If you were one of the lucky few who used RITEWAY early on, congratulations, you probably got your money. But if, like me, you got involved later in the game, you’ve likely been caught in what can only be described as a pyramid scheme.

RITEWAY claimed a tax rebate on my behalf, promised transparency, then sent me a letter saying they were withdrawing the claim with HMRC. That was a lie. Behind the scenes, they still went ahead and took the money. I’ve seen multiple reviews echoing the same story. RITEWAY saying they’re no longer pursuing claims while secretly pocketing the funds.

Thankfully, I’m now working directly with HMRC and have managed to recover 50% of what was taken. But the fact I even have to fight to reclaim my own tax refund is outrageous.

If you've had any dealings with this company, you MUST write to HMRC (Self Assessment) and demand they be removed as your tax agent immediately. They are not a legitimate service, they are opportunistic scammers, plain and simple.

And to the founder. The fact you're ex-armed forces makes this all the more disgraceful. You should know better than to exploit people who trusted you.

I received a reply from "Slots Casino" saying that I submitted a review to the wrong company. Even though the email said "you received a reply from RITEWAY"

That's another letter of complaint going into HMRC about you Harriet. Not long now until you are publicly exposed all over social media.

Estimated over £5k tax returns, received my first payment and then communication broke down when I finally got a reply they had told me I was no longer eligible for a refund. When I asked why and what was going to happen with the money received they stopped replying to me. I haven’t heard any thing since even after I have received letters from HMRC they have not replied to me. Don’t waste your time!!!

Worst company ever. Quoted me didn’t pay out then got a bill from HMRC AVIOD at all costs.

I won’t even bother to give them a star but I have to! My interaction with Riteway started off pretty well. They were professional, explained the process, they constantly gave me updates and I was on track for getting my rebate. 2 months later and apparently HMRC have requested more information from me. This is where it all started to unraveled!
Although I was reassured that “this sometimes happens” (random audits) and that “I’m still on track to get my rebate”! I provided more and more information (4 years worth may I add). This is where communication with Riteway declined. Suddenly, early one morning I got a WhatsApp message from Riteway saying that I’m no longer eligible for a rebate (fortunately they caught this) and that I needed to sign a withdrawal contact (no cost, no hassle)! No explanation was given and they made it seem like they were doing me a favour. I instantly responded demanding more information, this is where I got a generic response saying they are busy and will get back at me. A week later and what felt like nagging to get more information, I finally got an apology which still did not explain why I was now ineligible and told to sign the withdrawal contract. Having wasted time and energy I just gave up.
What made this worse was that I recommended my friend to Riteway, she was lucky to get a year’s worth of money back. She however, got the same WhatsApp message in the same day as me saying she was now ineligible for the other tax years. Riteway’s explanation for our ineligibility did not make sense but from their lack of care and having lost the will to fight I gave up. Seemingly, most reviews are positive. I wish this was my experience but here we are months later with empty promises and wasted time!

I was quoted over £2k in tax refund from over a 4 year period. The first year’s worth was paid into my account. After a week or so I was then informed that they had made a mistake. Following an internal audit they discovered I wasn’t actually entitled to a refund after all and that HMRC would be in touch to get it back off me.
They provided no explanation as to why I was no longer eligible.
They knew at the point of payment that they had made a mistake. But instead of telling me immediately, when I could have put the money to one side to pay back, they left it a couple of weeks, by which time the money had gone towards a forthcoming holiday.
Having spoken to HMRC I believe they have been claiming money back wrongly for all their clients. I would not be surprised, following the audits by HMRC, they don’t look at all claimed made by this company and start demanding those refunds back.

Extremely simple and quick to do, with the team taking you through every step of the way. Great communication through out! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! *****
