Oxfam Online Shop Reviews 

Item has not arrived, despite the fact that it is now eight days after I received an email claiming that it had been despatched. Have been told that no tracking number available as all items are despatched by ordinary second class mail. Also told that it is Oxfam policy that I have to wait ten of their (rather than Royal Mail) working days after despatch date before they will even consider processing a refund.

Updated 3/11/24: Item did not arrive, but refunded quickly and efficiently. Won't be using them again unless they offer tracked delivery service.

I have bought some fantastic items from Oxfam online including Radley handbags, designer purses, clothing and new shoes. Sometimes I have had free delivery and if an item has to be returned, it's quick and easy. Items arrive fast too. It's a good cause to support and helps the environment.

Ordered a vinyl LP and they sent me a CD
The advert said vinyl and paided for that, if I wanted a CD I could have got it for a third of the cost

Awful service and staff couldn’t care less .

Ordered a dvd and paid over the odds for it but I was thinking it’s a charity so it’s not a problem then I was charged £3.95 for delivery which more places is free .

I ordered the dvd on the 16th then the next day got the proof of order but got to the 27th and still no dvd so emailed to find out what’s going .
The next day I get a reply from Bryony saying it hadn’t been dispatched until the 19th and was posted second class so .85p stamp but I was billed £3.95 and was told give it 7-10 days and to wait until the 3rd to contact them again if it’s still not arrived!!!!!! It was day 9 when I got this reply but to then be told wait another week on top it’s a joke .

I ordered three dvds for world of books a fraction of the price free delivery and they turned up three days later yet Oxfam is joking two and half weeks and it’s still not arrived and I paid more that it was new and then stung massive delivery as well and the customer service is clearly some lazy work from home staff member that’s completely uninterested and unhelpful.

I would never buy from them again

Update now 2nd of September still no dvd.
Emailed to get it looked it as was eventually sent on the 19th of August so 11 working days as they don’t count weekends yet Royal Mail work weekends .
My reply from Bryony copied and pasted is just unreal , even with the bank holiday taken out it’s ten days but they are also discounting the day they sent it as well and making me wait and email again tomorrow???!!!!!!!

I appreciate how frustrating it is waiting for a parcel to be delivered. I truly do apologise for any disappointment which may have occurred during this time. unfortunately, we do need to allow the full timescale of up to 10 working days, which would be the 3rd of September due to the bank holiday.

I understand this may be tedious to ask, but I am unable to investigate your missing parcel until our timescales have been exceeded; I hope you understand.

After all that the next day I contacted and nothing was done at all !!!!!! Just a short blunt I have done a refund that’s it’s go away lol

To answer the reply what’s the point clearly you’re just as uninterested by the click and paste response and complete lack of any regret at disgusting service .

Make a complaint when it’s all your company standard excuse and nothing will happen

If they want to improve, they need to answer e-mails.

We should all do this. Bought quite a few items from Oxfam online, the best being antiques. All very smooth, well packaged and on time. I don't give any credibility to other reviews on here saying that new items can be cheaper...er.... it's for charity, not all about you saving money ! Online prices are well researched and at market levels, which makes me comfortable when I'm supporting a charity.

Firstly I feel bad for complaining about a charity shop, however the service I have received is poor. I ordered items on 13/12/23 which were dispatched on 19/12/23 and were not received within the timeframe advised. They still haven’t arrived. I sent an email asking for a tracking code to the enquiries@ email address to which I didn’t receive a reply. Emailed a coupled of days later asking for a refund as goods had not arrived but this email too has been ignored. Will be seeking a refund via my credit card company and sadly will have nothing to do with Oxfam ever again in terms of donations or purchases.

I am a repeat customer to Oxfam's online shop and I have purchased a range of second hand items, including shoes, handbags, clothes, books and jewellery. I think it is great way to shop and I love their website (although some items need better descriptions). Overall I have always been pleased with my purchases, especially with the quality of second hand books. My one gripe is how some stores wrap and send items. Some stores are very good at this and take great care, and others seem to take no care with whatsoever. I think this is definitely something Oxfam need to address so there is greater consistency.

