Do not buy, absolutely awful

If I could give Pippeta 0 stars I would. I used this once or twice a day for 6 weeks and then it broke. I was asked to send it off to Pippeta, no mention of free returns from them. I asked for a free returns label and it was sent. Sent back the item, but was emailed stating that it could take 30 days and did I want to purchase an interim motor. They would not send it for free. They tested it and they did find a fault, so said they would send a new motor. By then I had lost all faith in Pippeta and it halted my breastfeeding journey. I asked for a full refund and it was refused due to it being over 30 days after purchase. DO NOT BUY. I am so disappointed and upset. What a waste of money. I would not recommend these at all.

Just to clarify a few points you mentioned: we don’t state anywhere that warranty testing can take up to 30 days. The only time 30 days is mentioned in our warranty is if a return comes back with no name or order details, in that case, we hold it for 30 days in case someone gets in touch, before disposing of it.

We always test returned pumps the same day they arrive, and in your case, once the motor was received, we identified the fault and sent out a replacement straight away, completely free of charge. That’s in line with the Consumer Rights Act, which says that after the first 30 days, a company must be given the chance to repair or replace before a refund is offered.

We’re genuinely sorry this process disrupted your pumping journey, that’s never something we want to happen. We do everything we can to make things right as quickly as possible, and we appreciate how frustrating it must’ve been when things didn’t go to plan.

Great pumps, great customer service

I initially bought 1 pump back in 2021 with my eldest son. Unfortunately breastfeeding didn't work out for us, my supply tanked due to latching issues and after a few weeks of barely getting dribbles, I threw in the towel with pumping.

Fast forward to 2024, our youngest came along and took to breastfeeding like a duck to water. With a working motor already, I wanted to replace all other components after being in storage and taking a yellow tinge. Their customer service was great, and I was guided into what I needed and not talked into buying a whole new pump which I really appreciated.

As feeding was going so well, I bought a second pump to help build up a freezer stash. Unfortunately after a couple of months the motor would intermittently stop. I got in touch with customer services, sent over a video of the pump switched on but nothing happening, and after checking a couple of details (proof of purchase as I bought it from Boots, and photos of the batch number on the unit), they had a new one in the post to me the next day. No fuss, no quibbles, no waiting around to inspect the unit and get a decision. I initially reached out for advice incase there was some kind of reset I wasn't aware of, and was anticipating being told to go via Boots to return a faulty product.

I can only assume it was a known fault with that particular batch as they didn't need me to send it back for inspection. These things happen, and whilst it's annoying, they resolved it quickly and didn't make me jump through hoops to prove it wasn't user error or damage caused by me.

I've seen a few reviews complaining about lack of suction over time. Whenever the pumps feel less effective than usual, replacing the diaphragm/valve/sealing ring has it feeling as good as new again. There is no obvious degradation to these parts, but they do need to be replaced regularly to keep the pumps on top form.

I spoke with someone extremely helpful…

I spoke with someone extremely helpful on the live chat who was understanding and helped me massively. My hands free pump motor stopped working randomly yesterday, with a newborn and only 2 weeks of use you can imagine my frustration ( and sore breasts) as my son relys on pumping due to poor latch.

I spoke with someone via the warranty side and they were extremely helpful and understanding. I want the CEO to see this review and reward the person who helped me as it caused me distress not being able to pump and the issue has been rectified quickly. Thank you to that kind person.. you are a credit to Pippeta

Great product and 5 star customer service

I love my pump (most important factor), but customer service have gone above and beyond. When it initially had a shipping issue, they sent one ASAP to me. Then I had a fault with the motor, and within 10 minutes of my sending my warranty claim, they had shipped a replacement. 5 star product (albeit the motor issue wasn't ideal, but these things happen), and 5 star customer service

Avoid

Paid a significant amount of money for a pump bundle for it to last less than 6 months. Continuously burst and the cup would come apart from the motor causing significant milk loss. Not suitable Tudor pumping on the go - had to sit completely still and even then it would fall apart.
Lost power after a couple of months and poor suction. The pump then completely gave up a few days before I was due to be out of the county for a month with my baby. I was told I’d have to send it back to pippeta for an engineer to inspect and that I could purchase an another motor which would be “mine to keep” . Lo and behold they said that the damage wasn’t covered by warranty as they had discovered milk contamination in the motor. They then told me “not to lean forward” whilst pumping. Really?!
The reason for the milk contamination is the repeated bursting of the pump and it looks like I’m not the only one with this issue judging by the reviews. This is quite clearly a pump issue and not a customer issue. We can’t all be wrong?
Not only am I out of pocket for the pump but also the postage in sending it back!
Really really disappointed- especially when you advertised women doing Pilates whilst wearing the pump!

