I ordered my kit from Newly Named and I got exactly what I paid for. The kit does make it easy for you to change your name.

The reason for my poor rating is because after I bought the kit, I received an email from Colie at Newly Named asking me to complete a survey about the Newly Named kit I bought, and I would be entered into a drawing with a chance to win $250.00! After our wedding, some extra cash sounded wonderful!

Well, I started the survey, and the 1st question was about my personal financial situation. The 2nd question was about my partner's financial situation. The 3rd question was about us joining our finances. I don't know what the rest of the questions are because I ended the survey after the 3rd question. Explain to me how my finances and my husband's finances have anything to do with our Newly Named kit? Why does Newly Named want to know how much we make and if we are combining our finances? What does that have to do with anything?

And guess what happened immediately after I closed out of the survey? You guessed it! I got bombarded with spam. The whole scam was to get as much info about us and sell it to 3rd parties. Shame on Newly Named! Praying on their customers after such a big event and huge expense, this company is phishing its own customers to sell their info to scammers and 3rd parties' parasites. I highly doubt there is an actual drawing for $250 and if there really is, I wonder what the actual cost is to enter into the drawing.

I would never recommend this company to anyone based on their sleazy practice of selling our info to scammers.

This box made changing my name way easier than I expected. Saved me a bunch of time since I didn't have to fumble around googling a million things. Would recommend.

Very frustrated at this point. First off, it doesn't matter which color you choose, they ship it just like that, labels plastered all over it and shipping tape, it's not a nice keepsake box. I also did not receive enough postage and mailing envelopes, for a hundred+ $, they should send extra just in case. And to top it off
, the information is NOT up to date and I have wasted 4 hours, gas, wear and tear and have to go back, their paper says name changes made in person do not need an appointment, I did step hy step what their paperwork said and went on in and waited for my walk in turn to be told this paperwork is bogus and just a way for people to make money and they commonly cause people to have to make extra trips and run around. I am very displeased and if I hadn't already started using the check list and ONE form, I would do a return. I feel stolen from and taken advantage of. I'm having to do this all myself without this box and still paid for it. This is wrong.

SO worth it! I just learned about this company from a friend and am SO happy I pulled trigger. I was really daunted by this whole process and they made it easy to digest, easy to follow along, easy to do and avoid mistakes along the way. It's now my GO TO gift for friends' weddings (both for utility and perfect price point). V happy !

I was completely unable to use their website to find any of the institutions I bank with, have insurance with, or anything else. The website does not appear to work at all. Possibly if you go out on your laptop it is more usable, but this is the third decade of the 21st-century so websites should have perfectly working mobile websites also. I should not have to dig out my laptop to do this. I originally gave them a one star review because I couldn't even reach them to get a refund. After numerous emails where they would not even acknowledge the possibility of issuing a refund,a refund was finally issued when I reiterated my threats regarding getting my money back through my credit card company, writing bad reviews all over the Internet, etc. Then all of a sudden I got some cooperation..-1.. then it took several days to show up even in pending which is very weird. usually a pending credit shows up almost immediately after being issued it does not take three days.But eventually it showed up. So I guess that's one good thing I can say about them. I do not understand why they were recommended by Forbes because when you read all the one star reviews on trust pilot, it makes no sense to spend any money at all on their services.

I bought the upgraded version of Newlynamed. I got married overseas. I emailed them 3x and they never responded. I am stuck from the beginning and have tried calling SSA but not having any luck. Once they have your money, you're on your own.

I was skeptical but I wouldn't been so lost without this name changing kit. I knew I could do all the research on my own but the time I saved by having NewlyNamed break it all down for me was SO worth it. I probably had to update my name in 30 places so I'm sure this kit saved me at least 12 hours of figuring things out.

Absolute waste of money. I wish I researched more before purchasing the do-it-yourself kit. I had heard from a family member that they make everything super easy by filling out all the forms…they absolutely do not. You’re paying for them to send you printed forms with your name filled in, and sometimes your address. This equals to about 5% of all of the forms filled in, leaving you with all the work. Doesn’t make anything easier, and they overpromise what you actually get. To charge $49 to upwards of $99 is a total scam. You still need to go into all of the departments physically, and send all of these forms. I would just Google what it takes for your name change in your state, and download everything yourself.

I have used Newly Named as a gift for several of my friends and they have loved it! I wish this was an option when I got married, this brand makes changing your name so much simpler. Best wedding gift - would highly recommend!

I used NewlyNamed after receiving a gift card at my bridal shower. It was amazing, it spells out everything you need to do and in which order (which is very important). It honestly made the process so easy I couldn’t recommend it more!

It’s now my go to gift for weddings and bridal showers.

DO NOT purchase the $89 option. You're paying $50 extra for ~30 sheets of paper, a folder, 4 prepaid envelopes, and a cardboard box. The only item we mailed out was the passport and the prepaid envelope did not cover postage. I had to pay extra at the post office. If you have a printer, go that route. You only need to print ~15 sheets for applications (SS, DL, Passport, etc.). The service provides decent steps and clear instructions. Note: DMV title/registration instructions were incorrect but easily fixed when you are at the DMV, we needed to fill out an additional form.

The Newlynamed team has been so helpful! I had a few questions even before purchasing the kit and the Newlynamed team responded so quick. Getting the Newlynamed kit was such a great decision because the process can be confusing and the kit provided incredibly clear step-by-step instructions on how to do it all. Would definitely recommend to anyone changing their name after marriage!

This provides you nothing a five minute Google search could not do. It does save you an additional 5-10 minutes having to search for printable documents as they come already ready to print. Each state is so different and this just has the passport and social security universal forms that are handy for any state.
