I decided to dispose of my TT120 stock as it hadn't, for me, quite lived up to expectations. I contacted Rails who offered me a price which I accepted, asked me to pack it up. and they would arrange free of charge collection. The service from Ben and co in Sheffield was excellent, communication good and payment received promptly. I have nothing but praise for this company.

The company replied to email enquiries regarding buying my N gauge collection and we’re very prompt in their offer with only purposeful questions and I accepted their offer and the arrangement for collection and payment were dealt with quickly. I had several problems with other companies.

I had some American H0 locos to trade in and sent a list to Rails who responded in rapid time with a very good offer which I accepted. The parcel was collected at no cost to me and once received at Rails the payment was in my bank the next day. Very excellent communication throughout the whole process and Ben was very helpful. If you have any surplus model railway items to sell them I would recommend Rails from my experience.

Rails recently bought some model railway equipment from me. Their customer service & communication was excellent throughout. From the initial first offer through arranging for the items to be collected from me to the payment by bank transfer. I cannot fault them. Thank you.

I Decided to sell some OO Gauge locomotives and received great service from Rails of Sheffield. Based upon a detailed list they gave me an estimate, which was very competitive. They arranged for a courier to pick up the parcel at no cost to me and paid the estimated value by bank transfer within a couple of days after they received the parcel.
Great service, helpful and very fast responses by email. Excellent, couldn't fault them.

If you’re looking to trade in or sell anything to do with your model railway then Rails is the one stop shop. I recently needed to trade in my American N gauge railroad. This included locos, rolling stock, DCC controllers, vehicles etc, Rails were able to take everything which comprised of almost 100 items. The process is extremely efficient snd very simple to use. Online database makes compiling the list of items so simple. Once submitted and accepted, the items were collected by courier from my home and delivered to Rails next day. I received cash settlement into my bank the following day. The whole process took only 4 days from start to finish. Email queries were answered very quickly. Jake and Ben did an excellent job. Very professional indeed. Can’t recommend this company highly enough.

A simple and quick way to sell the models you no longer want. The dedicated website for selling your pre-owned models to Rails of Sheffield is excellent! The “look-up” tool that helps you to create the list of items you want to sell is comprehensive and is flexible enough to find almost anything very quickly. A few more clicks to “assess” your item and then it’s listed. Submit the list and you get an offer in a day or two (even on large lists like mine) and the process of couriering the items to Rails, when you’ve accepted, is so easy for you, the customer, it’s almost too good! I waited just another day or two after the parcels arrived at Rails to get the money they’d offered - unsurprisingly, they want to check what you’ve sent them, but that is quick and easy too. It’s highly likely I will be doing it again, when I want to “refresh” my collection by losing some older models in favour of new releases. Excellent service and great people to deal with.

Having downsized my home I chose to replace a 00 gauge model railway with N gauge. I have now sent two batches of rolling stock to Rails in the past year covering items bought between 1990 and 2022. Jake at Rails covered the latest batch for me and reinforced my confidence that they provide an excellent way to sell off unwanted model railway items. The process was quick, friendly and fair value bearing in mind how simple the process is for the seller.

Ben and Jake clearly explained how they could help, what they would do and how they would do it. I did have to pack items well, but Rails carried out all they said they would do and paid me quickly.

I decided it was time to get rid of some of my old OO gauge rolling stock/locos that were unlikely to see the tracks again. So, I compiled a list of items via Rails second hand department database and received a very prompt offer from Ben. All I can say about the offer is that it seemed to be a fair one so I decided to proceed. The process was excellently managed by Ben and all I had to do was box up the items and then wait for Parcelforce to collect them. No additional cost to me and I received payment within 24 hours of receipt of items at Rails. I am sure that people would say you could have got more money elsewhere or by selling the items yourself but the ease of the whole process meant that I disposed of the long disused stock with minimum hassle. No regrets.

The product is so bad.
Bought a N gauge mallard. It derails on nearly every points. Non of my other trains do this so it's not the track. Such a big disappointment and not worth the £250 I spent.
Also I had the option to not receive sales emails. They totally ignored my request and started the email campaign on me. GDPR has no meaning to this company

A great buying and selling experience. I have used Rails of Sheffields website for model purchases and their model money website to sell to a number of times now and I have received the same excellent service each time with quick payment. Importantly, they are very good at getting back to you and although I haven’t had a problem, I imagine that they would be efficient in sorting a problem if there was one. Ben is very helpful.

What a fantastic experience I had - I had to clear out my OO gauge items, after sending a list through I was quoted a reasonable price. Rails arranged the pick up for Weds and I received the money today. Ben was absolutely superb to deal with and helped make the whole experience as easy as possible.
