It looks like there may have been an issue with serving the defendant. In your court jurisdiction they do not provide a court date/time until the defendant has been served and the courts do not communicate directly with us in this case, as we file the court paperwork on your behalf and all court communications happen by physical mail from the court directly to you at that point.

The process server indeed was not able to locate the defendant. They spoke with the property manager and they indicated they have no knowledge of a resident by the defendant's name.

Service of process can be difficult for some defendants. We had recommended that you still appear at your court hearing. The process server provided an affidavit that attested to the attempts made. Sometimes the judge may allow alternate service by mail. However, in this case it seems like that would not have been an option as it was indicated the defendant likely does not reside there.

In this case you would have to ask the court for a continuance to allow more time to serve the defendant. This would have required you to look into where the defendant can by physically located.

Worst company I ever had to deal with right before my court date they couldn’t find or serve the other person no communication from them no response to me email once you pay them that’s it no help go to proper lawyer and forget these scammers.

No phone contact

No phone contact, no follow up, two individuals cannot be sued. No confirmations of serving summons, hardly any interactions
Yes, perhaps the filing of the complaint was accurate, but when asked to retract the filing and issue refund of the summons.. nothing happened, thereby me paying for service, not done.
There definitely can be a charge for additional help, as needs arise, benefitting both.
Becomes annoying to learn issues after the fact of paying.
Certainly lots of room for improvement and customer retention

You are correct. We don't have any advertised customer support phone number. The reason for that is quite literally because we cannot legally be in a position to offer any specific legal advice because we are simply a service to help you navigate the process of correctly filing your court paperwork and ordering service of process. These are the two biggest hurdles in starting your case.

We do provide an extensive Triple-Check guarantee of your filing to ensure the court does not reject it and the address on file for the defendant appears to be correct using all known information.

When anything comes up that needs attention we communicate by email as well as make direct calls to you to rectify any issues.

Fortunately, in your case there were no issues. In fact, you submitted your case to us on February 14th and it was filed that same day. The court accepted your case without any issues on February 21st and you were assigned a case number, court date of April 17th, time and location.

We placed the order for service of process on the morning of March 2nd and the defendant was successfully served and the court was notified of that completed service that very same day later in the evening. Worst experience

Worst experience! Poor communication, misfiled my case, TWICE, statute of limitations ran out & I lost my chance to pursue my case because of squabble. Have all my requests in writing for communication & a supervisor. Save your money & your case. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If there were less stars I’d rate it lower. Update: They filed & did not put the owners name on the service order, (which I provided). Asked so many times for updates & a call because they were not getting it done. I have copies of all of the unanswered correspondence if anyone’s interested. Also there’s other people on here who had the same experience! Judge sent my case back because it wasn’t filed correctly! DONT USE THIS COMPANY!

While most small claims in California have a statute of limitations of 2 years, your property damage claim has a statute of limitation of 3 years. Additionally, your claim states the incident occurred in March of 2022 which would put you out in front of either of those limitations.

Your case was filed and the defendant's registered agent was successfully served. The court accepted your case and provided a court date, time and location (which happened to be a virtual court hearing via Zoom)

I think It's a misleading service. Very little assistance or explanation of services targeted at people like myself who are unsure how to navigate the legal system.

You submitted your case to us on November 16th of last year. We prepared your court paperwork on November 17th and after our team reviewed it we filed it with the courts on November 22nd. Your jurisdiction requires the court filing to by physically filed (versus electronic). The court accepted your case on December 6th and you were assigned a case number.

On December 9th we placed your order for service of process (to serve the defendant the paperwork). After several attempts the process server was able to physically serve the defendant on or before December 24th (which is when we received notification). The courts were notified of that successful service on that same day.

In your jurisdiction a court date and time is not provided until they receive proper notice accompanied by the proper court affidavits that service of process was completed. The court then communicates directly with you on your court date/time by mail. We don't receive that because we have to file all paperwork on your behalf.

Squabble is a service that is intended for people who are unsure how to navigate the overly complex and time consuming small claims legal system themselves. Once you received your court date and time all you need to do is show up. Many cases are won simply because the defendant never shows up.

