Excellent service went out of the way to help

Recently ordered 6 square meters of crazy paving and was quoted £194 including delivery. Two days after ordering I had to cancel the order as my father died suddenly and I needed to travel down the country to be with my family. This company now says that they can only refund me £76 due to "haulage charges plus VAT". I am disgusted, furious and feel like I have been robbed of £120 for nothing. Buyer beware!
Later note: Interesting that the entire delivery to my home address charge quoted was only £40 yet suddenly it is 3 times that amount now I've cancelled it. Also worth pointing out that eBay have asked me to report this company for asking me to pay by bank transfer outside of their website, as this means I am not even covered by their guarantee. Like I said Buyer Beware!

I ordered 2 Tubs of ResiDUAL jointing compound and opted to have the order delivered to my home address which is also in the Preston area. I noted that shipping came to £0.00 which I didn’t think unusual as it too is in the Preston area. I received an order confirmation which clearly stated the shipping cost £0.00 and also the line ‘We will notify you when the order is sent’. Over the weekend I realised that I would need another tub so called South Planks to add another tub to my order. I was told that someone would call me back. Next day I received an email saying another tub could be added to my order and the delivery charge for all three tubs would be £36. After some email ping pong I was told I had asked to quote for delivery and they were waiting for the best quote to come in. At no time was I made aware of this and had this been the case I would not have continued with the order as I can obtain the product from another provider including delivery at a cheaper price. All customers should be aware that the website does not make it clear that delivery charges have not been applied when the order is confirmed, even though the order confirmation states Delivery charge £0.00. I have since asked for a refund and gone elsewhere.

I used Facebook marketplace to order 20 lengths of wood from Southplanks. Today I went to pick them up and from minute one the staff were fantastic.

I ordered 3.6m lengths and they wouldn’t fit in my xtrail. Luckily Brian, who worked in the wood yard, came up with a superb solution of which I was extremely grateful for. Not often you receive such wonderful customer service like I did today. Enjoy the beers 👍🏻

I will definitely be using them more often.

I have not received my goods yet! Sadly you have entrusted Hermes now called Evri to deliver my parcel! They have said they attempted to deliver today 31st March! I have been at home all day and no delivery was attempted- it’s a shame that you use the worst delivery couriers in the UK - really disappointed

I've been a relatively frequent customer of South Planks for the last few years. The product range is great and really inspiring and the team are always helpful, professional and friendly with customer service always first class. Over the last month or so I've been buying timber cladding, tiles and building materials so a big shout out to Brian from the yard for his advice and his helpful and friendly nature. Who says men can't multi-task hey Brian!! Thanks also to Amber in the store, again always helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Last but not least there is also a great Cafe on site that does a mean flat white and fantastic chocolate orange brownies amongst some other much more healthy and tasty dishes 👍