UPDATE

Purchased a replacement motor 2 weeks ago as this was desperately needed and it has also stopped working!
The exact same issue and I have made sure that there is no way that it has been contaminated.
There is no way that I am the cause of 2 broken pumps and am furious that I’ve been left in such an upsetting and frustrating situation in my feeding journey. I will be seeking advice from trading standards now.

That said, we’d just like to take a moment to reiterate the information we’ve already shared, to ensure everything is clear moving forward.

Our pumps are thoughtfully designed to keep milk safely away from the motor. As a closed system, each pump features a silicone seal between the motor and the cup, preventing milk from being drawn into the motor.

They’re ideal for use on the go, so you can get on with your day while pumping. There is a small pouring hole at the top of the cup, so we do recommend avoiding leaning too far forward. By following the guidelines and keeping an eye on the measurement markings, you can feel confident that milk won’t enter the motor.

If milk has entered the motor, this is due to external factors such as overfilling or improper positioning. Rest assured, this isn’t a fault with the pump itself, but we’re always happy to offer guidance and support if you need it.

Frequently spill milk due to poor…

Frequently spill milk due to poor suction. Power pack really difficult to fit onto the pump parts properly, keeps falling off. Massive waste of money.

Used my pump for three weeks and they…

Used my pump for three weeks and they are now both broke, the suction has failed on both of them. Such a shame as it was a comfortable product but only worked for a short amount of time. Also the box states if you open it you are unable to get a refund which is rubbish if the product doesn’t last long.
I have now had to buy a new pump with a different brand.

Pippeta Hands Free Breast Pump

The BEST breast pump you could buy! I'm currently finishing my BF journey, but I know it wouldn't have been as successful as it was without the Pippeta Handsfree pump. Once you've read through the instructions, it's so simple to put together and tailor to yourself. I can't believe how much milk I produced from it. After a few goes, I could pump 8oz at a time which was great to keep baby topped up and give myself some freedom. The bottle storage bottles are fantastic too. Would highly recommend!

Impressive pump at excellent price

I am really impressed with this pump, the box came with so many spare bits and for the price it’s absolutely excellent. I used another more expensive brand before which kept going off constantly in my bag, was fiddly with wires and lost its power quite quickly. My friend recommended this and I was sceptical, didn’t want to fork out for another pump but I’m very glad I did, it’s worth the money and great that it’s wire free. The bra extenders worked very well (only suitable to work with nursing bras).

Baby proof table wear

Lovely colours and designs of the weaning set. My LO has a tendency to swipe their plate and bowl on the floor so the suction function has been excellent. Suction on both the bowl and plate work really well.

I really wish I’d read the reviews…

I really wish I’d read the reviews before purchasing this product. I’d really advise reading them and then going elsewhere to buy breast pumps. I loved them at first but then the buttons on one pump stopped working after 4 months. The buttons no longer working was not covered by warranty which compared to other brands is very disappointing. The customer service team were quick to respond, but almost too quick with a very long email being written in under 2 minutes, meaning this must be a very common problem that they refuse to solve as it would be too costly. Finally, my other pump has after 6 months of using it once a day lost significant power. I would now highly advise going with an alternative brand and avoiding these at all costs. Which fills me with pity as they were so promising at the start!

I’d like to clarify that if there is ever a technical issue, such as buttons not working, this is absolutely something that is covered under our warranty. However, in your particular case, after a full investigation, including detailed email explanations and clear photographic evidence shared with you, it was found that the issue was caused by a significant build-up of milk residue within the pump parts. This contamination had dried and hardened over time, which unfortunately prevented the motor and buttons from working correctly. This type of damage is not related to a product fault, but rather misuse, which is why it was not eligible for a warranty replacement.

We always try to be transparent and thorough when explaining our findings, and I appreciate it may not have been the outcome you had hoped for. We genuinely value your feedback and will continue to use all feedback, positive or negative, to improve how we support our customers.

