Rip off and greedy
Agreed with the below. No club should associate themselves with Revel. A rip off from the outset and the wkend was saved by the host rugby club, weather and setting. Avoid.
Completely useless.
Completely useless.
Over priced to such a degree that you'd be expected to sell an organ to eat / drink / sleep at their events.
Coaches (travel) not prepared for numbers of people booked to attend.
Rude staff. Understatement.
Revel Rugby - you are an utter DISGRACE
Revel Rugby, you have scammed hundreds of people. Our club will NEVER book with Revel again and we will do all we can to warn others. The lack of presence on site and failure to respond to any complaints says it all.
We have just returned from the Revel Rugby Marlow tour. It was very expensive (almost £1,200 for a family of 4) but it covered the rugby (1 player) & a 4-star hotel 2 mins walk away from the rugby ground/evening activities. The rate was supposed to include breakfast, a family room, indoor swimming pool and spa. However, what we got was a family-3 room in a 4* hotel almost 5 miles away from the Rugby ground and 9 miles away from the evening activities. We had to pay for breakfast & parking, there were no pool/spa facilities and we had to drive 25 miles a day to take part in the tour. None of these changes were communicated to customers prior to arrival and so we had to spend £200 on breakfast/parking/taxis. We tried to contact Revel Rugby on the arrival-day but they ignored all comms. The evening venue was atrocious – there were frequent water-supply and power issues, over-subscribed and filthy toilets, overpriced and limited food/bar facilities and no first-aid provision. We found out there were busses running between the hotels/evening activities on our last day – but there was no schedule. Also, Revel hadn’t paid the bus company, so they were threatening to not operate. The experience Revel sold to families was nothing like what was offered. Revel didn’t communicate the changes to customers. We have been completely mis-sold. That said, the determined spirit of the wider rugby family and the fabulous efforts of Marlow Rugby Club helped keep this event afloat.
Never use revel again
I have re read all the advertising and claims they make for value for money ease of booking and years of experience.
Im sorry but none of these claims, that revel make have any substance to them what so ever.
1) £7 a pint of beer and £2.50 a soft drink
2) £15 for a handful of chips and a bit of chicken for an adult
3) no childs menu. Its a childs tour.
4) 4 toilets to serve the whole intire campsite. They were not kept clean by revel and were utterly disgusting within a few hours, a health and safety issue given the unsanitary conditions of the toilets.
5) not enough shower blocks, and they didnt work properly, how less than 20 showers were supposed to service the entire site i do not know
6) all the toilets and showers were at one end of the field, surely they should gave been spread out for ease of the campers
7) the electric hook up £75 for a plug on an extension lead on the soggy grass, electricution hazard if i ever saw one. Also the power went off several times
8) not allowed cars on the field to unload everything or reload on the monday. I am not in the best of health and found this really difficult. There was only 1 cart helping transport peoples heavier items around, no organization what so ever. So what exactly did i pay £20 to park my car for.
9) the staff were really unhelpful and seamed were more interested in talking to each other rather than helping people with issues, this is an observation and a personal opinion.
10) clear health and safety infringements
Hence i have written to revel direct for compensation and some money back for such a dreadful experience. I will never use revel again and will actively discourage anyone from using them

Never again Revel i
The facilities at the campsite in Marlow were a disgrace! Toilets were not cleaned and were vile. Showers the same. No staff on site to help. Cars all getting stuck in ground - plus is ridiculous £20 additional to use a ‘car park’. Food and drink prices were ridiculous. 7 pounds for a pint and 15 for chicken drumsticks and chips! Small bottle of water 2.50! Sausage bap £7’ Electricity cut off on Sunday. At £500 cost to bring your own tent incl power feel completely ripped off. Never again Revel!
Shambles of a company ripping off already stretched families
I was part of the Revel Marlow rugby tour, and to say Revel should never host another rugby tour again would be something of an understatement. We paid close to £350 to pitch our own tent in a field, on a slope, and get some fairly poorly organised shuttle buses approx 20 mins each way to Marlow Rugby club. We Were Told approx two days before the event that we would have to pay £20 to park our cars a fairly long walk from the actual camping area, which was cash in the hands of the parking attendants. The queue to get in when we arrived stretched out onto the road for about 1/2 a mile, and there was no traffic management in place at all, so the locals weren't too impressed... On arrival we were given our wristbands and told "pitch over there" whilst waving in the vague direction of all the other tents. The guidance sent out was very strict - no tents over 5m, no gazebos, no open fires. All of those were flouted openly with no policing at all. The "award winning chef" provision consisted of a double gazebo sized area, with no prices published, and we're basically serving two drumsticks and chips for £15. So for a family of four, we were looking at chicken and chips in a cardboard box for £60! The bar was about 5ft wide (this is a rugby tour guys, come on!) and was £7 a pint, or £2.50 for a flat coke. There were 16 showers for about 700+ people, and most stopped working (again, the guys are playing rugby! Showers should be a given...) 4 toilet units for the same number of people. And they were overflowing at one point. People were in there retching because of the smell. The whole event was poorly organised, badly staffed, and a total ripoff. I will NEVER use Revel again, and would recommend any rugby club organising a tour to give them a very wide berth.
