Can't accept payments from overseas
The account is fine, as is the app, but the bank does not have a swift/iban code so can't accept payments from overseas. This is a big limitation on its usefulness.

Unfortunately, you aren't able to send or receive international payments with your Mettle account. However, this is a feature that we’re looking to add in the future.
Great for those who are self-employed
Great for those who are self-employed. Easy to use and upload receipts. Added bonus that you get free access to FreeAgent, which is a great help when filing annual tax returns.

Mixed Bag ...generally very good
Positives- Ease of use. Quick response from customer service for any issues. Ability to input details for transactions helpful for review later and during accounting.
Negatives- fixed templates for the transactions and even if it doesnt match one is forced to use it as there is no customisable option. Cheque payments are not available. There seems to be a move towards making it chargeable without the full convenience of banking including branch facility or cheque payment or ability to change transactable amounts.

Fantastic banking experience
I've been using mettle since becoming self employed.
It's super easy to use as a business account.
You can set up pots for tax and national insurance etc, so no need to start sorting out individually.
I set a percentage I would like it to move which it does automatically, leaving money in the account I know is my salary.
It takes so much stress out of accounting.
