Standard Life offer a great range of products with the flexibility later lifer borrowers often require now. It is great to have Vicky as my BDM as she is easily contactable and always ready to help or answer any cirteria queries.

Standard Life have great flexible Lifetime Mortgage products and offer great service with an easy to use online portal. Vicki Leigh is very helpful and keeps us update with rate and product changes.

Certainly one of the better Later Life Lenders out there; good Products, Service etc. but as a Whole of Market Specialist, its a shame their rates are not always up there.

Good range of products; friendly and knowledgeable BDMs. Adviser portal easy to use.

Great provider with great products. Great customer first t&c’s such as day 1 downsizing with better than most definitions in the downsizing.

I have worked with Standard Life for a number of years now and have found their products and service to be one of the best in the business.

I love working with Standard Life as their products are fair and the only provider in the market that allows clients to pay the interest as well as 10% overpayments. Their customer service is exceptional. Vicki keeps me regularly updated with rate and criteria changes and I know I can trust her advice on cases as she is such an expert on the product range.

Trying to port a lifetime mortgage to a similar sized/valued property. This process has been going on since February. Endless delays, excuses and flannel. Finally had an undertaking of offer to port in 5 working days...on this basis we exchanged on the sale of our house but 2 weeks later our solicitor has not yet had the papers to finalise our next purchase - should be end of next week! No response to calls and emails, the whole setup between SLHF and their solicitors is fraught with dismal internal communication. With modern emails and electronic money transfers this sort of thing should take an afternoon in a modern office, not 3 months. They have obviously learnt nothing from Mr Tinsley's earlier post. I cannot believe that this process can be so ponderous in the modern age (had to give one star as there is no facility for a NIL score).

My experience with this company has been beyond frustrating and expensive both financially and mentally . I applied for a Lifetime mortgage unfortunately in the second year of COVID which meant everything slowed down. However the solicitors employed by them were impossibly slow and difficult to contact, as were SLHF and the process cost me thousands as interest rates kept rising. Not only this they required£2000 as an insurance that I would remove an ivy growth at the front of my house. This was done.i produced photos to prove this. However they insisted I had two full scale surveys to follow up which were internal. Why these were required, baffled me as the initial issue was external and a surveyor could have visited the property in my absence. The company clearly didn’t know the answer either. Having had three years of terrible health problems and family deaths I was beyond my tether trying to get reasonable answers as to why I needed to be home. I’m pretty sure it was a total lack of communication( as events transpired ) between their own departments and the surveyors. On one occasion n June 2024 I was sitting waiting for a surveyor who didn’t arrive. Upon phoning both the surveyors and SLHF I was told it had been cancelled. No reason. I believe another date was set in August which I had to cancel, but had stated ‘ since it’s an external issue, surely it could be done in my absence?’Apparently not, as they kept stating it was a FULL survey requested.
Finally on November the survey did take place, it turned out it WAS only the ivy they were concerned with, thus there had never been any need for my presence. This lack of communication had wasted two years, but is still ONGOING. After the last survey in November I followed up the result 10 days later.The automated phone call answering service kept rerouting my call and whatever selection I made always sent me back to zero. and never actioned. On the only human response I managed, I asked the agent if they had noticed calls weren’t getting through? She was oblivious and promised to put me through to the correct designation , but I ended up back at zero.This happened for over a week of very frustrating calls and during which I actioned over 7 emails to Daniel marsh, who had in the past been very helpful. No reply from him or anybody. I’m still waiting for my £2000 refund which after inflation is worth so much less. I assume the FCA is my only recourse.

Buyers beware . It seems one dept has little interaction with another and the organisation is a total shambles. Especially when they don’t realise their phone system isn’t working for weeks and emails aren’t responded to. 🤯🤯🤬

Received a response on the 7 th via incomprehensible voicemail getting my name wrong , so I was a little concerned who was contacting me. I have tried to contact them on the number given and truly hope this matter can be resolved.will update.

Be very carefull choosing this company, if you wish to move or downsize in the future the process is very very slow, no-one knows what's happening when you enquire about progress, it can take months to complete, you can't get through to any decision makers, and they can prevent your purchase without explanation.
Be very carefull, this isn't explained when you apply.
I notice they haven't even bothered replying to my review, Typical of this Company, do not use shop around and read reviews.rst
Told me miss truths again yesterday.
Well phoned again today, first customer service advisor said he could not get me an update, phoned again, second one said they could, obviously somone not telling the truth?
After all that they still cannot give me any usefull information, avoid this COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

Lesley Frame was my main contact throughout most of my Equity Release process and, I have to state this lady was exceptional.
My many questions were answered immediately and without hesitation and she explained everything in a succinct manner.
I couldn't have asked for more.
