On 03-13-2024 I was doing online Annual Statement renewal for our small LLC business. Since I had done this online a number of times in the past, I went ahead and typed or keyed in the URLfor Michigan government website LARA (Licensing and Regulatory Affairs) Department.
Istead of getting into the right website, I kept getting directed REPEATEDLY into this Business Filing website. They made it appear like I was in the correct web address where I wanted to renew our Annual Statement of $25.
Since it was already almost 6 pm I felt pressed to complete my business transaction. Instead of $25 I was shocked to find that the renewal charge was $150!
I logged out a few times and tried my best to log in again to LARA using search engine. I was repeatedly directed to this Business Filing website where they finally got me to pay $150 by credit card in addition to collecting several pieces of information from me.

I felt very bad about paying this amount that night as
i realised I shouldnt have to pay 6 X more the usual amount.

The next morning I phoned LARA office AND SHARED my previous experience. I was told that this Business Filing or newbusinessfiling .org is a third party company and is in no way connected to the government office. I was given the correct URL to get into in order to pay our annual dues.
I was told that these 3rd party companies do pay or advertise on Google or other search engines. That was why I kept getting directed to this company instead of LARA. Google or Search Engines do tend to divert or misdirect unsuspecting business filers like me.

I was out $125 from this company who "hijacked" me into paying several times more than what was due.

I tried to call their 800 number repeatedly to cancel the transaction the next day but to no avail.I was told that payment was already made and no refund was allowed.
I called my credit card company and reported this scam issue. My credit card company did stop or cancel the transaction as it was still within 24 hours.

Lesson learned:I will be a lot more careful next time in dealing with online business filing. I will not go ahead and pay just because I was pressed in time.

This is a scam. They will charge you 100$ initially and then charge you another 298$ for reasons unexplained. This is frustrating and I feel that I have been taken advantage of.

Attention all business owners. This company try’s to trick people into believing they need to pay this company. It’s lies! This company leads people to believe they can get penalized up to $500 a day if your business doesn’t comply.

DO NOT USE THEM! Wish I could give ZERO STARS! But if this is FOR FRAUD I'd give five stars! Count me in as another one who got fooled by BEN and DAN'S COMPANY "NEW BUSINESS FILING LLC". A so-called company that preys on people who think they're on a government website. You can't even find information on where this scam company is located. The owners BEN AND DAN won't even divulge their last names on their company website because they're probably scared of all of the lawsuits that they'd encounter for taking people's money. They have some kind of link posted on a state's filing website-- (in NJ for me-- the link listed on my correspondence from NJ that led me to them is no longer there). One is led to believe that you are being compliant and filing your annual report for your state. They make you think that you are going to be charged $500/day if you don't file immediately. (The deadline is actually Jan. 1. 2025!) The fee is $200. Then, they give the choice to pay $250 to not have to file for the next five years. They are scammers and they should be ashamed of themselves. If they even slightly proud of their company, they'd list their last names and where they're located on their site-- but they DON'T.

I'm another one fooled thinking i was using official NYS website to do a $9.00 filing only to see with them it's going to be $78!! And no refunds or cancellations. $69.00 fee for what would have taken me 3 minutes on the actual website. I will be disputing these charges and filing complaint with NYS Attorney General's Office for a predatory website.

I had the great experience of being helped by a woman named Sky. She was so patient with me and after I sent the requested documents she stayed on the phone with me until she had checked that my documents had been received. She didn't get impatient and made me feel so comfortable. I'd give her 5 stars!

Another scam email (and I have received several of them over several months) threatening that my "registration for my company is set to expire and/or fall delinquent" on a specific date "if no report is filed, and the business will fall out of compliance with state regulation and be subject to fees and penalties and ultimately dissolved". You are a bogus company; I have never used you before, so how do you know when my registration "is set to expire"! My business files (annually) with my Secretary of State of where I do business. Don't fall for it people, they are phishing for your personal information!

PS. In response to NBF response to my 1st review. They are correct (my error), I did use their business filing service and paid the fee (in 2021). Much to my regret now, because this filing was unnecessary. I don't know of any gain I received from paying $125 for this service, while also paying my state's business registration filing directly. Their current email reminder (and I received several reminders) to renew has strong language that makes one fear to be "out of compliance with state regulation and be subject to fines and penalties", if not filed through them. At the very bottom of their email in fine print, they state that they "are not affiliated with any government office/agency, but independently owned". In addition, there's a link to "unsubscribe", of which now I have unsubscribed to be on their mailing list.

I was fooled by the newbusinessfiling.org website. I was misled that I was entering the State of NJ site. The link said "Online Filing-NJ Secretary of State". We ended up paying an additional $125 to file a document that I entered all the info myself. For me this was a ripoff. Now they have my credit card information and personal information Beware!!!

This company overstepped. When they couldn't do the job I asked for rather then contact me to see what to do next they did what they wanted and not what I needed totally mucking up my business don't use them the are boarder line fraudulent
