I was very nervous when I first decided…
I was very nervous when I first decided to do my Class 1. TrainHGV helped me explain all of the process and the steps I needed to complete and made everything very clear.
I pass second time due to one of my silly mistakes! I’m so over the moon that I have now passed and I am very grateful for everyone at TrainHGV!

Before booking with Train HGV
Before booking with Train HGV, I think it is important to understand what you are actually booking. They may describe themselves as training providers, but they are essentially acting as a broker rather than being the driving school that will provide your training directly. They take your details and payment in advance and then arrange the actual training with a driving school in your area, subject to their terms and refund conditions. There is nothing necessarily wrong with using a broker, but customers should understand the difference before paying.
My second issue was the sales approach. Everything was friendly and helpful while it looked like I was going to book through them. Unfortunately, that changed once I decided to use another provider.
I took the time to explain to Will why I had chosen to go elsewhere because I thought the feedback might be useful. Instead, this seemed to result in repeated phone calls trying to change my mind, despite me having made it clear that I had already decided. Eventually, what started as friendly sales communication became pushy, irritating and, in my experience, unprofessional.
Over the last few days I have spoken to quite a few HGV training providers while comparing courses and prices. Train HGV unfortunately stood out for the wrong reasons. They were the only company I dealt with where I came away feeling uncomfortable with the sales approach.
That was my experience. My advice would simply be to understand that you are dealing with a broker, understand the payment and cancellation terms, and shop around before committing.

We have taken the time to thoroughly investigate the concerns raised in your review, particularly your comments regarding the number of calls you received after deciding to use another provider. Having reviewed our telephone records, we can confirm that there were two telephone calls in total: the initial training consultation and one subsequent follow-up call. Once you informed our team that you had decided to train elsewhere, our records show no further telephone communication from us.
We have also reviewed the call. From our perspective, Will was friendly and professional, with the conversation focused on understanding your requirements and preparing your quotation. However, we appreciate that individual experiences can differ, and we are sorry that you came away from the interaction feeling differently.
We would also like to clarify an important point regarding your comments about our training arrangements. You did not book a training course with TrainHGV, and therefore you have not experienced the training service that we provide for our customers. While we completely accept that you are entitled to share your experience of your interactions with our sales team, we feel it is unfair to make definitive comments about the quality or nature of our training arrangements when you have not actually used them.
We offer flexible payment options for our training courses, in your particular circumstances, you had already completed your medical, provisional licence and theory requirements. As you only required practical training, payment in full was required in order to secure the booking and the associated training and test arrangements. Our terms and conditions are freely available on our website and provided to every candidate before they proceed with a booking.
We appreciate that you chose to train with another provider and we have no issue with customers comparing different companies before making a decision, we wish you all the best with your HGV training and future driving career.

Been interested in getting my hgv license for a while, I contacted a few companies for advice and training offers. Then I came across train hgv, they offer better support and training compared to the others I reached out too. The staff are all very helpful and have great customers service skills. The member of staff that help me in particular is William Goddard. Really informative and helpful. After talking to William I knew I wanted to join train hgv. They offer support though out my career which was a big seller for me. I definitely recommend giving train hgv a call, if you are looking to become a hgv driver, you will not be disappointed. Avoid this company
Avoid this company. They are not a real driving school just a third-party broker. They take your money, book training and retests months away because it’s cheaper for them, and delay your whole process while making a bigger commission. Very disappointing experience. Go to actual driving schools not these greedy brokers.

We're disappointed to read this review, as it does not accurately reflect your experience with us.
You registered with us on 4th March 2026. From that point, we completed your medical, assisted you with your provisional licence application, and booked your theory tests, which you successfully passed on 21st April 2026.
Your practical training then began on 15th June 2026, meaning all elements of your course from registration, medical and provisional licence application support, through to your theory tests and the commencement of your practical training, were arranged within just 3 months and 11 days.
Unfortunately, you were unsuccessful on your first practical test. Following this, we contacted you on 23rd June 2026 to offer you a retest on 9th July 2026, a waiting time of just 16 days, not "months" as claimed.
Unfortunately, you did not respond to our email offering this test date. You later advised us that you had not realised we had emailed you, meaning the opportunity was missed. Since then, we have offered several alternative test dates with similarly short waiting times, but you have not yet accepted any of them. We do not delay customers' training or test bookings for financial gain, and the timeline above clearly demonstrates this.
To address your claim that we are "not a real driving school", we have helped many candidates successfully obtain their HGV qualifications through our nationwide network of qualified instructors and training providers. We are proud that our commitment to supporting them throughout the process is reflected in the positive feedback we consistently receive from the overwhelming majority of our candidates.
We take feedback seriously, but it is equally important that reviews present an accurate account of events. We remain happy to assist you in completing your training and securing your practical retest.
