Really helpful, worked through it to help me set everything up on my laptop exactly how i wanted it in the most efficient way.

Programme is good, technical support is very good but loyalty is not rewarded by company. I have maintained an up-to-date version of zoom text level two for many years which has cost a lot of money. I was using 2019 version through the pandemic up until early 2023 when I updated to the latest version. They charged me almost £600 for the program, one month later they ran one of their special events offering updates charging around hundred and £60 regardless of your current version, I contacted the company but was totally ignored! I have now paid another hundred and £49 for the 2024 version, I imagine this will be an annual charge. For those of us that pay our own licence fees in full, I don't consider I've been well treated by the company.

I recently ordered 2 HIMS Sense Players from Sight and Sound for my wife and myself, taking advantage of the discount offered during the Sight Village Central month.

On the positive side, I have always found their staff to be very pleasant and knowledgable - the web site is well laid out, easy to navigate and they have a wide range of fairly priced products, often with generous discounts available if you have the luxury of waiting for the right time to come around.

In addition, I have to mention their online presence in terms of their Youtube channel with product reviews and overviews, their Webinar Wednesdays and their general commitment to allowing people to make informed decisions - this is really something that sets them apart as a UK vendor given how difficult it can be to find detailed information and demonstrations for access technology.

The one thing that could be improved though is the overall customer journey when purchasing something online.

Its now been a week since we placed our order and we have heard literally nothing from the company - no updates on when the products might be shipped, even though the money has already been taken out of our bank account without even having had notification of a delivery date. Indeed, and somewhat ironically, the first contact since the purchase was asking to submit this review!

If I were to be purchasing from a mainstream retail outlet such as Currys, Argos, John Lewis etc and had this kind of communication and lengthy waits for delivery, I do not think I would find it acceptable.

I quite understand that such retailers have huge networks of partners, suppliers and delivery agents and also understand that Sight and Sound probably source their products from all over the world - I just think I would be a bit more sympathetic to this situation if the post purchase experience was a little more positive and personal, making any logistical challenges a bit more obvious, rather than taking someone's money and making no contact.

This is by no means an overall negative review - as I have said above, on the whole they are a well run company with very strong technical support and digital presence and remain one of the best UK vendors of access technology - they could perhaps just learn a little bit more from the retail experience of other high street players when it comes to setting expectations post purchase.

I had been waiting for Wyvern for a long time. Mark from Sight and Sound called me, and I explained that I was anxious about starting back at university without access to the equipment. He immediately calmed me by advising me he would arrange asap for my system to be set up. He came through on time and spend his time setting up and training me. I felt very comfortable with him In my home. I am now good to go!

When I ordered my item, Sight And Sound dispatched it immediately that advises our friendly and they understand about Sight loss. This made me feel more comfortable to order from them. Also I enjoy the brill. I enjoy the braille device I have now because I used to have an orbit reader which broke on me. This device is durable and will last for ages. It is really useful and accessible for anyone with a visual impairment.

My mother has a vision aid headset and one of its plastic loops onto which the right arm attaches broke off. We had 6 days to find a replacement before we traveIled with Mum abroad. But I found out the company that manufactured and sold the headset had gone into liquidation! After no joy in so many places, Sight and Sound Technology (who sold some of the headset designs) were recommended (by the Macular Degeneration Society), and phoning them was like entering a different world! The person I spoke to was genuinely empathetic and went to ask his manager if they had the relevant piece. He came back and said not only did they have the piece but they would send it out to me FREE of charge, First Class! It arrived just in time. I cannot thank them enough, and a company that has a heart as well as being efficient, must be one you definitely want to do business with, and should be your first port of call.
