Avoid this company.Rip off !!!.
Recently sent a watch to be quoted on a repair. I received a price over £250.
I was told it needed the glass replacing, a full service to keep the warranty in place. Also the mechanism was not working.
When I said I just wanted to repair doing, not interested in the warranty, and there was nothing wrong with the mechanism.
It was sent back.
Jokers.

After reading the reply from the company I'm baffled.
Please show the pictures.
All that was needed was the piece of brass replacing. I did not want the glass repairing, nor, a service.
The watch was working fine before the brass bit fell off.
When I explained this you sent the watch back.
Your company is a joke.

I needed a new battery and service for my Baume et Mercier watch. We discussed by email the likely costs and I posted my watch to them. They came back with a quote that was far more than i wanted to pay. I paid the £20 cancellation fee (which is quite reasonable) and the watch was returned by insured special delivery. All good so far. However, on insepecting the returned watch I see that they have managed to damaged the back cover, bending up a corner of it and not sealing it properly when they re assembled the watch. I am really not impressed. I compared photos of the watch before sending and after it was reurned and the damage is clearly visible. It actially looks like someone has tried to pry the back of the watch off instead of unscrewing it. The fact that one side of the watch is no longer flush with the base suggests that they may have crossed the threads screwing the cover back on. Terrible service!

Further to the response by repairs by post. The watch was undamaged when it was posted to them . I took photos of the watch with the job sheet as background which clearly show the watch as being undamaged when posted to the company. When the watch was returned it was damaged. This means the damaged occured between posting the watch to Repairs By Post and receiving it back. In my opinion the most likely explanation is that someone at RBP messed up trying to open the watch and then tried to cover their tracks.

Update...

A few days later someone phoned me up and we had a very sensible disucssion about the problem and she asked me to return the watch to be inspected. This I have done and I am appreciative that they made the effort to call me and sort it out. Based on this I have upped the starts from 1 to 3 and I will be adding another star assuming the conclusion is satisfactory to me.

A difficult repair was completed in a good time frame at an excellent price which my normal watch repairers could not do.
Was initially dubious of using an online company but cannot recommend them enough

I was impressed by RBP service. The initial attempt to repair my watch was not sucessful. I accept that sometimes bussinesses have problems, but the real test is how these problems are delt with. RBP willingly worked on the watch again - without further cost to me - and now the watch is working fine. Five star customer service - thanks you.

Excellent watch repair service Jonathan would always return emails quickly when asking progress of my repair on my farthers vintage garrard watch was returned serviced repaired and in good working order supplied a nice leather strap which Jonathan suggested which really compliments the watch very pleased with the the repair by post company

RPB have beautifully restored a very precious watch that had water damage when the actual manufacturers said it couldn’t be done. It has come back looking good as new and I’m so grateful. Can’t recommend this company highly enough, thank you.

I sent my watch in because of their relationship with Shinola. I had a bit of water in the face of the watch after swimming in the pool. They had custody of my watch for 5+ months and beyond the back-n-forth about fees which were quoted at round 33% of the watches value, I received my watch back more damaged than when I sent it. The seconds hand has been cut/clipped shorter and is bent. The crown is also not winding and the watch is not ticking (it is an automatic). I am dealing with Shinola directly now to repair my watch to see if I can restore it to what it was before sending it to this company.

Fantastic service at a reasonable price. The Tracking Service is excellent informing you of the process your watch goes through from thre moment they receive it to the moment they return your watch to you.

What is so good about Repairs by Post is that you are continuously informed of each stage in the repair process. Also the repair costs are reasonable and the service quick and efficient.

Whilst I agree with other reviews that the time taken is very long from start to finish, you are advised the process does take time. Following numerous conversations with the helpful support staff the delays are the result of a lack of skilled watchmakers to meet the current level of demand. My watch came back on time with the schedule of repairs complete and whilst expensive, the watch is then guaranteed for 2 years and its all relative when compared to the maintenance of other expensive items e.g. the car.

The business model here seems to be to send off watches to a group of trusted repairers and to return them to customers directly from the repairers. It may be that the competence of the repairers varies. My wife’s watch was not correctly repaired initially and there was a certain amount of wriggling (did you handle it roughly, why did you try to set the time, and finally after it had been returned “but we can’t find anything wrong with it”). But finally it was repaired correctly under the terms of the guarantee after he was sent a video of the malfunction. We are now happy. Clearly Jonathan works hard at his business but if it to succeed he must inspect the items before they are returned, be very careful about his repairers, and act in a generally more honest and straightforward fashion when something isn’t right.

I sent my watch off with a request to have it calibrated only. Unfortunately this was not a service the business provided. My mistake.
Had excellent communications from the business and full explanation given.
I paid the return fee, as stated on website and watch was returned in same condition I sent it.
