Great experience flying from Southend airport
Honestly could not fault Southend airport. No stress, staff are so helpful & friendly. I had left my sunglasses at the airport on departure & luckily a member of staff took them to lost property, where they kept them for my return. Wouldn’t want to fly from anywhere else. X
Very poor service in lounge and after
Although the actual airport was easy and quick, the lounge experience was dreadful. Paid £70 for two of us, only one staff member on, took over 45 mins to get a hot drink as the urn wasn't working and she kept forgetting to boil the kettle, food was barely edible. Staff member kept complaining to everyone saying she was the only one in. Whole experience was awful. Emailed 6 times to complain, no response, tried calling and phone rings out and you can't leave voicemail.

Had a return trip to Barcelona great service and an amazing experience from entering the building to getting on the plane

The best airport
Return flight to Amsterdam, both ways the journey was seamless, the staff are friendly and the process is efficient.
The train station is very convenient, it took 10 minutes from train to departures and again 10 minutes from touchdown to train platform (I am not exaggerating)

Dropped family off today ,1 visit 10 minutes £8 that’s bad enough. Went on website to pay , apparently I have made 2 visits which means £16. The option to question this is not an option as it does not work . I thought D.Turpin died years ago but it seems he’s alive and well and running Southend airport parking ,

You find out how good an organisation is when something goes wrong. The web page provides a Customer service email form. Unfortunately this does not permit any on line completion. The customer service No. answers as Essex university and is displayed on the phone as Rochford Hospital. No one answers the phone and it all appears to be in the hope that you just get fed up and give up any complaint that you may have. It worked for me and therefore helps the Airport get higher approval percentages.
Uncrowded, plenty of seating, and friendly and efficient staff.
The easy access from the railway station on an excellent service from Stratford every 15-20 minutes taking less than forty minutes. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and you can see they are determined to make their airport a success. I have mobility issues and the staff were so helpful. For me living in Greenwich it is now my airport of choice, more pleasant than London City which comes out very well in surveys. I just wish they expand their destinations and encourage Jet2 to come.

Horrendous experience coming home from holiday where a security guard at passport control decided to shout out in front of everyone “why are you in this queue “ This is for disabled people only!! I have a lanyard for a serious illness and a female officer had kindly let me through into the queue. My boyfriend then advised the security guard of my lanyard and condition I was absolutely mortified at being shouted at as this was my first time travelling and I’m terrified of this happening again.

Convenient airport for locals. Shocking food
The airport itself is fine. Small but great for locals who want easy access to an airport that will fly you off to Europe
The most shocking part of the airport is the singular place to eat and drink. The pub.
It’s like jumping back twenty years. Shocking. Standard straight out of the freezer food. Average service and sticky tables.
If Southend ever wants to transform into a true international airport then the quality of food and drink really beds to change.

This review is for the whole package including the rip off drop off charge it is totally disgusting and a cash grab.
While the airport is ok it’s stupidly expensive for everything.
£7 for 5 minutes drop off is just wrong and unacceptable if you go past 5 mins it’s then £15.
They can make any excuses they like but it’s wrong.
Out of principle I would not pay and would rather walk the last half mile. It’s not the money just the mugging which they are subjecting everyone to.

We’ve complained to the highest possible levels and also contacted our MP.

Ease of parking (mid stay)
Ease of parking (mid stay) with very short walk to terminal. Check-in was straight-forward. Toilets very clean. We had an early am flight with only two planes embarking that morning so very quiet. Made a nice change from the usual chaos of Luton/Stansted/Gatwick. Return on the 5th Aug was equally pleasant. Only our plane on the tarmac so bag pick up quick, through customs and at my car in barely 25mins. Would definitely opt for this airport again.

At the restaurant I pointed out to one of the bar staff that there were no glasses at the water station. “Are you asking or telling” was the reply!!
The same person with blonde hair down her back to her waist was bringing out food. On leaning forward her hair dragged over the food!!
The restaurant manager should train her staff to a higher standard.
The full English Breakfast is on the lunch menu but only available at breakfast time!
The food we had wasn’t great and cost the earth! It’s a total rip off!
The airport is in general ok
The airport is in general ok, fairly quick bag drop and security, probably as there are not many flights at the moment during April. However the restaurant/bar is a rip off, £60 for two basic burgers and two small glasses of wine. I will never buy food from that place again. Tenerife airport charged £21 for two burger whopper meals including large soft drinks. Border clearance on return needs to be speeded up, snake like queues even with two flights arriving close together, wouldn't like to think what it is like when it gets busier in the summer months. The only plus is it is local, but no idea why it is called a London airport, it is in Essex and miles away from London.

Airport great- eat and drink before you come
The airport and airport staff are great, speedy check in and security and friendly staff, always see the cleaning staff doing a great job. Can’t fault the airport itself or the people who work there. What holds this airport back is the extortionate parking costs and lack of decent coffee and shops. It would be great to get a boots meal deal and costa or Starbucks. There is the ‘sky cafe’ but is shockingly bad with cold coffees and poor but expensive food/ snack options. (ie £2 for a kitkat, and £7.50 for a microwaved panini, nothing for the kiddies.)
Pub only open every other day???
Nice, easy to use, clean but The Navigator pub closed at 2.30pm on a Saturday afternoon?? At £8 for a bottle of beer in the Skycafe and overpriced snacks, we went without.