Have been buying clothes from Oxfam for years. Have found in the main a very good service. Returns aren't at the speed of a corporate company but I have never had any major problems. If returns have gone missing which has been rarely they sorted it out promptly when I queried this with proof of return. I have been able to order some quality clothes, shoes and throws that I would have been hard pressed to find elsewhere.

Unfortunately the online store is administered really badly.

Fragile items are only marked as fragile underneath the exterior Oxfam branded packaging, so the post office have no idea things are fragile and items arrive broken.

Often you will purchase an item online and payment is taken, but then you get an email a week or so later from the store saying unfortunately they can't find the item and they offer you a refund.

Unfortunately the central Oxfam HQ are inept at calculating refunds. If you've used a voucher code discount on an order then want to return just one item from it they will deduct the full order's discount from your item, they don't seem to understand why that's wrong. Just do some basic maths and you'll figure out the problem, their dodgy logic could mean customers end up owing Oxfam money if they want to return one item from a multi item order where a discount applied...

I liked shopping there in the past because it's helping charity and there are some good items, but unfortunately I've had so many problems with different orders that I don't recommend it anyone anymore.

No point in trying to buy any type of gold jewellery now as it is always sold out instantly. I am not given a chance to buy any jewellery.

I ordered six items of clothing and five of them were great - really good condition considering they were secondhand. However, one item had a weird musty smell, maybe like stale smoke. I tried washing it but the smell is still there - I can only think that maybe it was owned by a smoker. Unfortunately I threw all the packaging away before I realised it was possible to make returns, so feeling a little miffed that I paid £9.99 for a top that I can't wear (and I don't even want to pass it on/donate it because of its smell!). But I am pleased with all of the other items I bought. I will buy from them again, but will remember to keep the packing slip etc. next time!

Sad to do this such a worthy charity but I don't want any to have the disappointment I have had.
Bought a vinyl record from the online site only to receive this email:
While packaging this item I noticed a slight scratch on the last track on one side.
It could be this doesn't notice when playing, but wanted to let you know in advance.
If you are not happy with the item you can request a refund and return it.

As mentioned Debbie was quick to respond to my query but a poor 15% discount on my next purchase just isn't good enough, bit of an insult really.
yes i know its a charity with a worthy cause but don't be disappointed if it happens to you.

I didn't want to leave a less than 5-star reivew about a charity shop on TrustPilot but I've experienced such a succession of unhappy shopping experiences on-line with Oxfam that I feel compelled to warn others, and also hopefully prompt Oxfam to improve. Many of their books and other items are very over-priced compared to the general secondary market such as eBay and other second hand book sites; but that's not the main issue since you can always just not buy (though it's very important to know NOT to assume that Oxfam's pricing is fair). What's shocking is how often defects aren't mentioned in the description or shown in the images provided in the ad listing. I've just received a damaged book which wasn't even the same edition as that shown in the listing photo. Also, the packaging is often very inadequate: I've received numerous items badly bumped and damaged. It seems to depend on the branch and individual volunteer working there: some of their individual branches are great, but I recommend you simply don't necessarily expect your item to arrive well packed or be as in good a condition as described. One big redeeming feature, and it's an important one, is that Oxfam's customer services are very good (Debbie and Craig particularly so, thank you both!) so if you have a problem, they should be able to help.

I've just received five books listed as in good condition. The books are in excellent condition and look brand new. They arrived well packaged and in good time. They also arrived with two chocolates enclosed, a nice treat that brought a smile to my face. Five star service and would definitely both recommend and use again.

Great online store for rare books at highly competitive prices.

A great service by Oxfam online shop from tunbridge wells. I was apprehensive as I wanted to buy something that rare and it’s not a very cheap price for me, and when I checked their ratings here there were only 1 review and it was 1 star. So I emailed and call the store that had the item, asking for more pictures, which I got a response within the hour of enquiry, got more pictures which makes me confident in purchasing the item. The item it self arrived within 5 days of purchase. The only thing that prevent me to give a 5* ratings is because the way the item is sent without a tracking number, which in a chance the item missing I would not be able to track, claim refund to both Oxfam or Royal Mail. This made me a bit reluctant to purchase another item from their online shop in the future as I felt it’s less safe than other online store that proven has money back guarantee.

do not order from these ,you get wrong items sent and some not sent at all and they dont answer emails and wont refund either
