I signed up and realised that I would not be using the course. Tried to cancel my subscription and received a call manipulating me to extend my free trial, with them saying they’d be in touch to confirm. I got nothing, never accessed any of the course material. I was charged for subscription renewal. They claim to have a “no quibbles” refund but it seems impossible to get one from them

Last year I signed up for a course of Shaw Academy. I have got 4 letters from the financial department that the payment failed. So I answered and asked them to stop trying it more times. I wrote that I changed my mind and asked not to use my bank card details and asked to confirm it. They confirmed. I have got a confirmation letter. TWO MONTH LATER! they started to transfer money. They used my bank card detailes thow we were not in connection anymore. Without contacting me, without calling me, without inform me they transferred themselves 1050 dollar!!! Now they are ready to pay back 600dollar. What do you think? What should I do? What would you do if you were me?

Esta empresa intentó estafarme, te dicen que tienes un mes gratis de sus cursos, cuando ingresas te piden tu tarjeta para hacerte un primer cargo, por fortuna mi tarjeta no tenia fondos pero ellos se quedaron con mis datos bancarios, ya solicite mi cambio en el banco, sin embargo posteo esto para prevenirles de la estafa de esta supuesta academia, no caigan porque si cobran desde el ingreso de tarjeta y el mes

I would give zero stars if I could. The course I originally signed up for had little content and what was there was poor quality. I cancelled within the free trial. They then extended the free trial period for a year assuring me that they would improve the content. I didn't really care and have signed up for a programme with a better organisation. Having never logged in they called at the end of the period to say I could have another 28 days for free, to see all the great content they'd added. To get the guy off the phone I said I'd take a look, and guess what, 28 days later and without it ever even being discussed, they took a payment from my card. They relentlessly email and call and text you, awful organisation in my opinion - just avoid.

Would give -10/10. I got 10+ calls from multiple different numbers after I did not key in my bank details. I hope the head of all these nonsense step on dog poo

Received a call from them about 20 minutes ago after signing up for a course a week ago. I was in an online lecture and answered as I didn't recognise the number, but decided to answer in case it was a call that needed dealing with immediately. After realising it wasn't, I was going to ask to be called back as I was busy. The call operator, with attitude, asks me why I answered if I'm busy. I subsequently hung up after telling him to reign his attitude in and to delete my number from their database. Definitely wasn't expecting to be called and rudely questioned about my choice to answer the phone.

Initially wanted to apply to a 'free course' and changed my mind when I reached the part where I had to fill in my bank details and where I needed to verify the account on the Saturday 16th of October, the next day I woke up to a call from them, then they called me again whilst I was getting ready for work, I told them I have no time I changed my mind and that I have 30 minutes to work. They hung up on me. I was like alright, then they proceed to call me every 2-3 hours on different phone numbers throughout the whole day. I then noticed that they made an attempt to call me through an international number and I was not happy. Using my email and phone number even though I didn't verify the account. I was lucky I didn't give them my bank details. I unsubscribed from their emails, blocked the numbers and they still found a way to communicate with me. STAY AWAY FROM SHAW ACADEMY.

THE FACT THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE AGE RESTRICTION IS WORSE! IR SHOWS THAT YOU ARE LOW ENOUGH TO MANIPULATE AND TAKE FRO. MINORS THAT YOU KNOW DO NOT FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE SIGNING UP FOR! IF YOU CANT SEE HOW WRONG THAT IS, THEN YOU GUYS ARE THE LOWEST OF THE LOW!

I joined Shaw Academy on the understanding it provided free online courses. When they asked for my card details I decided it wasn't for me as I don't want any subscriptions.
In the space of 20 minutes from initially registering I was bombarded with calls from private number - Shaw Academy, when I stated I was not interested in any subscriptions the operative was very rude to me then put the phone down. I received 5! more calls in 5 minutes! I explained the situation to each Shaw operative and reported I had been spoken to rudely and requested my number be removed and not to be contacted again.
Absolutely disgraceful.
I am now concerned about given my contact details to this company.
Beware when considering Shaw Academy.

They offered me lifetime service so I accepted as at the time I was okay with paying £60 once, then £40 pounds each month. Fast forward a month or so they take £109 out of my account. I call them asking for a refund as I already have full access and they told me they deleted my card details and will never charge me again. Guess what those scumbags did. They never gave it back.

I am from Jamaica. I was hoping that there was no rating scale for this criminal school so-called Shaw academy, because I was scammed by them. According to Shaw Academy, they were having a promotion whereby you would have a month free trial without being charged, after which you can simply cancel the deal without been charged for the program before the ending of the month. I spoke with the so called manager and he said he wants my credit card number for verification, and the verification will not warrant a charge. Because I didn't have anything to do I decided to do a course in nutrition, to my surprised after I gave him the card number a charge was placed on my card. I didn't say anything because I was excited for the class. However, they promised me that I would have classes on specific days that I choose, which I did. Within the space of two weeks only one recording I had received so I emailed them within two weeks and told them to cancel my program. I then received an email that the program will be cancelled. About a month after that a charge from Shaw Academy was placed on my card again, when I called them and asked them the reason for the charge the phone was hang up on me. I then called my bank which was NCB and told them about the situation, and my card immediately block. I believe Shaw Academy is a license scammer, and I would encourage everyone to stay far away from them. Please I need justice.

