Solar panels and battery install
EE Renewables eventually delivered a neat and effective implementation although there were some issues beyond their control along the way. The roof panels were installed on the schedule day but the electrician was unable to attend due to sickness. This was rescheduled the following week. There were two issues the original battery failed and the panels installed on the flat roof were incorrectly set up. The electrician returned to replace the battery and the technical director and sales rep inspected the flat roof set up and corrected it. Once these issues were resolved the paperwork to set up an export tariff was done in two weeks overall I’m very happy because I now being paid for using electricity

Installation untidy
Installation untidy. Spiders web of wires round batteries and inverter. No pictures shown of typical installations beforehand. Safety labels too big to fit on panels attached to. Promised easy electrical connector between panels on tiled roof and panels on flat roof to allow future maintenance on flat roof not apparent.

The pre-sale experience with LMF Energy…
The pre-sale experience with LMF Energy was good. The sales team and the initial survey was very professional.
The experience during installation was OK, but certainly room for improvement. The coordination between LMF and the scaffolding contractor was not good. The scaffolders arrived a day earlier than LMF had told me that they would. The scaffolders were careless, blocked a doorway, and caused some minor guttering damage. However, they did eventually repair the damage after the scaffolding was removed, and this repair was done well. However, the doorway was blocked for over a month until the scaffolding was eventually dismantled and taken away.
The FOX inverter and battery seem good quality parts. The electrician who did the installation was very friendly and helpful.
The quality of the switchgear components installed, such as MCBs on the line supply was very much on the ‚budget‘ end of the scale though.
I did question why a suitable RCBO was not fitted as per FOX recommendation, but judging by their responses, LMF don‘t seem to have that level of technical knowledge in-house.
Perhaps because the project was done on a tight budget with Switch Together, LMF looked to keep costs any costs outside of the panels, inverter, and battery, to a minimum.
The LMF customer service team was fairly easy to contact

I was put in touch with our solar…
I was put in touch with our solar installer by Switch Together UK. It was this initial contact that gave me the confidence to proceed with a solar Installation at my property.
We had our UPS Solar installed in February and wanted to wait a few weeks before making a recommendation. We are delighted with how the whole experience panned out. From our initial contact right through to final sign-off, the staff have been helpful, experienced, responsive and an absolute pleasure to do business with. There was no pressure selling, everything is costed in a straightforward, honest manner and everything went smoothly. During the planning and survey stage we were kept up to date, our many questions answered with patience and respect. The installation was completed in a day, the technicians explained what would happen, asked if we had any preference for minor options and worked tirelessly to leave us with a very tidy installation - they are a very professional outfit. Since the installation, the system has worked faultlessly and is producing copious amounts of power, even whilst the weather has been less than ideal. I've had a few conversations with the aftersales team for guidance on getting to grips with the Fox app and they have been so responsive and helpful.
In summary; I was apprehensive about getting solar, my experience with UPS Solar has been absolutely first class, I couldn't recommend a group of people more highly. Thank you to all at UPS Solar.

VG experience

Well we got there eventually
Well we got there eventually. There were glitches and delays but everything is installed and working now. Solar Bureau were very helpful and responsive. The real test will be the effect on our energy bills and that won't be apparent for some time, maybe a year.

Difficult to fault
I initially signed up for a quote for solar+battery. The quote was very interesting but I read some feedback which made me wary so I didn't go ahead. I later regretted this decision but luckily there was a second offer in our area so I went ahead with it.
I am totally happy with the end result. The pre-sales communications were quick and clear. The equipment supplied is of very good quality (FOX and JA panels). The installation was excellent - a very neat job and did as I asked. I do have a few minor niggles.. 1) I was quoted for additional scaffolding because the roof was longer than expected but the panels only just fit on the roof 2) I was quoted extra for scaffolding as it had to cross over my garage - fair enough 3) The post sales communication has been OK but not as crisp as pre sales (typical!) 4) The panels are a very discreet all matt black finish but they have used shiny metal clamps to hold them down which 'glow' in the sunshine (I did say they were minor niggles!)

Very simple process.
The leaflet that arrived suggested that a storage battery could be added to my existing solar system at a reasonable cost. It involved signing up, selecting what I wanted and agreeing to the conditions attached. I left it for a while and had a think, it was a good idea, would it work, would everyone know what they were supposed to do. Research answered most of the questions, so I was in. Nothing else to do but wait and see which company would be selected, they,in turn, were also researched. Once I accepted the quote, an installation was organised. The hardest part for me was making tea for the installers.
I am keeping an eye out in case another scheme pops up, this one has certainly been worth getting involved with, no effort required.
