you report problems is unprofessional.

A genuinely refreshing experience — Amanda is exceptional
If another estate agent opens the door and says, “Look at this very large kitchen,” or, “Isn’t that a nice window to the garden,” I think I might lose the corner plot! I have two eyes — I can work the rest out myself. And or, what I can’t stand is being interrogated during a viewing or talked at endlessly while trying to take in a home I’m genuinely considering. People need room to think, or chat to their partner! Unfortunately, these horrible habit to justify their existence seem to be the norm in the industry.
This is why Amanda at Matthew Homes (Thurston) was an absolute breath of fresh air.
From the moment we met, she treated the viewing like a conversation, not a performance. She pointed out the things a buyer wouldn’t know, asked thoughtful questions, listened properly and never made assumptions. She wasn’t pushy, impatient or dismissive — just genuinely helpful, knowledgeable and easy to deal with. I actually recommended her to my own estate agent because the contrast was that stark. (They didn't take it well btw)
If every estate agent worked the way Amanda does, buying a home would be far less anxious and annoying experience.
In the end, I didn’t purchase a Matthew Homes property simply because we couldn’t quite agree on price (the house was fantastic — my bank account less so). I’m genuinely disappointed not to be moving into a Redwing at The Hedgerows, but I am very grateful to have dealt with someone who restored a bit of faith in the humanity.

Our experience will Matthew Homes is a very good one. From the first day we went to view Meadow Gardens in Clacton.Kevin Huynh took us around, very good and patient Salesman, a nice bloke on a personal level also who guided us every step of the way.
It was thereby a surprise when we were told he has left on the day we went for the keys, we wanted to take pictures with him as family. If I had his personal number, I'd invited him personally.
But he's back now and I was really happy to see him back to his job.
You homes are good, my family loves Meadow Gardens, but pls keep Kevin Huynh, he was the reason we bought the house when it had not even been built yet.

We recently moved into our new Home, built by Matthew Homes.
We understand due to the nature of such big projects there will always be snagging items, which we raised, shortly after moving Into the property.
We found ourselves in an unfortunate position where a bigger issue was highlighted, while trying to rectify the original problem.
Jack and Paul, the contractors that were designated to help us carry out work, were amazing with their expertise. They took hold of the issues at hand and went above and beyond their remit to help us resolve everything. Their team of builders were incredibly hard working, tidy and respectful.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Jack and Paul, and we are extremely grateful for everything they did for us. We would call them back any time.

Do not buy from Matthew Homes. The house has terrible isulation but the worst for me is that since I purchased the house, I have been wasting lots of money to try keep the front garden turf alive. However nothing worked. I gave up and started removing and uncovered building waste including plastic bags, remains of cement, bricks and other rubbish under the turf. No joke it would not thrive. I contacted Mattew Homes who said I was 16 days off the end if the warranty and therefore they would not take accountability, even though they intentionally did this before the property was put for sale in the market. I am reporting them to the Trading Standards. Stay away!!

The builder team at Meadow Gardens were absolutely amazing! Graham and his fantastic team — James and Renvul — went above and beyond to help us settle into our new home. From day one, they were friendly, approachable, and always willing to lend a hand. Every issue was handled quickly and professionally, and their attention to detail really showed in the quality of their work. What stood out most was how easy they were to talk to and how much they genuinely cared about making sure everything was perfect for us. Their hard work, professionalism, and positive attitude made moving into our new home a truly wonderful experience!

The communication from Adrianne and Lynne has been exceptional here at the Thurston site , the home quality is outstanding , no hidden extras ( all other companies will charge extra for appliances, flooring etc ) and even after sale the site managers are taking care of us , happy is an understatement , from the day our offer was accepted to our completion day was just over 8 weeks so thank you for all your hard work guys we’ll defo recommend you to others :-)

Moved into our property at the end of feb 2025 and since had no major issues. There has been a few snags here and there which in this day and age are just unfortunately expected however they have all been dealt with with good speed and handled professionally.
Big credit to James Hesketh our site manager who I have found to be extremely efficient and on the ball.
Whatever issue or query I have had he has got back to me in quick time and might not also know the answer straight away which is expected he soon comes back with a reply after chasing the correct people
Nothing but good praise for James and we are extremely happy with our Mathew Homes house.
I am in the trade and I can promise you there are a lot worse and less caring builders building far more houses
I would without a doubt buy a Mathew homes house again

Very Poor service and would definitely not recommended.
I contracted Matthew homes about there poor manager at Matthew Homes but they never provided to get back to me. So alot of the problems they get with poor drainage at Clacton is due to drains not be correct fitted from the beginning and covering the problem up and blaming the residents. And the problems with the mould is the houses when built do not get a chance to dry out and in many chases the roof gets covered, the stairs go in and then the plasterboard is fitted within days. The plasterboard is stored outside and and only covered with a thin layer of plastic.
Alot of trade turn over, due to poor manager.

After leaving my last review, Matthew Homes went out of their way to finish the snags that had been outstanding for 10 months and I thought great, after months of stress/disruption, frustration and tears we were finally getting somewhere and we could finally really start enjoying our lovely new home. I was wrong! Flooring company came out to replace the vinyl in the ensuite and left various air bubbles under the vinyl and nobody bothered to check the work. Reported it to Matthew Homes within hours of them leaving and Dave the site manager came out and agreed that it wasn’t acceptable. Mastic guy turned up to finish the flooring but it wasn’t finished and went away again. I was told the flooring company would contact me directly to “look” at the flooring … 3 weeks after new flooring was fitted nobody has been out or even bothered to contact me and let me know what’s happening and the ensuite floor is still unfinished.
It literally would be laughable if it wasn’t happening constantly …. come on Matthew Homes, this really isn’t okay.