On the fence

I’m still not sure on this pump. The first two times I used it I was able to get a really good amount of milk, the same as I would get with my Spectra. However, the next morning I woke up with a blocked milk duct in my left breast which could be coincidental (baby has a poor latch and wasn’t nursing well during the night). Since then I’ve struggled with supply from that breast with both my spectra and the pippeta.

I got to the point where I was dreading using the Pippeta because I found the suction too strong and it hurt my nipples. I’ve since stopped using automatic mode and started using the smaller flange insert, it’s a lot more comfortable but I still prefer the spectra in terms of comfort. I do think wearable pumps are a learning curve and my issue is user error.

I also dislike the motor, I keep knocking it off if I’m moving around and I feel like it doesn’t click into place easily.

I’m hoping I’ll get used to the pump and will be able to benefit from being handsfree.

Pleasantly surprised

Considering this is a battery powered pump I have been surprised at how powerful it is. It makes pumping a bit more convenient and lets you move around a bit more. It’s easy to clean and assemble. I personally don’t find it too noisy and have used it at night without disturbing my partner.

The only downside I have found is the motor unit is a little bit hard to attach to the cups.

Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company! One of the pumps stopped working completely in which I retuned at my own cost. Upon return, I was informed of an additional fault that was previously unknown to me. It is unacceptable for a product designed to handle milk to fail in this way. If milk entering the pump can cause it to break, this suggests poor design and a lack of durability for its intended use.
To make matters worse, the suction on the second pump in the pack also stopped working properly, rendering it useless.
Within a short period, the product has developed two significant faults. Despite careful sterilization of all parts after every use, as recommended for products used with newborns, the pumps failed to perform as they should.
I believe I am entitled to a refund under consumer rights laws, as the product is of unsatisfactory quality and not fit for purpose. The faults occurred within 30 days of purchase, which further reinforces my claim.
This company blames customers for misuse when it is a manufacturers fault. You are violating consumer rights as it developed a fault within 30 days.

Sorry you felt the need to leave a bad review and comments across our social media accounts.

To reiterate the information we have previously provided and to ensure clarity: your pump is not faulty. It has stopped working due to misuse, not due to a manufacturing defect.

Consumer rights state that damage caused by misuse voids the right to a refund within 30 days. We have been transparent and honest in presenting all the information and evidence available including sending you pictures and videos.

Additionally, the cups were not clean upon return which was the primary cause of the issue. Once these parts where replaced with those within your box, your pump was in full working order, in which video evidence was sent to you.

Please see the information below;
"If a customer requests a refund within 30 days for a damaged product, most consumer protection laws state that they are not legally entitled to a full refund if the damage resulted from misuse or negligence. In such cases, the business has the right to refuse a refund."

As a small business run by mums, we have conducted extensive research on the design of our pump and we are proud of the product and loyal customer base we have created. To clarify, there is no reason for milk or water to enter the motor unless the product is misused.

We have returned your breast pump to you, if you refuse delivery, the parcel will likely be stored by Royal Mail and may eventually be discarded. As the owner, it is your decision on how to proceed with your package from that point.

It's important to note that with any electrical product, some faults can occur, and as a brand, we acknowledge that. If such issues arise, we are committed to working with customers for replacements. However, as we have communicated via email multiple times, as well as in response to your attempts to post negative comments across various platforms this evening, the problems identified with the pump you returned does not stem from a product defect or a design flaw. Instead, they were due to misuse.

Absolutely love this brand already!

Absolutely love this brand already. The Pippeta compact feeding bundle came in such lovely packaging. Along with great presentation, it has everything you need for your breastfeeding journey. Completely worth all the hype :)

Great product, disappointing customer service

I am a first time mum and bought the Pippeta pump after recommendations from two friends. I found I needed the smaller flange inserts so placed a new order for these. I signed up online to get a 10% off code but assumed I had done something wrong as I did not receive the code. I waited around 15minutes but still no code, so I went ahead with the order anyway. A further 10minutes later and I got the code. I emailed customer service asking if I could be refunded the discount, and I was told this was against Ts&Cs. I asked to cancel the order so I could redo it, using the code, and was told this was not possible as the item was already shipped and I would need to return the items ordered.
As a customer service manager myself I feel this is an example of poor customer service. The business I work for, as well as other businesses I have purchased from before, would have had no issue refunding the discount code. I am left disappointed by the customer service received.
As for the product itself, it is a great pump, clear instructions and fast delivery.