Never again. File it yourself

Originally it was great . Until I went to court yesterday and found out they improperly served the defendant . My case was delayed . Of course now no reply from squabble! It’s like being damaged all over again like the guy I sued. Don’t expect them to reply as they don’t. They should not be allowed to file small claims if they don’t know local rules of the court and property services update .. not only did they serve improperly 2x now I find out after 6 months , 3 court hearings , mediation and about to go to trial that the paperwork I submitted to squabble , squabble decided to not include the names of the owners just the business which is not what I requested . It caused my case to be dismissed. This company should be out of business like the electrician that stole from us . Squabble doesn’t return calls or emails and no NOTHING about Illinois Law. Don’t waste your time or money . Thankfully my bank reversed the charges but it doesn’t help my case having to start all over again!!!!!!!

Nothing is being done

Nothing is being done. And when email for a status update I have been given inaccurate information twice. The "Service of Process fee" has not been paid and so my filling has been in limbo for over a month now. And when email to I ask for this to be taken care of I now receive no answers to my emails.

I am currently reaching out to determine if we can get an update from them on it or if it's something you will have to handle since the case was filed on your behalf.

If the sherrif's department is able to successfully serve the defendant the court will assign you a court date and time. Currently, you only have a court case number. Once they assign that court date/time they will mail you that information.

Unfortunately the address on file for the electric bike company you were filing a case against is located in a UPS Store where that company most likely rents out a mailbox.

The address it was served to is the same address the company advertises, the same address you indicated and is the same address that is the registered agent on file for their company with the state of California.

The is the only location we could serve the paperwork to. The process server also mailed a copy of the paperwork to the same address. I assume the UPS store (who accepted the service) forwarded the documents to their customer as well.

To remedy this situation a court continuance would have been filed allowing you more time to find some creative means to locate where the owner(s) of the electric bike company is actually located.

I hope the courts helped you accomplish that while you were present.

We wish you good luck finding the defendants actual place of business. It might be worth inquiring with the court on the fact that the address it was served to is the registered agent for service of process for their company in the state of California.

Your review makes it seem as if some random UPS truck driver signed for it. It was indeed an employee that resided at that address which is the registered agent of service of process and their client.

Again, this information needs to be clearly stated to the court and/or you need to find a way to locate the owner(s).

My experience was not so good we tried to serve the defendant once couldn’t find them, but then they just cut me off after that, instead of trying on a second attempt, which I approved.

Unfortunately we were not able to serve the defendant. The process server tried a total of 6 times (which is 2 more than we contract them to do) and filed an affidavit attesting to the fact that the defendant was avoiding service.

In matters like this the two courses of action would be to ask the judge to allow for alternative service by mail and/or get a continuance.

I hope you were able to accomplish that and have your day in court!

I'm sorry the defendant could be served. It's difficult when they avoid process of service.

I would give zero stars if I could. Once I paid my money, I never reached a human again. I paid for the deluxe package that included paralegal support. I never received any support and no response to countless calls and emails. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE service. A complete scam!

It's amazing that you responded to this review within 24 hours but I still have at least 10 open tickets that were never responded to. Yes, the case was filed but I paid a premium for a paralegal support and every question that I asked after the initial filing process was never responded to. In addition, the venue was wrong and I had to argue to not have the case thrown out completely by the judge. I reached out several more times and got no support or response from your company. I stand by my one star review. You don't deserve to even be in business.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!

They failed to file the case with the court. This was verified by the judge & a paralegal. They respond to all email with an auto generated apology that reads in part.

We recognize and apologize that it's been a bit too long since you have heard from our team. We are experiencing higher than normal volumes of service requests right now.

Chase refunded their charge agreeing that they did not provide the service. It is a scam & nothing more. Hire a paralegal, cost the same.

Regardless of their claims, the judge refused the case citing they did not file properly with the court. They ask me to communicate with them but they have no number & send auto-generated replies. Cannot talk to a person. Read the litany of complaints about this SCAM. I did not get a refund from my credit card company for no reason. Nice try!

Extremely misleading and 0 support

Extremely misleading.

I'm a business and they advised their expected cost based on their analysis of local law.

Turns out I couldn't use anything they provided for me as I needed an attorney to represent me b/c I was an LLC (so, i couldn't do a pro se case period -- total waste of money).

They refused to give me a refund and refused to further discuss the matter.

Will never use them again.
