This is about my ongoing dispute (ordeal) with Shaw as they took £219.99 from my bank account without my permission and repeatedly refused to give it back. This morning, I got a message saying they had "attempted" to process the refund but it didn't work as I had opened a dispute with my bank, despite the fact that they refused to give me my money back MANY TIMES before I was forced to go to my bank. This is what I sent them back:

I do have my refund. From the bank, not you. I am just looking fir an acknowledgement that you acted unethically and even illegally taking money when I had said MANY TIMES no, I do not want that. And I am not the only one, judging by your reviews on Trustpilot. And the fact that there is a long note from Trustpilot saying you have attempted to manipulate your reviews.

Enough said, I guess. I am just writing this to say: prospective students, BEWARE.

Shaw academy is the biggest scam. I canceled my subscription but still got billed, they don't even warn you beforehand.

I want my money back

Shaw academy is a BIG SCAM, they lure you in with the 4 weeks free course and its all a lie! What pushed me to apply was that courses were "FREE" but money has been taken from my account twice!! First amount was R79 second amount was R399. I would like both these amounts to be sent back to my account as i never attended a single class and I'm nolonger interested. When i tried to cancel my subscription they keep on taking me from one page to another without actually canceling my subscription

I recently enrolled on one of their courses for the FREE 4 week trial exactly 7 days ago today and had until the 12 May to either cancel or continue to pay £50 a month , however on Tuesday the 20th April I received a call from one of their colleagues asking how my course was going, to which I replied I was enjoying it , he then continued to tell me he was unlocking all the materials for me for “free” which would usually cost over £200 and all I had to do was attend 4 classes per week to be entitled to this .
I then told him that I had already paid £50 for the materials to which he replied that this would be refunded to me.
I then notice £199 was debited from my account without my consent and without any notification!!!!! This is theft! This is money I do not have to just give away and I demand a full refund of all money including my £50 course material payment , to which I have limited access to anyway (another scam) . This must be breaking so many consumer and merchant rules .This has caused me an abundance of stress.
. This company should be ashamed of themselves scamming people who are trying to better themselves and can’t afford university tuition fees. I am a nurse working in the nhs trying to educate myself to take my mind of the past years events with the pandemic and this has added to my stress levels. I tried to call them and it’s an automated machine , I cancelled my account and my bank card to prevent further debits and they won’t answer my mails , it’s all automated , I will keep posting reviews and mailing them until I get my money back ,, stay clear if these scammers !!!!

I’m really disappointed with the service they took my money and not sending me my certificate I’m emailing them again and again they not even respond to my 1 email.really bad service no one should go to shaw academy

Stay away from them! They took my money the very next day of cancellation!!!!
It’s a scam. Don’t trust them! They usually are very nice via phone but they are robbing you!!!!!

Fraudulent website, they take your money, i dont know if they will charge me fully but if they do, i will make them pay... Stay away from them...

Took money after cancelling subscription and never having used their resources. Apparently logging into your account reactivates your subscription!!!

They have taken $190 out of my account after a dodgy phone call discussing my ‘free trial’ I am doing everything to get a full refund and cancel IMMEDIATELY

Complete scammers!!

They did not let me cancel even though I asked before the trial period. I asked them several times with no avail! Then in October and November they had the cheek to take out 2 more payments from my account and are ignoring my emails!!

I have more taken since and they refuse to refund me!

This is a fraudulent company; I was lucky as my bank agreed to refund my money back.
Please do not take any trial with this company as even they promise 28 days, they are charging you after 5 days. In my case, they charged me 219.99 and never agreed to this payment.
They asked me about my child engagement with the class. When I told them as my child is not happy, they asked me if I want to receive something more personalised; I answered yes and when I said yes, they charged me straight away without my consent.

I signed up to shaw academy on 02/04/2021 for a 4 weeks free trail been on the website once nd done one class and on the 14/04/2021 they have taken £219.99 out of my bank account and I am struggling to get through to a number to call or someone to speak too regarding a refund as that is my shopping money for the month. I literally had £221 in the bank account and they have completly wiped me cleaned out before my week shopping day. I have sent in several emails regarding this and have had one reply with someone will call you within 48 hours, I hate to say this but I am currently on UC with the on going pandemic and I have 2 children to support. Its disgusting that they're even still allowed to trade.

They are liers and scammers.

It wasn't for me because I didn't know it was set days/times you have to attend the online courses. And my work means I cannot stick to a schedule.

I emailed to cancel and they told me to call. Dispite I said I had hearing issues. I reminded them of my issues and they said "it's impossible to cancel via email"

(for a start it's ILLEGAL to refuse a cancellation request no matter how its sent)

My friend had to call on my behalf.. And guess what.. "to cancel please send us an email"

So emailed back "to cancel you must call us"

Friend rang back.. "to cancel you must email us"

When you join Shaw Academy for a 30 day free trial and you submit your card details you are entering into a subscription style contract with them for a period of approx 22 months where you are authorising them to take €49.99 out of your account monthly. This total adds up to approx €1000 you are paying them to do a course. They do not have to provide you with a service for this money or communicate with you. The only way you can cancel is to contact them( which they make very difficult because you can only e-mail them). You have to get it in writing from them that your subscription is cancelled otherwise they can still take the money even if you have instructed your bank not to allow them access to your account!

I received a call today from a Student Guidance Manager from the academy, and from the beginning when she started to speak, I felt something strange and weird. My feeling told me to not trust them as I felt something sketchy. Finally I told her that I wasn't interested...After looking at the reviews on the internet I was shocked as everyone is saying that it's a big scam and thieves. I'm so happy that I didn't sign up for any course.
