Sadly I had to dismantle my model railway because of downsizing, but Rails offered me a fair price for my locomotives and coaches and paid very promptly. I am pleased that they will be sold on to someone who will enjoy them.

last few orders have been very sloppy ordered the KR DD train and had to ring them up to remind them i had ordered it * SLOPPY #1 * took them a while to work that out too. Despatch was surprisingly Ok once they worked out it was paid for But shouldnt have to remind them !!!!!!!!!!!! Also paid for a SATURDAY delivery and yep it arrived MONDAY

#2 ordered an item at 1038AM on friday and even rung them up to ensure it was despatche BEFORE the deadline and yep you guessed it Marked as POSTED SUNDAY SLOPPY again

first order was a HST power car set in virgin livery description of the listing ceratianly didnt mention it wouldnt run correctly #SLOPPY 3

so for the consistently sloppy experiences they get 2 stars and thats generous

Great service from the team in the prompt and helpful way they helped me to trade in my HO American outline models, and the swift payment that allowed me to order up more O gauge items for my British Rail western region layout.

I have been buying from Rails online for many years and they are always helpful and very knowledgeable. I had some missing couplings from a set of wagons that I purchased from Rails and asked them to step in and help sort it out as the manufacturer was not cooperating with me. They were happy to help and have managed to sort it out. A big thank you to Rails, as always very helpful.

Bought a gift voucher as a Christmas gift. Beware - all you receive is an email with a smart code. Which I'm sure works to provide value to the amount paid. But as a gift - it's pretty rubbish gifting a smart code. I expected a nicely formatted printable gift card with spaces to write to, from, a gift message - none of that. Given I was gifting to an elderly relative who barely knows what a smart code is, I felt really embarrassed handing over this sorry excuse for a 'gift voucher'.

Absolutely fantastic , service in every avenue and aspect was totally utterly flawless.. amazing staff .. rapid actions and responses to emails and either things being physically collected from your property or delivery is spot on as well in very good time.
They really prioritise and dedicate themselves around you and your experience with them and things just always go so well when selling or buying from these guys.

I have dealt with postal suppliers of model railways since the 1960s including Hattons of Liverpool. Rails of Sheffield have taken up their mantle and offer a service just as good but updated to take advantage of new technologies.
Recently I needed to 'cull' an oversize locomotive collection and used Rails excellent facilities. On the same day I listed my engines a good offer was made and accepted. Collection by Parcelforce was arranged two days later and the parcel delivered within 24 hours, all at no cost to myself. Funds soon followed by bank transfer.
I have recommended Rails in the past and will continue to do so. Their service, range and knowledge is second to none.

Like many of us 'boomers' I had a small railway setup as a child and then forgot about it...enter Bachmann in the 1990's and I went a bit wild and amassed a lot of items. I was able to buy locos and rolling stock at will and loved every moment of it. Sadly my dreams always exceeded my capabilities, my wife never really shared the dream and I have sadly had to part with it all.
Rails of Sheffield provided my exit strategy, 9 pages of items !! but very quickly made an offer which was very reasonable, paid for postage and insurance, and at no time put any pressure on me. All items were mailed and within 48 hours the offer was confirmed, money in bank 24 hours later. There is no part of the service that could be faulted, communication is excellent and prices fair, I give 5 stars, but it deserves 6!!

Have just received a reply from RoS apologising for the delivery problems and giving a refund of the Parcelforce delivery charge. However, still no idea where the package is at this point in time. Upgraded from 1 to 2 stars.

Sellers of express trains, but no express delivery.

Ordered a loco well before their 1pm cut off for next day delivery and ordered their Parcelforce 24 service, guaranteed next day delivery. At the end of the day the item should have been received Parcelforce still didn't have the package from Rails (I called PF and checked their online tracking - no tracking events recorded). Followed up with an email to RoS that evening, as of 11am this morning (now Friday after placing the order on Wednesday). There's still no reply to my email asking what was happening with my order. So I'm none the wiser as to whether this has even been posted. If you do order from them just get whatever the cheapest service is, they're mis-selling their express services and will just stick your order in the post when they feel like, it would seem.

I would award Rails with six stars if that were possible. I have previously bought from Rails with confidence on a number of occasions and have just sold a couple of items to them for the first time. Excellent price and service. I cannot fault them.

Wanted to sell some of my OO guage railway. Had a quick reply to my initial email and after agreeing the price payment was made the sameday.

I had a model railway around 40 years ago, with all my locos and rolling stock from the 1960’s and 70’s. Now I have time due to retirement, I wanted to rekindle my model railway interests. Due to the age of my controllers etc I needed some advice on where to start with DCC, conversion of existing loco’s etc. So I visited the shop, and well worth the 90 mile round trip. I had visited other model railway shops, but the advice and help in starting up again from Zoe was what I needed. She could not have been more helpful on that initial visit, I came away with renewed enthusiasm, some helpful Peco guides, and some scenery models to make. Since that point myself and Zoe have been emailing with questions, answers and advice which subsequently lead to purchased of a number of DCC items to get started with. The whole process has be great, lots of advice with no pressure to buy, with guidance on what to select and why, and more importantly what to avoid. This is why we need these independent shops, not large chains that sell lots of models but have no knowledge, we need more shops like Rails run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, who know the products and their nuances. I also delt with Jude in sales to place my order, again very helpful, and suggested various items or alternatives, again could not have been more helpful. Rails, well done for making this a purchase experience not just a shop selling items, for your advice and helpful staff.

I had excellent service from Rails of Sheffield as regards items I sold to them. Having sent them a list of the items, they responded quickly and offered me a good price. They offered to uplift the items from me free of charge by means of Parcel Force. They tested the items immediately they received them, and they paid me by bank transfer on the next banking day.