Campsite only had 8 toilets for…
Campsite only had 8 toilets for hundreds of families, most of these were blocked at any one given time. It was disgusting. Same with the showers. They were mostly locked and not in use. Only one tap on site. After paying £340 for a bring your own tent pitch, we were charged £20 to park a 10 minute walk away from our tent meaning we had to carry all our gear. The campsite itself was nowhere near the rugby festival. On campsite it was £7 for a drink & £15 for a chicken drumstick & a few chips in a box…disgusting! At the festival itself, only about 20% of the few toilets provided were useable. What an absolute disgrace.
Terrible company should not be allowed to run such events
Terrible communication through the whole booking process, long lists of things 'not allowed' being given rather than advice for campers. Camping venue changed to a field which wasn't good enough to accommodate camping (poor farmer), MORE changes & guidelines sent out a few days before start of festival which showed the total lack of organisation.
Not a great experience for campers; not enough toilets to service the camping site, those that were onsite were poorly maintained & never clean. ONE food vendor for the whole campsite, they were charging £15 for 2 chicken legs & chips. 1 bar £7 a pint. Showers worked for the first hour (the water ran out). Charged to park in a field...weirdly had to pay that cash 🤔 Campsite 20 minutes from the actual tournament. Complete lack of organisation, health & safety or thought gone into such a huge event!!!!! I doubt it was even legal!
No first aiders onsite from evening to morning...is that legal?
The actual tournament grounds, again not enough facilities for the volume of attendees, no refs which meant team coaches had to ref. Not enough h&s first aiders on site.
Great marketing though, their social media makes the events look appealing especially as they hide negative comments & turn commenting off completely when negatives start to appear🙄🙄🙄. Strange that they don't have a Google account where reviews can't be turned off 🤔🤔🤔

A disappointing “festival”
A disappointing “festival” in Cheshire that was lacking in fun (nothing for kids/siblings i.e bouncy castle or games that many local tournaments have), food vendors (quoted as having a wide variety of food vendors, the only food available was the clubs lacklustre burgers/hotdogs) and basic facilities (adequate pitches without football goals)! The Haven site and accommodation was, to be fair, good, but the whole event very overpriced considering the price for a weekend at Haven was about a third of the price we paid for the whole Revel Rugby experience. However, our main concern was around the required rugby knowledge at the event, no refs, teams not turning up (despite a guarantee that all teams had to be booked with accommodation and payments) and little tournament structure around the timetable, groups and games. We would question it met the health and safety requirements of playing with appropriately qualified refs and safeguarding input/risk assessments. Would avoid in future and look to making own/club arrangements.
Disgraceful!
I agree with all the below comments, the disgraceful facilities aside, there was no consideration for the safety of our players, no refs, football goals! what an absolute shambles, I have been on many tours over 19 years! I have no words that are appropriate for a public platform!💯
I was part of a club who attended the…
I was part of a club who attended the Marlow festival 3-6 May 2024. Whilst our party had a great time this was due to making the best of the situation rather than the efforts of Revel Rugby.
Some positives:
- Crown Plaza Marlow was a great hotel - nice rooms, good breakfast, indoor pool
- Marlow rugby club did a pretty decent job during the day
Some negatives:
- complete chaos for the club trying to get information prior to the tour and a website prior to tour that had incorrect information on basic items like amount paid and accommodation type allocated for weeks and weeks
- no Revel staff at the hotel and no guidance about lots of things including shuttle buses and walking route to rugby - just a qr code to scan and then ambiguous or lacking information
- £7 per pint at Revel bar and woeful poor value food option (£3.50 for a very basic hot chocolate)
- a website during tour with very little information besides fixtures/ results
- revel staff (coaches, campsite) who lacked pretty basic customer service
- thank god I didn’t have the misfortune to select the camping option (and I’ve rough camped tonnes of times - so no fair weather camper)
This company seem to delete poor feedback from their instagram and Facebook feed as soon as it’s posted - imagine word will get around gradually and they will then restart the operation under a different legal entity/ trading name.
I’ve been on a lot of rugby tours so don’t expect first class service but these guys are cowboys, avoid.

