They very cleverly suck you in to take an IQ test for 99p. Somehow during the payment process of the 99p, you inadvertently and passively consent to a monthly subscription to the tune of £29.99 a month. It is not clear that you have done so until you discover that they have debited your account for £29.99 for an ongoing unauthorised subscription.
I have sent several emails, at first I thought they were going to action a refund but they seem to keep you in a holding loop asking for the same information over and over again.
It’s a clever con a lot of people won’t notice that they are taking money for months.

I took the test and it does appear to stand up. However, the actual business itself is highly questionable and would indeed appear to be a money making scam. It appears to be a 'one man band', even though it purports to have a 'parent company, as any correspondence is answered by somebody who signs themselves of as 'Dave' at customer support I have never had communication from anybody else and assume this person is actually based in the USA.

So my story briefly is that I considered getting my score certified (it is in the region of a MENSA test score that I achieved some time ago) but unwittingly signed up to a subscription which was taken out at £14.99 a fortnight. This started during Spring 2025 although I only really noticed during Dec !

I contacted MyIQ by email and received what appeared on the face of it to be an empathetic response with an almost immediate repayment of 2x £14.99. 2 others showed in my bank statement as 'pending' for well over a week and this aroused my suspicions. Since then I have had various email communications which have been met by one excuse after another and suprise (!) the most recent ones have not received responses.

Nobody should give this guy/company money and hopefully somebody in the USA will know who to complain to officially. He may or may not be defrauding people but certainly should have his business activities closed down.

I took an online IQ test and paid a small, one-off fee, only to realise the result appears to be completely predetermined - it doesn’t seem to matter what answers you give, the outcome is the same.

Worse still, the company has since taken 8 separate payments of £29.99 from my bank account without my clear consent. I have no idea how these payments were authorised, as there was no obvious subscription sign-up or warning.

I’ve reported this to my bank and am waiting for their advice, but I would strongly caution others to avoid this company altogether. The whole experience is misleading and potentially fraudulent.

Dieses Unternehmen MyIQ hat mir vor ca. 5 Wochen unberechtigt 29,99€ abgebucht. Seit dieser Zeit habe ich schon 40 E-Mails mit der Bitte an MyIQ gesendet, den Fall zu klären. Ich bekam bisher von dieser Fa. über 40 E-Mails mit der Aufforderung meine Daten wie Kontonummer, Name und E-Mail zu senden, weil mein Konto nicht gefunden werden konnte. Mein Konto kann aber nicht gefunden werden, weil ich nie ein Konto bei MyIQ angelegt habe.

Don't take the IQ test. It's a con to lure you into a hidden subscription.

I did not give permission for a subscription of£29.99 to be taken from my account. This is a disgusting scam and anyone tempted to take their test should read all the poor reviews that have been posted and avoid it at all costs.

Unauthorized charge of €24.99 on Jan 6 after I canceled on Dec 30. Transaction ID 76B09299P6561631F. Refund this immediately.

Hidden subscription fee £29.99 and you don’t know until you see it come out of your bank.. you need to log in and cancel the subscription WHAT YOU NEVER SIGNED UP FOR

Further to my memo about my experience with miq i have spent the morning corresponding with davjd who must be a robot 12 emails being asked for the same info in all emails

I wrote a review giving an account of my bad experience of money being taken out my account. After lengthy correspondence I received an email apologising and stating new management were looking to improve their practices. They cancelled my account, I didn't know I had one, and gave a full refund.
It was nerve wracknig to say the least but when I mentioned going to my bank and instructing charge back procedure that was when I got a result. Charge back is very damaging to a company and it's financial reputation.
Thanks for the refund, but I will not use them again.

Do not trust this merchant! They will take 50p for an IQ test and with no consent or agreement then take 29.99 as a phony, fake ‘subscription’ fee that you have not agreed to. These are crooks and fraudsters. They need to be taken to account.

Thought it was over but oh no today I have received 4 different US IQ sites trying to scam
MyIQ sold on my details there is no other way this could happen

I was prompted with a one time pay for an IQ test,I got charged with 0.50EUR twice,only to find out later that I've unwillingly subscribed to a 29.99 euro subscription.

Please avoid this company at all costs, their web site offers a free IQ test that's requires a small charge of £1 to view your results, they have then taking a monthly subscription of £29.99 without my permission .

Scam!!! Paid a £1 for my IQ and a week later they took £29.99 out of my bank account and when I got in touch they asked the same question over and over trying to mock my intelligence playing mind games awful company stay well clear!! I've also written on social media to avoid on all platforms hope people will listen hate it when people scam genuine people, go find a decent job!!!

Scam company, totally misleading. My 16 year old daughter fell for the £1 IQ test and had £29.99 removed from her account a week later. This was never made clear and is a huge amount of money for her to lose. The bank were very familiar with this company when she phoned them but apart from blocking further payments they won’t do anything. Please beware and do NOT give this scam company your card details.

Same story unfortunately I missed the first instalment of £29.99 and have now been scammed out of £59.98. I spotted it yesterday went on their website and "stopped" their "subscription" or scam as most people would call it. Did not trust them and then got hold of my bank Nat West, they say they have "blocked" any further payment. Reported it to NatWest as a scam but they say because there is a message in terms and conditions on the website, which apparently none of us see they will not refund the payments, and don't consider this to be a scam which we all know it it. I will be taking this further with NatWest. Why with all these people flagging this scam is there no warning against any payment to this company. NatWest hiding behind legalistic jargon. IT IS A SCAM. plain and simple and we should be refunded as such. I will also report this to Radio 4 You Yours, they seem to be a lot more active on scam protections than our useless banks.

I took what I thought was a 1€ IQ test. Immediately after, I was charged 19.99€ for a subscription I never authorized. This company uses "dark patterns" to hide their subscription fees. When I contacted support for a refund, they asked me to send my full credit card details over email, which is extremely unsafe and highly suspicious. This is a predatory business model. I’ve had to block my card and report this to my bank. Save your money and stay away

Scam! They took money from my account too. Now I can see that Google knows all about it, but somehow my browser found it safe to use this service. Really upsetting.

Unfortunately trapped as per everyone else, £29.99 taken today for a test I paid £0.88 for three weeks ago. Reported to police, trading standards and my bank.
