Finding a chair to suit me was easy as slipping my foot into a comfy slipper when I sat in the medium Stressless Garda. Being short, under 5ft it's a very difficult task to find a chair that I'm comfortable in, especially having my feet be able to reach the floor. For shorter people this is a marriage made in heaven.

In the last four years I have purchased more than $15,000 worth of Stressless furniture including two weather lounge chairs with footstools, a two and a half seater electric reclining sofa, and two high end office chairs (for home use). Initially, they felt very comfortable and supportive but progressively over the time we have owned them the seats and seat backs foam cushioning support has deteriorated to the point where we cannot use the chairs without additional support cushions. All the furniture still looks in excellent condition, it is only when actually sitting in the chairs that that the collapsed cushioning becomes apparent. I must be honest and say that we are tall and large, but not obese, people. After waiting for a long time to get a Stressless representative to inspect the chairs we were told that the problem was not covered, as it was "fair wear and tear" and the foam cushioning was out of a very short warranty. Other manufacturers give a ten-year warranty on their cushioning, and we expected that, having paid a premium for Norwegian-made products, the company would address the issue, but sadly, this was not the case. I am myself, an Australian manufacturer (not of this type of furniture) and in my business we use HR (high resilient) foams that keep their shape for a very long time. I can only conclude that the quality of foam being used in the Stressless furniture is not of the high quality that you would expect of such expensive furniture. Unfortunately, the furniture is of no real use to us for the purpose we purchased it, and we will have to replace it all with furniture from another manufacturer (even though we still like the way it looks and the leather shows no sign of wear).

Please don't buy the Stressless brand and certainly do not use Berkowitz. Our experience has been awful. Waited for 6 months to get a product which did not reflect what we were lead to believe when we tried the chairs in the Blackburn store. We put the complaint in 6 months after receiving them. We were trying to give the product a chance to wear-in but the consequence was that we were told we were not truthful because we waited too long to complain. Yet after six months the fabric was as hard as one can find, the shape created neck issues and their Plus System did not work as it was and still is very hard to adjust and it does not stay in place. After submitting an email in January 2025 requesting available options, and pointless inspections by incompetent people within Berkowitz including a leather repair person who admitted to the problem on site but refused to report it (yet his experience was "leather repairs" but the chairs had a fabric finish), we were told in late May 2025 that the case was closed. We had agreed to have the lounges transported to their store in Blackburn (to compare the chairs to the ones we tried in Blackburn in January 2024 - a suggestion I had made earlier to Stressless) to compare what we were delivered to the ones we were promised in the store (agreeing to location, days and times which suited the people we had to deal with rather than our commitments); But we were told the case was closed (May 2025)! Why? because we could not attend due to being sick with Covid; both my husband and I had it at different times contracted the virus. I am in two minds whether to take the two companies to VCAT. The person from Berkowitz was an awful person to deal with who did not consider us at all and refused to be polite. The person I emailed at Stressless in Sydney was not interested at all and told me that I would need to deal with Berkowitz (yet they built the chairs). Please do not buy the stressless brand (we paid over $12,000.00) and beware of the lack of empathy from Berkowitz. Do not buy anything from them unless you try the exact model and finish that you try in their store (if you opt to shop there) and do not trust the people who work there. Get it in writing! It has been an awful and expensive experience. When I contacted them in January 2025 I was hoping we would find a way of repairing the chairs so we could use them. They were not interested in that and made sure that we "stopped annoying them" by their responses (phone and emails). These are just rude and arrogant people with no people skills and the products they sell do not reflect the samples they have in store. Beware!

We are very happy with our Stressless recliners. We have had a very positive experience from researching and sitting in the product through the order process to delivery. The only negative I would comment on is the very long wait for the product to be delivered into the store we purchased through. Apart from that, we are stoked to be sitting in these amazingly comfortable recliners 🙂

I have 3 Stressless reclining chairs, all purchased from Berkowitz. All 3 are very comfortable and supportive for my back. Recently my Mayfair office chair became very loose on the base. I was guided by Bernie from Stressless with videos to deconstruct the base to identify the issue. It was determined that a new base was the solution. Chris from The Leather Doctor came the following week to replace the base under warranty. The service was impeccable and I now have a perfect office chair again. Thank you Bernie and Chris for your great service.

First of all I have to say that the salesman knew very little about the product. I had not particularly looked for a recliner because I find them generally too bulky but was instantly "smitten" when I saw the Stressless Model Erik in olive green. Despite gaining useful information from the salesman I did purchase and once I found the online manual and instructions on how to move the parts I knew I was on to a winner. I have absolutely no regrets buying this chair (and ottoman) on sight. That is it so much more then a beautifully crafted product is an absolut bonus and delight.