They called me after I registered for one of the classes about a year ago... the woman on the phone was trying to PRESSURE me into putting my card details in saying that once I put my card details in I can cancel. Which of course I’m not an idiot. So I kept saying, no just cancel it from your end stop sending me emails to which she hung up, why you may ask. BECAUSE ITS A BIG OL SCAM.

Money was taken out of my account automatically & I never received a refund of £150..There were pop ups on the site which isn’t obvious you click on and unwittingly you are charged. It still makes me angry as I had pointless conversations with customer services. Avoid this business at all costs. I just read an article on the Guardian which reminded me how awful my experience was with the company and the fact they never refunded me & offered me life time access to courses I didn’t want. Tip when you end your trial/free subscription you also need to go into PayPal & remove them as an authorised payee as this stops them taking money out of your account. Other companies do not use this unscrupulous method of emptying out your bank account. I just wanted to highlight again as I don’t want anyone else to suffer the same experience. Update following on from this review. Shaw Academy contacted me & then closed my case without explanation no refund offered again! I noticed lots of other people have experienced similar issues. With companies like this via trading standards or legal route. I’d be interested collectively taking action. This is something I would pay for!

This company are shocking. My husband started a course with them on the free trial in November 19 he cancelled the course. Nothing else was thought about it as the details he added for payment was a unused credit card... Well a year on they have been taking payments every month and put him at his limit on his card and he never noticed it happen due to this being an emergency on card! We got 4 months refunded via the credit consumers act via the CC company and guess what Shaw academy have challenged the refund and asked for it back... So they have stolen nearly £1000 we got £200 back and they have then taken that back too! There are not enough words to describe this abominable behaviour whilst posing as an educational institution. Absolutely disgusting... We will be fighting all the way.

THEY SAID FREE THREE MONTHS AND THEY CHARGED ME SO MUCH MONEY. I FILED FOR A REFUND. DO NOT GET THIS!

You know a company is bad when the only reason you make a Trustpilot account is to give them a negative review.

There's not much to say about this company that has not already been said. Shady people to say the least, who never stop bombarding you with emails and calls. The strategies these people employ make you wonder how they still remain in business; perhaps it's from all the people signing up without reading reviews.

The things this company does in the name of "customer acquisition" are beyond comprehension. Calling unintroduced about a course from 1 year ago is something, but spamming my mailbox after merely visiting their website? I wasn't even logged in during my visit, nor did I have any cookies enabled - I will let you guess how they managed to pinpoint my account.

Did I mention the fake reviews they leave themselves?

Scummy company. Stay away.

I literally signed up for a course during lockdown but I was not at all serious, I just wanted to see what they were about. Since then, they have not stopped calling & harassing me…it’s been 1 year; they call me at different times of the day & off of different numbers. Almost like they’re trying to “catch me out”.
I’ve asked them numerous times to take my number off their system & I know their call centre is probably based in Asia, no matter how many times I block their number, they just call me off a new one.
Please be careful if you register with them, a reputable company shouldn’t have to be this desperate for engagement.

Caí sin saber en lo que era. Entré para probar el mes de prueba pensando en cancelar antes de terminado el período de prueba. Olvidé y me di cuenta que el cobro se había realizado por lo que probé a un reembolso. No pensé en que realmente lo harían pero me indicaron por teléfono (Toda la charla en inglés) que se me daría una membresía anual con total acceso. Me fue cobrado al final el 69 dólares. Opté por comenzar el curso pero me fijé que no tenía realmente total acceso y me pedía pagar para continuar con los siguientes módulos. BECA TOTALMENTE FALSA. Ésto fue en Mayo y temo que a la fecha me hagan un cobro porque recién vengo enterándome de la estafa. Revisé y mi estado dice Premium Membership y Programar para cancelar lo cuál no entiendo qué quiere decir más que la siguiente info:

Cuando reviso si tengo algún método de pago asociado me sale en blanco y pide que agregue una. Pese a eso aún no sé si estar en paz con que no me harán algún cobro sorpresa luego de esos meses.

Al igual que muchas personas, introduje mi información y todo pero al momento de "finalizar" el formulario te manda a otra página donde te pide datos de tu tarjeta. Por suerte entré aquí a ver los comentarios y me di cuenta que era una estafa. Hace unos minutos me marcó una chica con acento inglés y la llamada venía de Nueva York. Así que tengan cuidado porque parece bastante seguro y no es así. por desgracia ya tienen mi teléfono.