If it was possible I wouldn’t give them one star! Marlow rugby festival was a disaster! Accommodation only confirmed one week before tour, evening entertainment was moved 6 miles away with near enough no entertainment for the kids and this is a junior rugby festival. I will not go to another Revel rugby event! The buses to the evening entertainment was supposed to run every 15 minutes for them to change it hourly and not enough buses to take everyone!

Would not recommend! Very badly organised Rugby tournament
Very badly organised tournament, not well structured at all. They need to consider how they plan the matches, the pitches were not suitable and multiple pitches had football goals.
The information given upfront for accommodation was messy and didn’t make sense they changed the rating of all the accommodation and charged a lot of money for what I consider to be a very poor rugby tour. No referees were supplied after it was explained it was included, which meant it was being managed by other coaches, this was a safety concern for how the games were actually being managed.
Unfortunate experience
Entirely agree with Beth who was our organiser. The grounds were the rugby games were held was, to say the least, in need of plenty of TLC. First day 1 of only 3 toilets was out of order by the third day ALL toilets would not flush. Totally unacceptable for approx 200 to 300 people both clubs visiting and the public. Both inside and outside of social area was not up standard we have been used to on our tours. Unsure of what experience this company has organising a rugby tours but they need to greatly improve their choice of venues and work on their timetables. Very limited choice of food and certainly in our case, appeared to have been prepared well in advance, unfortunately does not work with cheeseburgers!!.
Awful Tournament
Awful Tournament, Revel should be ashamed of themselves we traveled over 100 miles to take part and when we arrived there were only 2 Rugby pitches we had to play on a football pitch and the goals were still on the pitch no referees in attendance and we had to ref our own games not even an ice cream van for the kids.
Zero effort from Revel to make this tour one to remember for kids absolute disgrace.
This company should be ashamed of themselves for ripping everyone who attended off. This was not an organised tournament it was an absolute shambles a grotty club house where the toilets were awful there was a food store there doing burgers and they were cold, we could have organised a better tournament ourselves and after this experience we are going to look into it next year.
A shambolic disappointment
This was an expensive tour for many families but we were all looking forward to a fantastic weekend away with our team. The venue was
basic, with football pitches being used for rugby pitches, try lines being unclear, no referees on the first day because they had double booked! There was a social club where you could buy sausage and chips etc but not the stalls of food that were promised. There was not a significant presence at the club by Revel and the staff who were there, were doing their best, but seemed not to know what was going on. The atmosphere was lacking and although the rugby was competitive, a lack of officials led to some rather unpleasant incidents between teams. The company messed up most of our group‘s accommodation and charged individuals an extortionate amount of money which had we booked through the campsite, would have been much cheaper. We played the same teams on both days and a couple of teams did not turn up. I would not recommend this company as they just do not seem to care that they have not provided the service or experience that was promised, but they made lots of money from the occasion! Seriously, you could organise your own tour and matches at a much smaller cost.
Conning kids rugby tours
Revel rugby is a con, this tour leaves players at risk and the RFU would be disgusted. We paid approx on average £1000 per family and we were told all teams had to use them for accommodation, yet some teams were local and were not having accommodation, those teams did not turn up anyway. Referees did not turn up so meant the teams were at risk and their health and safety was compromised, teams cheating but refs were not trained so it went ignored and unnoticed. 2 paramedic for a sold out tour which there must of been ten teams at least and most bringing at least 3 squads each minimum for different age groups. Absolute rip of total breached their own contract so we look forward to the refund. There was two people running the event and they had to litter pick etc, it was a joke. Do not use, I would suggest that revel x ltd be avoided at all costs.
Revel Rugby are conmen…
The initial contact with this company was wonderful. They seemed to listen to our requirements and promised a fantastic 2 day rugby festival and a holiday park accommodation. Sorting the accommodation was a total nightmare but the actual park was very nice.
The promised festival …..“ Nestled in the enchanting surroundings of Cheshire, this event promises a rugby celebration filled with thrills, camaraderie, and sporting excellence. Join us as young rugby players from across the country showcase their skills and compete in a festival that will ignite their passion for the game”
What we got was a pretty grotty social club, with football pitches that still had the goals in, a very disorganised set up with teams having to sort match times etc. the promise of referees was not met, only 3 matches each day against the same teams, staff seemed to know very little and were simply apologetic that it was so awful. No food stands, just chips and burgers from the social club. And not even a medal for the boys. There was absolutely no atmosphere at all. Worst part is we paid circa £300 per PLAYER (after accommodation costs) for the worst tournament we have ever been to with not a penny spent on making it a great weekend. The company are now not responding to emails or messages so are clearly crooks who only care about their profit. Do not use under any circumstances.
